I'm not sure just why, but this episode seemed to touch me deeply. It was something about the caring of Supervisor Dan with Student Steven in the kitchen. What a wonderful review and amazing support. Dan's growing confidence is a direct result of Dan's caring. And, then I got chills when they announced the winner of the award! Keep doing what you do.

I'm obviously way late on discovering this amazing series, but wow.. this has got to be the best hospice there is. Everyone is so caring and compassionate.. it is beautiful to watch. Little JJ absolutely broke my heart and I'm still in tears.. 😢😭 It was absolutely gut wrenching seeing him in this condition 😢 and now I'm afraid to keep watching.. because I don't want to find out that he has potentially passed... 😭 I don't know how his mother does it but.. it left me sobbing seeing him this way... 😭

Oh my gosh, even I watch it and think I’d like to volunteer. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’m congenitally undependable i might have volunteered at my local hospice by now

I LOVE PATRICIA AND ANDY. Patricia may have smoked, but smoking affects everyone differently. Plus, she may have been in second hand smoke. It really makes no difference. She is such a bright light in this horrible darkness. I need a Patricia in my life. ❤. Same with Andy. His whole outlook on life on life changed when he knew he had a wonderful friend in the last episode. That friend, even though he didn't speak Andy's native language, was there for him and he helped make connections for Andy. NOW, THAT'S A REAL FRIEND. Since that time, Andy's outlook on life has vastly improved and with a translator and possible new friend, who speaks Polish, he will continue to be happier. Although his cancer prognosis was indicated, he could live longer or even get better with a better attitude in life. He was willing to participate in the programs offered, just the language barrier stopped him from socializing. He's a cutie pie. Quite handsome, IMO. Very nice place, Ellinore (SP) and the wonderful caring staff. They all go over and beyond to think about each person and extension of each person and family members. I can not think of another place so caring ❤🥰😍🌹🌸.

The thing is that back then when Patricia (and I) started to smoke, it wasn't considered dangerous AT ALL. No one warned us. And we were hooked. I finally succeeded quitting after 26 years of smoking, and I pray to God that cigarettes will be totally forbidden. In a few years I'll be 60 years old and I am very aware of the lung cancer risk I still have.

I've grown super fond of Andy. He's so grateful and chill about everything. I imagine his experience with houselessness has given him a lot of perspective that other patients don't necessarily have. He's a real cool dude, and it's no wonder he's got such great folks clamoring to help him, even if here at this 11th hour. He deserves it!

I want Sally to Sally me!!!! And what Patricia said about the hospice being a place for living, watching this series has utterly changed my thinking until I absolutely see what she’s saying. I DID see it just as a place to die before, now I have the completely opposite view. What a wonderful place

I was never a believer in complimentary medicine such as reiki, acupuncture etc but had acupuncture after back surgery where I was left with chronic pain on major narcotics including fentanyl patches and oxynorm/oxycontin and I have suffered with insomnia all my life and have been on all the sleeping meds and even with sleeping meds I wake up every90-120minutes so never get a solid nights sleep but have had acupuncture a few times and every single time I have it within hours I feel more relaxed and actually sleep better after having it and seems to last for a few days.Definately with me acupuncture works.

Canadian nursing homes could learn a lot from hospice. Nursing homes are last place you go b4 you die. Hospice centres from all I'm seeing, are there to give you life as best as possible. I mentioned to one of our staff here it's like living in a morgue here on ltc. I mentioned I'd rather live in hospice than here. They claimed to be sad but I'm a born again Christian who is very honest. I call things as I see and experience them. One question for you guys. How are you coping during covid-19? We are in continuous outbreak Taking us back to phase 1 when fellow residents were dying around us daily. They make sure we are isolated with no activities to keep us hopeful and no one visits to see if you we are depressed or anything. No staff checks on us ; they just leave us in isolation until we rot. No one cares here at Hawthorne Place Care (ahem I say do not care) Centre and I don't wish death on myself but IF i can get a better life at hospice (I have many health issues) than I am here why not? Sad I feel this way but from what I see in these specialized places which strive to make people happy and give them a reason to live why am I living in what feels like a funeral home? I pay good $ to live here and would rather put my money in a place where people matter.

Care Homes in the UK can be just the same as you describe in Canada, depressing and lonely. As with everything there are good ones with staff that care and do the job to the best of their ability. You have an anchor with being a Christian, God will always give you strength. God bless you.

The best hospice care is hanging a large sign at the entrance that says “Believe On the Lord Jesus Christ and You Will Be Saved”.

That is an inappropriate comment on a beautiful video like this. When you or your loved one is dying, Jesus won’t be the one changing your diapers, bathing you, or ensuring you have medication to help with your pain. Hospices are incredibly important and downplaying their work just so you can ineffectively proselytize is incredibly obnoxious.

Very inappropriate comment. They don't need your sign, they already do the work of Jesus.
