I like my kindness I like my eyes God I really needed this today, recently I auditioned for Sandy on grease (I am short, latina, brown hair and eyes) and the director said my voice was perfect for the role but he couldn't cast me as Sandy because I didn't looked like Olivia Newton John and yeah it kind of got to me, but you really cheered me up!!

OMG! That is sooo bad. I’m Mexican and I deal with this problem too. But you know what, talent is the only thing you need. My teacher just saw my potential and she let me be Sandy, so, I encourage you to audition for whatever you want. Because talent is the only thing necessary

I’m sorry that you didn’t get the role over that BS reason! I’m not surprised if the girl, who got the role of Sandy sucked in the role. 😡👎🖕. Max Crum won the role of Danny on the TV show “Grease: You’re the One That I Want”, despite of him being the least physically attractive guy amongst the other candidates. So happy that Max best those 💩 talking, hunky beefcake competitors of his! 👏😆👍🤩

I had a really tough audition today, so I need this: 1.) I’m really inclusive, and I like to say I’m a sweet person, even though a little naive 2.) I like that I have a loud belt, and I’m 5’2”. It's almost 2 years after you posted this and I can say this has helped me SOOOOO much. I've been feeling insecure about how I look (I'm 5'1 1/2 and I already stopped growing while I just turned 15, maybe I'll be 5'3 but more than that definetely not, and I'm also fatter then all of my friends, but the fattness is something I learned to deal with) but I've been feeling more insecure about my skills with singing. Singing is really something that I find very very veryyy scary. Around 2 years ago I got cast in a school production and then everyone had to sing so the singing coach could see if we were all able to sing good enough for solo's. I was the youngest there and all the other people kinda shot me out. At that time I was new at that school so it was horrible. All the girls had to sing this horrible song which was very high, and I never sung so high. He would walk by and hear who were able to sing. The people who were'nt good enough he send to the side. You can guess what happened: I got send away, along with 1 other girl who didn't even want to try doing her best. I cried in myself, I remember being so damn sad and scared that they would see that I was holding back tears. ' Last year we had auditions for the new production (I'm from the Netherlands, we don't do shows very often) and that time you had to sing at the audition. The same singing coach would take a group of like 7 to a diffrent room to sing and we had to sing this very weird riddle with a strange melody. That time he would write down if you were good enough, so I didn't know if he found me good enough. I got in the prodution again, but my best friend who had been in the previous didn't. So I had to do it without her while she was so sad and though she wasn't good enough. I have to sing a trio with another girl and a guy. Me and the girl sing together to the guy. Here my insecurety pops up again. The other girl looks like she isn't insecure about her singing. While she just sings that song that is awfully high again I stand there like an awkward potato. (Also, I don't think that the singin coach said I coud sing solo, because that song we're singing is like us as a friend group but I think that something went wrong with the list of yesses and no's cause he looked not so happy that I was the one that had to sing it too) Now the production is maybe not even going to happen because the directress had her 3rd kid a year ago and she is 'out of the running' for quit a while. Maybe the singing coach will do the production, we don't know. ~lol I don't know were I'm going wiwth this story I'm just gonna write down my life for anyone who'll read this hi I love you~ Also I did like musical beside school and we did legally blonde I was a professor like from Harvard because I got in when the rehearsels were already happened so they just got me that role. Then we did Grease and I got Sandy but again: they scrapped Hopelessly devoted to you and they said it was beause it wouldn't be fair to the other kids and it would be too long but the other kids were like wtf let her sing that song (Danny got to sing all of his songs and even Rizzo) and it wasn't too long it was like an hour so you could see they did it becase they found I couldn't sing good enough. All these teachers made me believe I can't sing but you know I really think that I can sing. I know what the singing coach likes: High. previous production one girl sang a solo he said along with all the others omg was so good while it sounded horrible lol all of my friends and stuff who saw the show hated how she sang so maybe it's just taste a lot too. I'm just gonna keep on singing and enjoying it and I've had private singing lessons but that guy stopped after 6 weeks because he got a better job or something. Now I'm searching for a new one and I think I found one that I like. I want to be a musical star, on Broadway (same as everyone here lol). My acting is at the point were I think it's really good and my dancing too and deep in my heart I know that my singing is too but I just need the securety to show it. Oh yeah and I like my hair and eyes and that if someones depressed I can talk to them and they feel better(I'm just there for anyone who needs me) i feel arrogant now. I feel so mmotivated by this now lol

love, love, LOVE this video, Kath! So much wisdom and empowerment in this. I had a professor point out in class all the pretty girls and let them know that they're the young and beautiful ingenues who fall in love, and then proceeded to tell my friend and I (who are plus size women) that we have to play the roles of moms, teachers, or even villains but would never play ingenues because of how we look. It really hurt me and my friend, especially because this professor was plus sized herself but told us what we "could and couldn't do". Fun fact: I was the understudy for Mabel in Pirates of Penzance and the lead role in an original musical, both characters aren't moms, teachers, or villains. Best moments ever.

