Do you think if Seve when he was chasing more accuracy with the driver would’ve discovered this his career would’ve been better/longer. It looks to me like he had some stack and tilt in his swing. But if he’d found the stack and tilt driver set up he may have found the answer he was looking for instead of going to Ledbetter and chasing Faldo. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4WXoGqZj9ONbtU Watch him here beautiful

I started watching you me channel 3 weeks ago because my game was inconsistent, frustrating and not fun anymore. I am 71 and been playing for 64 years. I was taught to shift my weight from back to front. Searching on KZbin for the last 6 months and trying many different swings I stumbled on your videos. Currently I am an 18 handicap and play 5 days a week. (Retired) I got it down to a 16 4 months ago but once again it went back up to an 18 because I was inconsistent with too many swing thoughts. For the last two weeks I am now in the mid 80s and having fun. When I have a mis hit, I know what went wrong or go back to watch some of your great videos and make the correction. For your viewers that watch your videos and try it for a week or so and say it does not work, keep at it. Change is not always easy but stack and tilt makes it easier than to reach your goals than others. Correcting 64 years of bad habits doesn’t come quickly. Thank you for your online lessons as they are great and entertaining.

I sincerely appreciate the kind words, Richard, and I am very glad to learn that my channel's instruction has benefited your game so quickly and to such an extent. You're obviously doing an excellent job digesting the lesson content and incorporating it into your swing. Thanks again for your support and for sharing your success, keep up the great work, and most importantly - keep having fun out there!! Tom

Pandemic hit and I had a lot of extra free time to practice and practice I did. This year I'm playing 100% honest and really focusing on getting rid of my slice. Shot my personal best of an 88 recently then followed that up with back to back 90s. I feel like I've made a significant step forward. My friends that I play with have all commented on the improvement. Golf is so much more fun when the ball does what you expect it to!!!

So many scientific moments during my two year span here of learning golf...and this was the hands down BEST advice I've ever heard. It made me realize I was stuck in an old habit of turning my shoulders too literally, in the wrong manner. When I saw this, I went downstairs... and what it felt like...is that I was pushing my left arm down.... and holy F*** I could feel that power build up ... I went outside...it was night but I got glow balls. It's kinda my test on stuff...cause if I can hit well in the dark I know its pretty concrete. I hit my 7 iron... big mistake lol. As soon as I hit it... I just dropped the club and waved to the ball. Brilliant my friend. I love your methods of teaching...it allows the student to discover on their own if need be.

I haven't heard this mentioned before directly. This issue is inherent occurs in both chipping and the full swing. And it occurs mostly when a golfer has lost confidence or is nervous in their swing or chipping. The issue is Deceleration or sometimes know as "quitting" on the shot. This is one big reason a golf can hit great shots on the practice range but as soon as loses confidence or or hits a bad shot this issue can start show it's self and the problem is at times imperceptible.

Great video, I have a question. Do you change the ball position for your long irons even though the swing stays the same, or do you have more of a wider stance for you long irons? Thnaks
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
While you do have some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. For example, my personal preference for the shorter clubs tends to be a position that is slightly forward of prescribed. I know you've been quite active here in the channel, Eric. I hope to see you soon in my online school! TS

