I turned 15 in 1990 as well. The 90s gave us some of the greatest music across all genres. Great albums and phenomenal one hit wonders. You could of $5 in the gas tank, another $5 on a pint Seagram's gin, put $5 together with a friend get a dime bag of good weed, $3.21 for a value combo from the drive thru your choosing. The New World Order we were looking for when 2000 came in wound up being the New Woke Order.

@@cadillacblack6488 That was my life story back then too. I lived in AZ along the Colorado River, and I remember the bonfires we had. I feel a bit of sadness at times watching music videos of 1990's hit songs. That decade meant so much to me. Yes, every decade had its BS, but the 1990's for the most part was so awesome. The music, movies, TV shows, video games, sports moments, the fashion...I miss it all. The fact that those were my teen years make me love the 1990's even more. Emerson Hart wrote this song after a tense phone call with his mother. Hart was 21 years old and planning to get married (not what his mother had in mind...). She tried to talk him out of it, but you can't argue with love. Emerson told her "If you could only see the way she loves me, then maybe you would understand", and then he hung up. With his fire sparked, Hart started writing the song, and it came very quickly, with him taking aim at his mother's "manipulations" and "lies" during the strident verses, then slowing it down to present his side of the story in the chorus. The song was very cathartic and helped him work out his feelings, but in the end his mother was right: it didn't work out with the girl and they never got married.

Hell yeah Kimbra circa 1983 right here as well. Boy them 90s sure we're something. When the Internet blew up everything felt as if it was about to be changing for the better. Shit nowadays it's like STOP PLEASE with the changes! I mean sure things that have seriously needed to change have begun to, but look at the shit that's had to happen to start that change.

In before 2020! No but seriously. I still remember the morning, don't remember the exact day but it was December of '97, waking up miserable and heading to work at 3:30AM, getting out to my car and hearing this song on the radio and just being reminded that life was not so bad. Thanks Tonic, I needed it.

My Army example is if you get a single MRE (prepacked meal) but as you hungrily get it unpacked and ready to prep & chow down, say you drop the Beef Pattie main course out of its container, onto the sand/dirt/grit below? My Drill Sergeant said that was "a secret blend of herbs & spices...the Army supplies free, anywhere in the world you may ever be..." The point: you eat it. It will make for a great self-deprecating true story to share later, and you'll be ready for the NEXT time you do it, and just hope you don't lose grip on the prized pasta MRE...the ground pebbles, tiny slivers of old, broken beer bottles, and ant carcasses *may* make for an exciting presentation of your al-dente treat after "re-plating," but I had - sadly - poorer result.

My USMC story: accidentally putting the MRE salt packet in your cold instant MRE coffee. And drinking it anyway because it's coffee and you won't get anything else. Things are as good (or as bad) as you make them. It's a choice.

It might not be apparent at times, but in the end, it doesn't matter. All that matters is how you play the cards you're dealt. Just some words of wisdom from someone who's turning 30 in a few months ;) good luck to everyone though. Some of us have abusive loved ones & sometimes it is better to get away from the negativity. OGkush2011 every generation will look back and nostalgically long for that magic of their youth to return. However the world was rapidly changing and information technology matured. Before people could steal whole catalogs of record companies with a few clicks they put a lot of resources into finding and producing stellar talent. The factors that produced certain media will not repeat and things are only fresh once. You can also argue for every positive that comes with time and change comes a negative. Its up to each of us to dwell on the positives to stay happy.

God Bless Everyone...be happy and thankful for what you have, people die, it happens, death does not discriminate! There's something particularly painful about nineties nostalgia.

You know why ? Because the 80's was the best time to be alive. I was jus 8 years old in 1989 but i remember those last 4 years from 85 to 89 and that my friend is pure gold in my brain.

Yeah, what’s painful is horrible music like this.

For me there certainly is a bittersweet flavor to the nineties and the music from that time. My life turned upside down and I became estranged from my wife and children.

I only had 3 CDs in my car as a teen in the 90s - Gin Blossom's "New Miserable Experience", Live's "Throwing Copper", and Tonic's "Lemon Parade". Didn't need anything else. Didn't want anything else.

I was born in 1990, but my oldest sister was born in 1978. That sounds exactly like her car in the mid 90s lol.

I was born in '78 too. Your sister has great taste.

+Mike F. Great 90's bands but you're still missing out on some other great 90's bands like Third Eye Blind, Matchbox 20, Everclear, Pearl Jam, etc.

To be alive and content in any decade is wonderful. I'm a 70's teen and have special memories from then. I've got special memories in every decade since also. Strive to be content with life. Not saying settle but when times are rough remember the good things. You will find you also will have cherished memories from ever era in you life too. I love music also from before I was born in 1959. Music helps you relive your life. Every genre of music is special to me.
