One of the greatest bands ever(TOOL), Maynard James Keenan, because you're awesome & so happy you like it! :D TOOL is about to release an album, first in like 14 years. That's probably why it just popped up for you(trending now). If I were you, I'd start listening to their oldest stuff first. Seriously, it's so good. I credit this band(along with a couple of others) for keeping me from ending my life in my teen years. Things were super rough. Family wasn't there for me; only music. TOOL's music is therapeutic for a lot of people. Now you have the advantage of being able to look up their lyrics & music videos easily. :) In the 90s & early 2000s, we didn't have that option as much. It was very hard to find this stuff, which made it more adventurous, but still. ;) I'd say check out their music videos first... You can listen to their albums from start to finish; it's an experience. If you smoke weed, that also adds some fun, lol. Happy trails, Miquel! :D

I was at university, in the midst of studying for a degree that I did not like anymore, upset with the world after having recently lost my father, and going nowhere. This song was recommended in my feed and I had listened only to a few songs off 10,000 Days at the time. I listened to this song for what felt like hours, coming to the realisation that I am not happy here, only doing this degree because it was something that my father didn't disprove of. I was angry at him and in turn angry at myself. I decided from that day forward I was going to make sure that I was going to do what made me happy and glad to simply be. I wasn't going to live my life accomplishing other people's goals except for my own. This song and Tool have changed me, for the better. Cannot thank this group enough for that, they helped me forgive my father.

But Alas, Here I am today, right now, enjoying this music and working from home on the architectural plans for a 50,000 s.f. Custom home along PCH1 in Pacific Palisades, Ca. I could have held a grudge and it would have held me back. I could choose to keep thinking about all that I lost or even never had but where is the Effen challenge with that. There are many things that you dont' get to choose but how you decide to deal with any situation is YOUR choice. When the dust settles anyone who is not on your side never was and that's fine by me. When the world tries to kick you in the ass, turn around take it with a smile then perry and punch that mother fucker right in the nose. "For the lyrics on Laterlus, I wanted to address the same kind of stuff as Ænima. I wanted to explore that sense of release, kind of combining archetypes with where we were in our lives at that point. On the previous album, we had gone through that whole transformation, what some refer to as the "Saturn return" - your 28th or 29th year, when you're given the opportunity to transform from whatever your hangups were before and to let the light of knowledge and experience lighten your load, so to speak, and let go of old patterns and embrace a new life. It's kind of the story of Jonah and the belly of the whale. You kind of sink or swim at that point. And a lot of people don't make it. Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain didn't quite make it past their Saturn return. For me, starting to recognize those patterns, it was very important to start constructing songs that chronicled that process, hoping that my gift back would be to share that path and hope that I could help somebody get past that spot. And the first step in that is just being aware of it." (MJK)

Lifts you up like a child or Drags you down like a stone To consume you till you choose to let this go Choose to let this go Give away the stone Let the oceans take and trans mutate this cold and fated anchor Give away the stone Let the waters kiss and trans mutate these leaden grudges into gold Let go

I will forever be in love with this band. I don't know how to describe their music other than it just being so freakin awesome. I mean there isn't a song that I dislike of theirs, the drums, the bass, the guitar and the vocals are just pure perfection on every song. Very rarely do I come across a band that has more than a couple songs I like and watching the videos for TOOL'S music makes me feel like I am being transported to another planet with all these strange creatures surrounding me. lol. Also, I can't relate to anyone who doesn't know who TOOL is, we def wouldn't be compatible because I talk about/listen to this band everyday.