I still have my tendency to get steep and come across it some resulting in a slight push-fade, but that’s going to be minimized within a few weeks I can tell. They're definitely not YOUR misconceptions, Greg. Sadly, many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings of "conventional" instruction - such as turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the club, shifting into- and torquing against - a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). We're doing our best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness! I'm glad to know that this lesson resonated well with you! Love your tips and helpful maneuvers! I'm less flexible at the waist and limited shoulder swing (old shoulder break) ... any way to help that? (Novice, 74 years... 5'4", 135 lbs)
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sheri, The Stack & Tilt swing is a very body-friendly method. For me this is supported by my personal experience as a player and furthered by the fact that the majority of my students are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. With regard to your shoulder, the setup for this swing facilitates a stress-free 45 degrees of hip turn. If you can add another 45 degrees or so of shoulder turn - and not a full 90 degrees as prescribed by "conventional" instruction - you will have plenty of total turn to strike the ball with power! Should you wish to give this swing a fair shot by learning it properly, please consider enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only platform that really simplifies the process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. Love the vids, Tom...I commented on another video you did about the proper back swing (it changed my life) and I was wondering if you had anything out there that can help people, like myself, take my range/practice mat game to the course...? With your lessons, I am absolutely crushing it in "practice mode" but as soon as I get to the course, it all seems to go south. I don't feel stressed or nervous but the practice game doesn't seem to translate to what I know I can do on a real course. I'm sure it's 100% in my head but any advice you might have would be appreciated. In the meantime, keep the lessons coming, they are my life line so thank you!

Hi Dan, I'm very glad to learn of the improvements you are experiencing!! There has been quite a bit of dialogue in the Members' Forum of my online school on the topic of how to transport "Ranger Rick" to the golf course. We all experience that! All I can tell you is that it is part of the process, and if your practice mode is delivering consistently solid results then it's just a function of time in terms of when/how that will translate itself to the course. As confidence in your swing grows you should find more and more that you are playing "golf" instead of "golf swing" on the course, at which point your mechanical thoughts will be reduced to one or two at the most, and you will be nearly entirely focused on your target and not your swing. An excellent book that may help you with this is "Fearless Golf: Conquering the Mental Game" by Dr. Gio Valiante. Beyond that, I'd love to see you in the online school and participating regularly in the highly supportive SagutoGolf Community that is growing into something quite special in our Forum! Keep up the great work and have patience - you're definitely getting close!! Tom

I'll get the book you recommended and read it over, it certainly can't hurt. :)

Tom, with so many different esteemed coaches ( A swing, rotary, one and two plane, right sided, single plane etc. Which I've performed well in the past, what makes you so confident in the Stack and tilt system? I am aware it's lineage goes to the golfing machine and morad roots. Please help a searching golfer.
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Todd, Perhaps my best answer to your question can be found in my personal story of "conversion" here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hn6bnYGEp7KDe80. Stack and Tilt is a model of the golf swing based on data from the best golf ball strikers, along with the physics, geometry, and human physiology you reference (TGM, MORAD). There are basic requirements that must be met to hit a golf ball consistently on the center of the clubface with the club bottoming out in the same place every time on the ground. There are also requirements necessary to add power to the golf swing without sacrificing accuracy. Stack and Tilt determined based on a study of the best golfers of all time that they all had these 3 things in common (the 3 main golf fundamentals): 1. Hit the ground in the same spot every time (consistent crispy contact) 2. Have enough power to play the golf course well (POWER) 3. Be able to have a predictable curve (accuracy). A golfer MUST be able to do those 3 things to be good at golf, and Stack and Tilt is a system and a model for accomplishing these fundamentals incredibly well. Please know that due to the volume of comments received here on my channel, I limit myself to one reply per post per video. In other words, if someone makes another comment in a thread that I've already responded to, it is highly likely I will not see it. So if you have a follow-up question then please ask it in a new post. Also, since it looks like you may be relatively new to the channel, I wanted to briefly make you aware of my online school as that is where the most structured opportunity for learning resides, and so many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as enrolled students. I'm glad to learn of your improvement through my channel's instruction!. You've obviously done an excellent job digesting the lesson content, incorporating it into your swing, and taking ownership of it!! I do my best to convey different "feels" or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all unique physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with me may not necessarily work for you. Furthermore, a feel or thought that performs well for you this week may run its course or get overdone and not play out so nicely next week, so it's good to have alternates to call upon if needed. The key takeaway here is that no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the same desired motion or position. (It's like a multiple choice test with no wrong answer!) Beyond that, it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, and much more. Tom Love your lessons have a question on the belt high backswing It seems to have the toe of my iron off the ground and with low hands, Im prone to hitting the ground behind the ball sometimes It feels really solid when hit pure. Is it just a matter of repititions or are there other adjustments I need to make?
@SagutoGolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, I'm glad you are enjoying my content! When you address the ball with your arms hanging down naturally from your shoulders, butt pushed out, and knees slightly flexed and over your toes, the toe of the club should be slightly off the ground with the butt of the club pointing at or near the top of your pants zipper. If your body and club are in these described positions and the toe of the club is very much up off the ground, then you may want to look into having your lie angles checked. If everything checks out okay, then yes - it is likely a matter of repetition and getting comfortable with the weight forward component of this swing so that your low point doesn't shift backwards. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Hi Rob, The weight-forward component is a key facet of the Stack and Tilt method I teach, and I've certainly mentioned it in a number of channel videos. You start with your weight forward (55/45 on the front side; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward. It's all part of a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing! It is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. Hi Saguto! Is it possible that with the 3iron your weight and hips are more forward than with the 8 iron?
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
It's not just possible - it is! We load a little more weight on the front side with the longer clubs at address - more like 60/40 instead of 55/45 with the short and mid irons. that was an interesting one towards the end with the closed stance thing. and, when you stop to think about it, it is virtually impossible to tell whether the stance is closed or not. if you turned your left foot in a bit your stance would be closed in appearance, so it is all relative. but, what you do, before the takeaway, to close your stance, relative to your position, is that you activate the right side of your left calf, bringing your left leg forwards. this is the key to an inside move. so, it is all relative. hogan tweaked his head to the right by adjusting his legs. the recoil in his downswiing realigned it. so, its all relative. but, you're not a proper swing maverick unless you do that one.

