I had a hard time when season 4 came out, but I am endlessly grateful for creators like you who inspired me to discover a passion for storytelling and queer history. I just rewatched the Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (one of my absolute favorite adaptions) and I always think about how I never would have found media like that had I not been part of the community. I am so happy to see you doing well! Thank you for being yourself on the platform when I needed good role models and help understanding my own sexuality:)

Exactly. Now THEIR story is mostly know for queerbaiting by the audience. If they had the guts to get deeper into sherlock and john's relationship the story would be another one, a more successful one for sure

@@peckgardner I can't speak for the rest of the audience, but I personally don't consider BBC Sherlock queerbaiting. I do consider it unfinished, and I also think the writers are doing more with the story than only the queer romance. But I won't derail Rebs' channel to go off on other tangents. You are more than welcome to your own thoughts, I am not here to convince you otherwise, only to make sure my own idea was clear, which I think it wasn't in my first comment.

ah.... thank you rebs for this! i remember being a weird 15 year old so hellbent on tjlc that i literally could not wait any longer for s4 and then subsequently being extremely disappointed when it came out because it literally just did not make any sense at all. i still sometimes go back and watch all of your old tjlc videos as it's actually where i got part of my start in the film/tv industry.... i'm 21 now and if 15 year old me didn't have that obsession of looking into tropes and further meanings of tv shows i wouldn't have my degree in film and be working in television right now! youre the best

I was in Spotify looking for songs to add to a Playlist and "Oh What a Night" came up as suggested. Safe to say my poor shipper heart got triggered, and I avoided it like the plague shouting "NOOOO!" At least you revived it for John and Sherlock in your fic, but still.

Is TJLC really over? I still have hopes in my heart for a series 5, and although s4 didn’t go where people thought it would I still feel that it was an important step for Sherlock and John’s relationship, ending with John opening up and being more vulnerable with him. I think logistically it’ll be hard to get Benedict and Martin together again, but I definitely don’t think this is the end. We may just have to wait.

Argh! Honestly, do you think at some point Moftiss were planning on a romantic and sexual relationship between them and then bailed? I imagine they wanted to get them through all the crazy adventures and to the "Rathbone Place" so they'd be settled, older men with a baby and could be all domestic now that they'd worked on many of their broken bits. But they ran out of runway? As in, they'd have to do a series 5 to really get to it, but Ben and Martin are so famous and busy that it's harder to get everyone in the same place (and Ben's hair grown out)? Author Splix used Mrs Hudson's death as a catalyst for the boys having grief/comfort sex in The Green Gown, I believe. Since Una has passed, I hope she can bring them together in the show, too. I still have hope for Series Five and all it may hold. How about you? Lovely video, by the way. Yes, I was told, and I listened hard and believed. And I still don't know how to feel. @@Book7BrokeMyBrain Quite the same, actually. I still do have hope for season 5 to actually exist and bring us what we (and the characters) deserve and wish for! Johnlock is possible. It is still so possible after season 4. The season ends with them being more domestic than ever. They are back in 221b. They are obviously super happy with each other, they finally are safe and in peace and they have a BABY. If that's not the perfect place to start domestic Johnlock, idk what it is. I actually have no idea how to continue from that point in a platonic and heterosexual way. Season 5 is not officially cancelled, just delayed. The cast has always stated they would love to return once the time is right. If we get season 5, Mrs Hudson's death will be a central plot point. It will show us an emotional Sherlock. In a domestic environment, finally having to open up about being a human being with feelings in front of John. He WILL have a hard time coping with her death. He WILL not understand how much she loved him until someone explains it. John WILL take care of him, because that's what a John Watson does. He promised to do so in front of Mycroft. That's a super big potential for kinda everything

@@butterflymilk6240 Oh yes. Series 5 would definitely have to explore the theme of family. I think we might finally meet Harry. If John stayed closeted because of witnessing his dad's/family's treatment of her when she came out, then now is the time for John to pick at those scabs. I'd LOVE to see Leslie Sharpe play Harry as she looks so much like Martin, and she's already played a divorced, gay alcoholic on Doctor Who. So Moffat is aware her. She'd be perfect. And remember that John and Mycroft are the only siblings of addicts, so there's stuff to unpack there, too. Speaking of family, Sherlock having to deal with Hudders' death, and exploring how much of a supportive parent she was to him would be poignant. And then there's Rosie, and how much Sherlock loves on her as a substitute for loving John. The possibilities are endless.

@@Book7BrokeMyBrain I actually did not know Leslie Sharp until I read your comment. Looked her up and she is exactly the type of person I imagine Harry is! How do you think her character would be? I love how we both have the same ideas for season 5. It definitely needs to focus on John's past. We got a part of Sherlock's, so now I wanna know about John. He definitely went through some shit, many things we saw on the show hint that. I would just love to see that family aspect. How Sherlock treats Rosie would show much about how he thinks about John. Dealing with Hudders' death would definitely get them closer together, I feel like Sherlock would need a lot of support do deal with that, even though he would have a hard time to actually communicate that. Regarding the addiction, I am also super interested in seeing more of his story. How he started, him in rehab (because that would tell us so much about him)
