Seeing that bamboo reminded me of going to the Arashiyama bamboo grove a week after the typhoon in September. It was wild seeing all the destruction it caused. One of the biggest reasons I want to go back to Kyoto is because I ended up missing out on so much because of the typhoon. There were so many places that were either closed or not fully open, or that had a bunch of repairs being done. One of the things I was most disappointed about was that the paths up Mt. Inari were closed. The thing I was next most disappointed about was that I didn't book a tour of the Suntory distillery fast enough, so they all got booked up and I had to settle for just the museum. It's absolutely astounding to me that even at the distillery they don't have any aged whisky for sale, because it sells out too fast. I think my favourite thing from this leg was Pete teaching some random people in Osaka what basically amounts to gibberish.

A “red eye” (tomato juice and beer) is also in the United States. It’s marketed as a Clamato and of Mexican origin, although idk if this is true. I think they’re quite good though. Especially in the summer
