I think you guys nailed it with King of Tokyo and Betrayal at House on the Hill. Both of those games are very popular, destined to be classics, that really would benefit greatly from a deluxe treatment. The other games, not so much. The game I'd most love to see get a deluxe treatment is The Resistance. A nice heavy mounted score board with big chunky molded plastic pawns for each faction. The mission selection and voting tiles could be that heavy, marble-like plastic used for Mahjong tiles or Backgammon chips. Alternatively they could be clay like professional poker chips. The secret identity and plot thickens cards could be upgraded to plastic stock. I'd love to see the Avalon role characters adapted to be characters in dystopian future world of The Resistance and also be included in this. Finally, the game would be packed up in a nice deluxe case. Wood would be ok, but perhaps acrylic to fit in the futuristic theme. The Resistance can be played with a deck of normal playing cards if you wanted, but I would drop some serious cash for a primo deluxe edition such as this.

For Zooloretto, the animals could be small miniatures in clear plastic cubes. Like ice cubes. Also, for King of Tokyo, the base of the monster could hold values for life and victory points.

Zee- "Holograms!! Haven't you been paying attention!?!" LOL! I'm more a light/introductory wargamer myself, and I'm largely unfamiliar with the majority of the games you guys talk about in your top ten lists, but I wouldn't miss an episode! Not only do I get to learn about games I would not otherwise spend much time myself looking at, but the three of you guys seem to have such a good time making these vids. If I could have one game done deluxe style, it would be an old game called "Aliens" and the one expansion that was made for it. Based on the second movie in the Alien series of movies, it was a nifty little, as you guys say, dungeon crawl type game. It had some of the very first stand up cardboard pieces that I had ever seen, and was just a fun little game, especially if you were a fan of the movie. Plastic figs, mounted mapboard, supe'd up components...just my .02 cents.

Funny...I think one of the coolest parts about The Duke is the fact that it does use those incredibly fine wooden pieces. If they had been plastic, I probably never would have bought the game.

You guys mentioned a lot of the ones I was thinking of, like Flashpoint, Roborally, King of Tokyo, and Betrayal at House on the Hill. Here are a few I'd like to see: Commands and Colors Ancients - Add minis instead of blocks. Wouldn't need to be painted, but at least render each type of unit the same color. Add in 3D terrain and you're golden. Suburbia - Better art and components. Twilight Struggle - Better art and components. Blow the map up so that smaller minis could replace the cubes on the individual countries. Lords of Vegas - Add in the expansion. Use blocks to represent casino spaces instead of cardboard pieces. Ditch the paper money for poker chips.

I just remembered one that would be super cool with a simple upgrade. Pocket Battles! Remake the carboard tiles using domino sized bakelite. Same colors, same art, just indented and a nice small wood box to carry them in. Inside the box, there's a domino army neatly packed on each side with a wooden insert for matching dice in the middle. The box is in two parts, a top and bottom, so each player has a place to roll their dice when you play. Just simple and elegant.

Question, for all of you that play a much more diverse arrangement of tabletop games than I get to; is there any tabletop games that handle high buildings well? Be it their mechanics, in a way that they still get their hight theme across, or actual board pieces? Any at all, pieces and/or mechanics, that handles a fairly decent three dimensions high story element? This episode brings up Queens Gambit, which I've played a few times, and the following banter got me thinking on some old "make a game out of these three random words/traits" challenge which some how lead me to one being "skyscrapers" along with postapocalypse and nature, and I have that theme so well pictured. I guess Spank the Monkey is about hight, but in a very two dimensional and simple card game way. Then there's Rawr! that also has multistorey building in it, but again party or family game, same with Jenga and so on. Any worker placement or atleast more meaty games that handle anything like that in a smart or atleast interesting way? PS. Gosh darn it, now I have to hunt down Monsterpocalypse miniatures to use with my King of Tokyo!

Star Wars: Queen's Gambit (which they show and talk about) and maybe Cloud 9 (I believe that is the name). It is a balloon game where you press your luck on when to jump out of the balloon's basket. Comes with cards, a board, and a balloon basket on stilts to give the illusion of height.

Well the 1st game that comes to my mind is "hey that's my fish". By make the tiles plastic and slightly interlocking kinda like heroscape tiles, would keep the board together much better. This would be something that I would buy again.

I think a Deluxe version of X-Wing Miniatures Core Set would be great! Nothing really new but maybe a Core Set could contain more minis - 3 TIE/ln, 2 TIE Interceptors, 1 TIE Bomber, 1 X-Wing, 1 A-Wing, 1 B-Wing - with respective cards. And maybe a playmat. That way, you can get a feel for multiple fighters out of the Core Set and have a starfield background with it.