I'm panicking, my anxiety is taking over, how am I going to get a song and a monologue down in 7 days?! I'm shy, I'm just going to break onstage, I'm breaking a little bit just thinking/writing about it, I'm not that good at singing anyway, I've never even heard the soundtrack to the musical I'm trying out for. I start to feel helpless, I know I'm going to be stuck in the chorus, I think this is what a panic attack feels like. External: my petite figure and my curls Internal: my positivity and over-achieving nature Thank you so much for this video and for all of your positive, warm videos. You have a wonderful composure that I aspire towards. I sometimes let things intimidate and bring me down- usually my own internal vampires and you’ve inspired me to slay all of them! Thank you!❤️

I like my honesty because it tends to stifle drama, and I love my legs because they’re long but also give me curves

Thank you for talking about this Katherine. Things like this are huge parts of the industry, but we never seem to talk about them, when the only way to handle them is to come together.

This challenge is hard but I feel like it’s a great reminder for us to do every time we’re having a down day to see something we like in ourselves!! I like how friendly/welcoming I am too! I try to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible! I also like my eyes 👀💞 thank you for another wonderful video!!

This was such an uplifting video Kath, thank you so much, the Theatre Thursday Fam loves you. 💕 My favorite thing about myself internally is that I'm good at understanding very different opinions and points of view and that makes me a very open-minded person. :) Externally, I'd say I like my hair. It's thick, voluminous, shiny, and has a very unique caramel color!

Thank you so much, I really needed this video in my life. Internal: Quick-thinking and creativity External: My eyes? I am 5 feet and have a lot of chub and fat. But I aspire to be a dancer in musical theatre. I have just been turned down by a dance college and that was my vampire. Because everyone there was taller, skinnier, more flexible and I just felt like I wasn't meant to be there. So thank you so much for saying these kind words and I'll try to keep moving forward.

Internal: I love how I can make friends easily. External: My smile its the only good thing. I auditioned for a presenter in a play for my school. The presenter is the main role and I got it, i was freaking out. This was the first time ever acting properly in something.

So I have watched this a bunch today because I had a panic attack about my body this morning. Something internal that I like about myself is that I’m a really funny person and I have a bunch of theater knowledge. Something external is my hair! I have some of the thickest hair in my family. Thank you so much for this vid Kat

I’m really small, 4’11, so I sympathize with you on that lady saying you won’t make it because you’re 5’2. As for the challenge, I really like how thick and wavy my hair is and I like my resilience ☺️

I like how kind I am to others and how I always try my best to build others up, I like my eyes. Thank you for making this. It really made me feel better cause I love theater and my low self esteem always seems to get in the way of that. People tell me I'm too awkward for theater, or I look a lot younger than I actually am and won't be able to play certain parts for that but I love theater and it is really important to me. So thanks again, I love your videos and I hope you have a great day! 💕✨

This was SUCH a great video Katherine! Thank you. Also 5' 2". Also a soprano. 1. Internal: When people close to me are down or have problems I am there for them and I am cheery and positive as can be, no matter how i feel. External: I love my eyes and I really do love my body, most of the time

This makes me feel so happy. I’m always worried that I won’t get lead female roles because I’m too fat. Thank you so much, you are one of my biggest inspirations!❤️❤️❤️ (I love how I’m not afraid to sing in front of anyone anymore and I love my teeth lol😂)

Katherine this video speaks to me so personally right now. I have so much insecurity with theatre right now and it's been causing a lot of emotional turmoil so this video is a gift. I gained a lot of weight in the past two years (bc college DX) and it really took a toll on my self esteem because typically you only see my casting type (ingenue) as skinny and petite. I'm just not super petite in general so it really hurt. My insecurities also lie with my voice because it's still developing but not where I want it to be and it just hurts so much when I love theatre more than anything but I never feel good enough to ever play a lead. I don't mean to tell my life story but I'm just so emotional because this video is seriously a blessing right now. Thank you so much Katherine you're a huge inspiration for me in musical theatre.

Oh boy, i don't like that challenge, but here goes. I like my eyecolor i guess? I have every color smushed together, so they kinda look like a painters palette. Internally is more difficult cause that's what i'm most insecure about.. Maybe my empathy? Even though it's exhausting.. Oh this was such an empowering video! I'm a person with little to no self esteem, but i'm determined to kill the vampire! KILL IT WITH FIYAAH!!

I love how caring I am I love my face when I turn at the right angle in the mirror 😄 and my eyes when I am wearing mascara (and sometimes without) Thanks for this x It's always been a concern of mine that I can't make my dreams come true because if the way I act or look, so it's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one with insecurities, and that dreams *do* come true. You're living proof Xx ❤️

I like my kindness, and I also think my eyes are very pretty. I genuinely seemed out this video on your channel because I just got into my dream school for Musical Theatre and I’ve been feeling so insecure and that I’m not skilled enough to be an MT, not pretty enough, too fat to be an MT, and I really needed to hear this today, because I need to focus not on things that lead to me not growing, because I am a Musical Theatre major so I can improve as a performer. Thank you so much Katherine for this video, I love you so much 💕

I loved this video, it was so uplifting and it really made me think of myself in a different light. I’d have to say my favorite thing about me externally is my eyes. They’re a nice, dark brown and they get lighter in the sunlight. My favorite thing internally would probably have to be how honest I am... it’s a blessing and a curse, but it makes me more trustworthy.

I love that i care so much about others and love making people happy. I love my eyes and how much emotion they can convey. I hope you know just how important your videos are. I love theater more than anything, i act, direct and produce now. Watching your videos has given me so much more confidence as i start that journey and it makes me so happy to just sit and listen to you talk while i wash my face or pack my dance bag. You make me laugh, you help me through panic attacks and you make me want to be a better person. So thank you for this and for everything you do here 💜
