It's been 6 years without Tom... A lot has changed in the world since he left us... But one thing that will never change is the satisfaction of sitting down and listening to an unearthed recording of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers jamming on those good ol' days!

My dad knew his dad. They were both from a time where being kind to your children wasn't considered an attribute. How unfortunate for us kids from that time. We had so much to give and a helping hand instead of a cold hand would have propelled us to even greater heights. I didn't know Tom personally but being from Gainesville I certainly knew of him. He did a good job of overcoming. He lived his dream. Became a force to reckon with in music. I am proud for you sir Tom!! Miss your presence in our world and in our daily hearts.

So true. I think their versatility is what helped keep the band going for 40+ years, with new material always around the corner. They kept experimenting and keeping things fresh. From blues like this to classic 60s and 70s covers, to the country/rock/bluegrass of Mudcrutch. Tom, Mike and Ben excelled over it all.

Now that Tom is gone, I have to give his family a LOT of credit. They've treated Tom's memory so well. Not just for the family (which is most important of course) but for the fans as well. I listen to Tom Petty Radio on Sirius/XM every day. The Last DJ segment is proof of how they really care about the people who cared about Tom. Allowing fans to guest host a 5 song spot on their channel weekly and tell the stories of his music in their lives is something I've never heard on any form of radio before. I'm completely in awe of the classy way they have handled this and as a life long fan I can only say thank you.