I don't see fiber optics being too useful on power grid, cause hooking things together would be kinda tricky, but making a metal board with a small charge to power some LED's would be a LOT easier, and can be done very low current so that it won't be dangerous. (Think Operation tech)
@johnr809510 жыл бұрын

What if in "Smash Up" the bases were 3D with slots according to their break point. Then each faction would have a pool of cool figures that you would place in the base when you played a minion card. It would actually help visualize how close the base was getting to breaking.

The island would be 3d, the hammock for resting, the tools all have miniatures, each player has a miniature, along with Friday and the dog. each scenario comes with a scoresheet "post-it-note" like pad, and to top it all off, a hologram of Ignacy Trzewiczek that has a button, and everytime you do a good move you have the player push the button and Ignacy complements you. hahaha and Sam, I just noticed that your shirt is a Christian shirt! Battle Star Galactica with actual miniatures for the various characters AND a Cylon version of them all beaten and battle scarred up - then have the Vipers and Cylon ships on little flight stands AND painted up with a little clear plastic clip on the stand for you to put your character token into. Or... Merchants & Marauders with even more tricked out ships all painted up to their national colours. Each of the player colours has painted sails but the ships themselves look standard (so green sails for green player etc). Galaxy Trucker with little plastic tiles instead of the cardboard ones. The crew compartments actually have places for the people to stand, the battery holders can clip in those little tic-tac things and the cargo bays can house the cubes (which would be neon coloured!) in the square spaces. It would be a bit bulkier but would look awesome! Would actually look like a proper ship once you'd finished it all off and the tile grabbing element would be like diving into a real junk yard. Also have proper ships for the player markers rather than weird noses things! Lords of Waterdeep with the hero meeples the dude came up with instead of the cubes. The money tokens are upgraded to plastic ones and the victory points are little red plastic gems. Maybe even have the agents look like 'agents' in cloak and dagger outfits rather than just pawns. The Lt. actually looks like a Lt and the other important one looks like what he is meant to be (the name escapes me!)

Castles of Burgundy- add bigger tiles and player boards. Make the artwork prettier looking- make it look vibrant like your building a living city. Thicker tile pieces and player boards. Tiles could interlock so they don't bump the others around. 1775 rebellion: map painted with terrain/images and instead of just cubes have painted miniatures for the various armies. Better quality dice. Legends of Andor: add minis instead of cardboard cutout and the items purchased from the merchant can be snapped on. Customized dice instead of those cheap tiny wooden ones. What about a deluxe version of caverna? Comes with a life size cave filled with real rubies. The game is amazing but, seriously, if what if they went euphoria style with the components? And added dwarf miniatures on which you could equip their weapons.

The people who make "Betrayal at House on the Hill" need to sign a deal to make themed versions of the game like Scooby-doo with resin figures. Make the base set of the current game with vinyl tiles, resin models and nice cards, then put out the themed pop-culture expansions that basically just change out the player's choice of charaters. Kevin Smith's 'The Clerks' going to a house party version, or a Herold & Kumar's ride with friends version. Even a 'Friends' reunion version might be fun. If you don't want to bother with the liscensing and making character models, you could just sign a deal with HeroClix, like other games have done. The expansions really just make the base set components worth upgrading.

Tsuro - my copy of this casual maze game gets more play in more contexts than anything else I own (5-60 year olds, students, gamers, non-gamers, parents, etc). It's fast, it's fun, and it's easy to explain or to do in the background of a conversation. My only complaint is that the tiles and board are already getting wear and tear - they're good quality, but will only hold up to so much use. Yeah, but Jedi kind of does as well, mostly because of the Ewoks.

Genius, I love Queens Gambit, but that would blow it away.

Randall Adkins Yeah sure, but nowhere as bad as Ep 1... And it would have more iconic minis. Who doesnt love the millenium falcon ? And who wouldnt like some AT-ST minis ? You could also add some speeder bikes. These would motivate sales alone !

Deluxe Jamaica is a brilliant idea... and should include those super-rare extra treasures.

Arkham Horror Insanity Edition: the painted miniature investigators, plus painted minis for each monster (count, not just type). All expansions, make all cards full size, and probably need the boards to be 2-3 times larger....also provide more than 5 dice in the box. Oh, upgrade the investigator sheets to have built in sliders instead of those Dr. Mario pills they give you. Also, after watching this, I want Sam's fiber optics for the box and boards.
