I went through a traumatic attack, which I won't go into detail on here, and I went to some counselling. The therapist said I needed to get out of my comfort zone and stop isolating myself. This didn't make sense to me, as why should I get out my comfort zone if it's where I'm comfortable. Then I listened to this song, and the lyric "All around your island, there's a barricade that keeps out the danger but holds in the pain." And I then realised what this therapist was on about. But it took Tom Petty to make me see sense, So thank you Tom for making me see the light, and Rest in peace Tom, you got your wings now learn to fly.

I hope whatever it was is in the past and you're in a good place. This song helped me in a way words from others couldn't. "I can't hold out forever, even walls fall down." Walking away from something doesn't mean you're a quitter or that you failed it means you've come to realize it's just time to move on waiting too long takes a toll on us we must free ourselves from.

Music has always been one of my biggest comforts and has helped me through some of the toughest moments of my life. Right now this song is helping me to keep going. I miss the heck out of Tom Petty. Comforting and soul crushing is a description of the best part of Life. Holding that dichotomy of emotions is required of all of us and so many fail withhout realizing it; they think the secret to Life is to be "tough". Not true; the secret is holding that dichotomy in your heart.

If anyone doesn't know...the entire alum that this song is on, "She's the One" was orginally supposed to be the second disc to Wildflowers. But, that didn't happen. Petty mentioned this in an interview a couple of years ago. He wanted to tour doing nothing but Wildflowers and this album...but that didn't happen either. The closest he came to that was this last tour being heavy on Wildflowers songs. He is missed.

So somehow this Tom Petty song and video evaded me until today (Dec. 11, 2020), so you can imagine how freaked out I am because how prophetic it comes off...Tom Petty is such a unique artist...yet like a whole bunch of artists all at the same time...he's like a Beatle, like Bob Dylan, could have easily fit right in the Byrds, and yet at the same time, his music is like no one elses, so for me, that's what is so unique about him...he's like a lot of folks, yet there is no one like him...

Love this song my sister and I used to listen to this song and sing it together all the time. I miss those days. Love you Jen. Can’t believe it’s been 2 years ago today that you passed away. All I can say is, “Part of me you carry, Part of me is gone. But baby you got a heart so big it could crush this town and I can’t hold out forever even walls fall down.” Love you little sister until we meet again in the other side of the veil.

Anyone listening right during corona? An unbelievable song, a huge underrated song by Tom's. Saw him perform this on his 40th anniversary tour in Toronto. It was my first and sadly my last time seeing Tom. Went to the concert with my mom and it's something I'll never forget. Such a beautiful song, RIP King!

They're always resonant because he based them around natural law. Learn the Tarot and you'll understand why the lyrics are immortal.

@@melissagerber7231 Tarot is a mnemonic system that encapsulates the wisdom of the ages regarding natural law and life. It's the mnemonics that makes it so powerful. It packs a lot of knowledge into a small number of symbols, geometry, colors, etc. If you google tarot you can get the gist of what it is. Most people confuse it for a future "prediction" system. In reality it can be used to show patterns that COULD occur in your future. Something to be cognizant about, but there are other patterns that could occur too. Which is why people who study tarot study it. You can see all sorts of various patterns that could occur because the elements and dynamics are all based around things are are known throughout time. It's just the issue of the combination of things.

I guess the lesson here is everybody will die no matter how tragic the genius or misery they spread. Just don’t ever take it for granted. As the song says something’s are over, something’s go on , that part of me you carry that part is gone. So simple, so brilliant, and something to always know. As much as we yearn for it we don’t have forever, we have now, so take everything from it. .

Tom Petty was born on October 20, 1950. In Tarot, the Prince of Cups covers the dates Oct 13-Nov 12. The attributes are the Airy part of Water. "Half of me is ocean." (Water), "Half of me is sky." (Air). He's telling you he's the Prince of Cups. You're welcome. This video is full of symbols most of you will never get with out cracking some books and studying.
