I feel like you didn't John your tool board, so you got bored with it. You always take a simple project to another level with some of your off the wall ideas (table saw blade remover comes to mind). I think you'd still benefit from a tool board, just one with more YOU in it.

I have a combination of tool chests and a tool board for my larger and frequently used rulers and squares. They are on the same wall and my primary 4' x 8' work table is in the middle of the room. I don't have to walk anywhere, just turn around and there they are. Easier than stretching over a work table and with it in the middle of the room larger projects can hang off the sides without concern for a wall in the way. Where I stand is also the walkway from one end to the other of my long narrow shop so I'm using space that would otherwise be "wasted". I primarily do layout and assembly on the side of the table near the tools and use the other side of the table for sanding. I keep screws in plastic canisters that are empty snack containers (think "mixed nuts", etc.). The lids keep the dust out and keep them from spilling if I knock them over. I also label the lids with the contents and store them in a drawer so I'm looking down at the labels. They are easy to carry to where I need them, or just place them on the table where I'm working. The openings are big enough to get my hands in and out of or I can just pour some out. They're also "free", if you're buying snacks anyway. An alternative might be the commercial parts trays designed to hang on a rail, but without lids I can see myself knocking several over and making a mess, plus the dust issue.

How on Earth can drawers be more efficient than wall hung? The order is as follows- 1) Wall (cleats, pegboard, etc) One touch ( hand goes to the tool, which you can see) 2) Drawer. Three touch (open, grab, close). 3) Toolbox on pull-out Five touch (pull, lift, grab, lower, push) 4) Systainer on pull-out. Seven touch (pull, unlock, lift, grab, lower, lock, push) (the rotating lock means you cannot leave it unlocked as it fouls the box above) 5) Toolbox. Seven to nine, depending on if it needs to be moved to a surface to open. Around 2 to 3 it becomes too much trouble to return the tool mid-job, and the surface clutter begins. You can have an efficient workshop, or a pretty workshop, you cannot have both.

Totally unrelated to the board removal, but I noticed that - as in the UK - appliances like your heater come with a safety tag fixed to its cable at the plug end. They are such a pain! They are impossible to tear off without the use of a knife or scissors, and even then usually leave a sticky residue that needs white spirit to remove to prevent it picking up all the dust and dirt in the shop! And its really nothing to do with the safety - its there so that the maker can't be sued for failing to warn us stupid users not to do something daft!

I have never found any parts bin/cubby solution that I liked. always too hard to get stuff in and out, dirt and shit falling in, hard to size, blech. These days Harbor Freight storage cases with removable cups is my answer for basically everything. Love the toolbox. I saw you said in a comment that you have the air compressor in the shed. I’d love to put mine outdoors to save on space and get the noise further away. I haven’t because I’d heard it was a bad idea to run it in freezing temps, that it can lead to condensation freezing and the oil being so thick that the compressor pops a circuit breaker on startup. Have you had any problems? Do you take any steps to avoid these potential problems? Thanks again for all the awesome content.

You'll be sorry... Toolbox- limited space, pull out the drawer, hunt for the tool, push the drawer back in- 3+ operations. Even worse if you pick the wrong drawer the first time. :( Toolboard- lots of space, reach out and grab the tool- 1 operation. After awhile you can do it in the dark. For the tools that you use the most often- it is more efficient to have them on the toolboard. If you use it once a week, put it in a toolbox drawer.

I don't want to sound mean in any way or be disrespectful, but honestly you seam like a mad man in this video. IF I WANNA GET THE VIEWS ON A VIDEO, I NEED TO MAKE AN ATTRACTIVE PICTURE!, I NEED TO MAKE SOMETHING EYECATCHING!" I really hope this was just very good acting or i don't know you enough (i've been watching for years, but i am not your psychologist), but really it sounds like the words of a man that has gone insane over the youtube dashboard, and i wouldn't blame you! I hang my tools on the wall aswell, in a simpler way though. I affixed a OSB Board to the wall and whenever i want to hang something somehere i just add a screw and hang it from there. Not as nice looking as yours, but it is super simple and versitle. i am planning to redoo mine very soon aswell, as i ran out of space and also i want to brighten the next one up with some white paint.