the problem that a lot of people have with an inside move is that they feel that they have to move back round from the top. but, that is the worst thing they can do. the left arm and left chest have to work as antagonistic opposites, in the downswing. that is how we increase coil. it's an enantiodromia thing. but which is the dominant force? the arm or the chest? which one is conscious and which one is unconscious- as opposed to subconscious. the key factor there being that the unconscious never was conscious, but the subconscious was.

Welcome aboard, @Hawgslayer7 - I'm very glad to have you in the "extra-crispy buffet"!!! Just a little bit of preliminary advice as you get started. It is crucial to take sufficient time to master the fundamental components of the first couple of chapters! I cannot overemphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when a student jumps ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating himself/herself to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Please have a look at this introductory video if you have not already done so: saguto.golf/courses/1166020/lectures/30347767. Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis service, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. Here's the link with additional information for future reference. app.v1sports.com/Saguto-Golf Finally, please migrate over to the new “Office Hours” forum - which is included in your online school membership - and begin engaging with other golfers in the SagutoGolf community. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I monitor the forum regularly and am a frequent participant in the discussions, including assisting with swing-related inquiries. I really think you’ll enjoy it! I look forward to hearing from you as you work towards building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will give you a lifetime of enjoyment of this great game! Cheers! Tom

Please talk about your finish tho. It has to match up w/ the path which it does. You take it so inside but finish w/ a cut follow through, which is what I’m trying to do. Otherwise it runs away from me to my right, I’m a lefty
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Actually, the stock shot shape for this swing is a push-draw. What may look like a held off "cut" finish is really anything but that! It is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, shot shaping, and much more. The school's intuitive course layout greatly simplifies the entire process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. There's even a members' forum where you can ask me specific swing-related questions, interact with others in the SagutoGolf community, and suggest new content ideas, plus you'll also have access to all exclusive KZbin paid channel members-only content at no additional charge. This will really put you on the fast track towards learning everything in a well-organized, self-guided fashion. It looks like your hands end up shoulder high on the back swing. Do you think k belt high?
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bruce, Since the vast majority of amateur golfers are used to lifting their hands, the belt-high thought is a necessary "feel" to get them into the proper position. At the top, the hands should be deep - behind the trail shoulder - and the lead arm should be at or just below the shoulder line.
