Love this guy! The way he describes and explains things - you get it. I ve taken classes in different martial arts and I felt useless and lost. Tony makes it easy to comprehend and his demos support it. Just the right amount of humour too! Great content, no ego - just great tips from an very accomplished pro.

@@dxrevelations5111 Bro, he won an olympic medal at boxing and is 9-0-1 in professional fights. Nobody's claiming he's the best, or top-10 or even top-100 of all time, but you're a moron if you don't think he knows something about boxing. There's this really bad tendency of people to dismiss someone simply because they're not "the best" at something. Only one person is "the best" at anything, but that doesn't mean there aren't a lot of people who are knowledgeable about a subject. Stop being reflexively cynical.
@bdruzin2 жыл бұрын
Most of the best baseball managers weren't great players, but middling-to-low major leaguers (often catchers or middle infielders). Often the best teachers aren't the best practicioners, but that's no reason to dismiss their knowledge.

Tony, I recently started boxing, maybe a little bit old to compete (25), so I don't mean to become a big pro, but what I like the most about the sport is the technique, discipline and, oddly, the patience it takes. I bought my double end bag today and just discovered your amazing channel a few hours ago, so I'm certainly looking forward for more. I'm a teacher at college and have a degree in education (yes, that's a thing), so I just wanted to congratulate the work you do, making all your knowledge available to us in such an easy and fluent way. It takes lots of love for what you do to be so naturally educational and clear with this kind of complex subjects, it takes a lot of work and talent too. You, sir, excel at this.

Once again, terrific informative video, Tony. Haven't accessed a Double End Bag for decades. In those days they were called Crazy Balls or Floor To Ceiling Balls. I only really learnt 1,1, 2 and 1,1,1,2, both combos ending with a Left Hook to the body ( bottom of the bag), and stepping with each Jab. I wish I had access to all this knowledge decades ago, with the slipping exercises and how to throw a precursory, modified Left Hook head strike. Just haven't got anywhere to hang one ATM. Brilliant martial art apparatus are Double End Bags. I thought they were excellent for developing speed too.

I only used a double maybe 30 times, age 13-18. I only used other bags 2 or 3 times. I'm a rookie for sure. Now I'm 52, and bought one. lol I'm of course barely scratching the surface... I've hit this one maybe 4 sessions, for about 40 minutes. It seems to me, one can definitely gauge strength using a double ended bag, same as a heavy bag. I say that because the volume, the pop, the explosion you hear from a actual hard hit on center, is crazy, compared to 90% punch. So, to me, so far, I think a heavy bag is almost pointless. So far, I think a speed bad is almost pointless, when this double ended peanut shaped bag, is available, with plenty tension on the cords. Man oh man. Incredible practice for defense, incredible gauging of strength (eventually), and practicing timing, is plenty plenty good also. Lol. So... The movement is insane. I can raise or lower it, if ever my shoulder needs rest.... Your videos are quite helpful. Thank you!
