I really don't understand why these analysts always so easily pick Orr over Lidstrom. I know Orr was great in his time but Lidstrom just has 1 Norris less and did it all in a much tougher era. With Lidstrom, it was faster, nastier and against much more skilled players on each team. Basically the comments on Ovechkin also go for Lidstrom, a superstar D-man that shutdown superstars in a league filled with them. Add to that that he DOES have 4 cups, olympic gold, conn smythe, 7 Norris, never missed the playoffs and almost no missed games in his 20 year career. Succes, skill and longevity = Best D-man of all time in my opinion.

Lidstrom doesn't even beat out Bourque for best d-man ever never mind Orr. Bourque has more assists than Lidstrom has career points and finished with a better career plus/minus. Bourque did it during the time when the league actually had 50 goal scorers on a regular basis. Orr is hands down the greatest defenseman ever and could be considered with Gretzky the greatest hockey player ever. Get back to me when Backstrom wins the Hart, Norris, Ross and Smythe all in one season never mind the fact Orr also was rookie of the year and is the only defenseman to win the Ross and Pearson/Lindsay awards and he won the Ross twice.

Crosby has had two seasons over forty goals and Gretzky didn't go below 40 until his 14 th year and Crosby has had only 4 100 point seasons how is that the best of all time evegeni malkin is better he is more consistent has been in the league one less season played 80 less games and is only about one or two seasons off in scoring as the number two guy he does better without Crosby I will take consistency over flash any day malkin gets it done Crosby is a distraction he had two good years the others were slightly above average for a teams number one scorer who is being overhyped because of the team around him and coming into the league so young he has hall of fame potential but not top 20 of all time potential many pass him in the center position alone
