Same, man. I was five years old the first time I heard them. It was the video for Sober (which five year old me found fucking fascinating) and I was hooked. I am now pushing 40 and this band is one of the only constants I am sure I will still want in my life even if I live to be 100. If anything, they get better as I get older somehow.

I'm 58 and I've been listening to Tool since Prison Sex came on MTV in '93. Without a doubt, the greatest rock band of the 21st century. While I do love all my classic rock, metal and alternative, there are none like Tool. Lyrically untouchable. Musically complex and deep. Some of the best musicians on the planet. Who else can take a 13 year hiatus and come back with a no1 album?

One of the greatest bands ever(TOOL), Maynard James Keenan, because you're awesome & so happy you like it! :D TOOL is about to release an album, first in like 14 years. That's probably why it just popped up for you(trending now). If I were you, I'd start listening to their oldest stuff first. Seriously, it's so good. I credit this band(along with a couple of others) for keeping me from ending my life in my teen years. Things were super rough. Family wasn't there for me; only music. TOOL's music is therapeutic for a lot of people. Now you have the advantage of being able to look up their lyrics & music videos easily. :) In the 90s & early 2000s, we didn't have that option as much. It was very hard to find this stuff, which made it more adventurous, but still. ;) I'd say check out their music videos first... You can listen to their albums from start to finish; it's an experience. If you smoke weed, that also adds some fun, lol. Happy trails, Miquel! :D

I remember where I was when I first heard this. I was at university, in the midst of studying for a degree that I did not like anymore, upset with the world after having recently lost my father, and going nowhere. This song was recommended in my feed and I had listened only to a few songs off 10,000 Days at the time. I listened to this song for what felt like hours, coming to the realisation that I am not happy here, only doing this degree because it was something that my father didn't disprove of. I was angry at him and in turn angry at myself. I decided from that day forward I was going to make sure that I was going to do what made me happy and glad to simply be. I wasn't going to live my life accomplishing other people's goals except for my own. This song and Tool have changed me, for the better. Cannot thank this group enough for that, they helped me forgive my father.

I Had a brief moment in time with a similar feeling when i was old enough to be told that I was adopted and that my Real Mother and Father were taken within 12 hours of each other right after Christmas Day. "Tis the season to be Jolly" hmmmm. Didn't have a chance to study at a college for any type of degree. But Alas, Here I am today, right now, enjoying this music and working from home on the architectural plans for a 50,000 s.f. Custom home along PCH1 in Pacific Palisades, Ca. I could have held a grudge and it would have held me back. I could choose to keep thinking about all that I lost or even never had but where is the Effen challenge with that. There are many things that you dont' get to choose but how you decide to deal with any situation is YOUR choice. When the dust settles anyone who is not on your side never was and that's fine by me. When the world tries to kick you in the ass, turn around take it with a smile then perry and punch that mother fucker right in the nose. Then you can laugh and say now that's done can we move on I got some shit to do. Que Next Tool Song.

"For the lyrics on Laterlus, I wanted to address the same kind of stuff as Ænima. I wanted to explore that sense of release, kind of combining archetypes with where we were in our lives at that point. On the previous album, we had gone through that whole transformation, what some refer to as the "Saturn return" - your 28th or 29th year, when you're given the opportunity to transform from whatever your hangups were before and to let the light of knowledge and experience lighten your load, so to speak, and let go of old patterns and embrace a new life. It's kind of the story of Jonah and the belly of the whale. You kind of sink or swim at that point. And a lot of people don't make it. Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain didn't quite make it past their Saturn return. For me, starting to recognize those patterns, it was very important to start constructing songs that chronicled that process, hoping that my gift back would be to share that path and hope that I could help somebody get past that spot. And the first step in that is just being aware of it." (MJK)

this is why I love Tool, the more you listen to their music, the more it feels like it isn't JUST music. It's more like a journey and a deep spiritual feeling that doesnt go away. It just gets better the more you listen to them. It's crazy that I've listen to their albums for years on now for almost every day and don't get tired of them. Many songs out there hit hard and stay with you for a while, and you move on. But not Tool. Tool is not like that for me, which is why I love them so much

So true! I don't listen to them on daily basis but when I get back to an old song of their which I love, every time I discover some new meaning in the lyrics or capture sounds I haven't noticed before

@@michaelburman2108 I really enjoyed my first listen. Haven't checked out the lyrics yet. It seemed to convey sorrow. The theme in my head was some kind of departure. I imagined being in a space capsule leaving Earth and witnessing how it's torn apart while drifting into the black unknown.

For anyone who cares: story time. I'm a drummer. I was always interested in the math of odd time signatures. Prior to this album I had started to become obsessed with the 5. And I was also obsessed with Tool. Then at that moment my favorite band released an album almost completely based on 5's. Just really weird. It felt like it was divine. I dont know... just really strange timing. This album is mind blowing.

I will forever be in love with this band. I don't know how to describe their music other than it just being so freakin awesome. I mean there isn't a song that I dislike of theirs, the drums, the bass, the guitar and the vocals are just pure perfection on every song. Very rarely do I come across a band that has more than a couple songs I like and watching the videos for TOOL'S music makes me feel like I am being transported to another planet with all these strange creatures surrounding me. lol. Also, I can't relate to anyone who doesn't know who TOOL is, we def wouldn't be compatible because I talk about/listen to this band everyday. This is a band I have listened to since I was a teenager and some call it weird and wicked music but that's what I love about it, it's different and that's what I relate to. ❤
