I would like to add another reason: The Vehicles were a threat. in BF3 and BF4, everyone has rockets and c4 and mines and tanks just get destroyed. In BC2 when a tank or a chopper showed up, it was like OH SHIT!!! RUN!!!

Ramming buildings or actual friction of ground so your tanks dont slide from hills...somehow also steering them was better, in BF3 and 4 tanks just drift like NFS -.- when its possible mostly on concrete and not earth. More stational Guns etc. Bf4 fixed that a little but its not even near...but hey, we got AA mines! O.o

+lonewolf972 One single person can easily take down a tank in BF4. Land and air veicles is a joke. They are as lethal and feared as a fart from any grandmother. And I know this for sure. Before the first patch in 2015, the A-10 aka warthog was freakin deadly and lethal. People were actuallt AFRAID of that jet. In one run you could destroy ANY target. Tanks, boats, helis, enemy jets, even the soldiers on ground was not safe. But you needed some skillz to get one run kills. This SHOULD have encouraged enemy team to make a stand, and fight back to gain domination in air. Wich is a great tactical move to make, leading to their forces will be SAFE from the A-10. But NO!!! What DICE DID, was to freakin NERF all jets, and the A-10 aka warthog. They fucked up the damage model completely. From having 2 JDAM bombs to only have 1, with the second on a deelay trigger, and the 30 MM gau machine gune damage, was cut in half. And with that, they ruined the fun and the tactical side about being in a A-10 and having air domination. I spend 1 months, playing BF4 every day ONLY in the A-10 to get good at it. I learned the air veichle inside out, and I got pretty good at it. From being shot down by everything, to ending every round with 50-0 in KD was progress. But the MAIN reason WHY I could manage to kill that many, destroy that many land veichles, was only because my team helped me spot ground movements. And most important, the enemy team DIDTN EVEN BOTHER TO SEND UP JETS TO TAKE ME DOWN..... They used the JETS and HELIS as taxie's, they didnt even care about the threat above them, YET they complained about the OP A-10..... DICE has fucked this game up sooo bad, that it's made for newbie 8-year old kide, who have NO IDEA about the consept about teamwork, teamplay and coms.

Anyone noticed how much better it was to snipe in Bad Company 2 than BF3 and 4? -No scope sway -No Halo sniper trail -Instant death at really close range -SO MUCH BETTER aesthetics, bolt animation, and reloading. It felt REAl. -No stupid ass scope glint. It actually allowed for you to take good cover someplace while spotting and providing suppressive fire for your teammates. -Recon Balls are much more effective than a stupid ground dildo -C4 made recons a deadly threat to tanks -M95 could damage helicopters and light vehicles And I'm sure I'm missing more. Sniping in that game just felt real and cool. I'm afraid we will never get all that back in another battlefield game.

I'm so upset at the reason to why DICE didn't continue this series. There genuinely hasn't been a Battlefield that I can rate above 5 since Bad Company 2. Battlefield's 3 and 4 are so average compared to the Bad Company series. They have made a huge mistake delaying any sort of production to this day and beyond. It's just so fucking stupid that DICE claim that they have no idea as to why people loved the Bad Company series when the normal Battlefield's offer much less than what Bad Company does, whether it be in terms of the campaign or online. DICE are sure to make more money off of a 3rd Bad Company sequel than a Battlefield 5.

TheBazable i wasnt around for those days, i started with bf3. and tbh, i also played a decent amount of bc2, and must say that bf3 in my eyes is a way superior game. better and smoother gunplay, not too fast paced though, conquest is just way more fun on any of those maps, better and more vehicles, and i personally prefer the class balancing over bc2. heck, you cant even strafe while sprinting in bc2, that shit was so annoying. in my eyes, bf3 is my favourite battlefield game, even though if bf4 wasnt so fucked up for the first few years, it would have actually been better.

I'm a Battlefield veteran since the game 1942 and I'm gonna get flak for saying this but this game killed the true spirit of Battlefield. Games before the Bad Company series was just truly all out warfare especially Battlefield 2 which was a masterpiece and best in the series. Then the Bad Company series came and I felt everything ended up being dumbed down. 24 players, no jet combat and everything about the games felt too limited. Yeah, I praise the destruction, Rush mode and the simplicity but it felt like playing a "realistic version of Halo" rather than a true warfare style game of Battlefield. Not to mention that almost all the fans of BC weren't even Battlefield fans before playing these games. But I'm not gonna say these are the worst in the franchise because that belongs to Grand Theft Auto err I mean Battlefield: Hardline. BF 3 and 4 brought back the old school style of Battlefield with the fun of BC combined which restored my faith in the franchises until Hardline.

+Lenin Luna i have played every battlefield with the exception of the futuristic one and hardline which im not even going to touch, and i agree to some point, true, i dont know what was the reason behind leaving jet combat out of it, and i would have liked if it had more players, but it didnt felt dumbed down nor limited, bf3 was a great game much more complete than bfbc2 and it is in many ways superior, but bf4 is soo unbalanced and it feels up to this day unfinished, hit detection in bf4 sucks, vehicle controls are horrible, there is no need for 4 kinds of sights with the same magnification unless they have a tactical purpose which they dont AND that you have to unlock via battlepacks, map desing is awful, is laggy and heavy, destruction is confined to just a few objects and places, explosive spam is out of control and that is one crucial difference between the battlefield series and COD for example what made bfbc2 a great game was that it was easy to play but hard to master, it might have felt simple back then but it had so many little details that made it challeging and fun

BF4 had mostly destructible buildings (Even if they did have a pre-rendered collapse animation), but in the new BF1 beta, you can't actually destroy a staircase. I have not seen a single building get leveled in that beta.

Matt Fletcher Well, speaking from my own experience, I've never seen a staircase be destroyed. I've also never seen the second story of a house around "C" on the beta map get torn down. It always ends up as just a ring of path with a giant hole in the middle on the roof. Can you take a screenshot or video of completely leveling a house? I like BC3 and Bc4 but the problem with the recent Vanilla Battlefield maps is that most of the designs just feel incredibly mundane. Can we have a tiny bit more diversity in Battlefield 5 or BC3? Dense jungles for infantry combat, battles at the top of Himalayas, adding more vertical gameplay. A tropical island (maybe with computer controlled animals, like crocodiles which can kill you) have deserts which have giant sand dunes to climb up and the map size which is long and thin (similar to the one is BC2) and has some sort of giant attraction in the middle (like the grounded ship.) Why not set a whole match on one of those giant destroyer ships, but there's a giant storm brewing and going outside to capture a flag, big waves can knock you off the ship, if you don't time your runs correctly(hows that for levolution ;). ) Don't completely throw urban environments completely out the window. But make them slightly more interesting, considering its the Brazilian world cup why not a Favela on a mountain slope and then a football stadium at the foot of the slope, which is the main attraction and is completely destructible. Finally give snow a bit of love, but put an ice field in the middle of the map, dividing the land and make it only traversable via snow mobiles so tanks have to go around. Just some silly ideas, I know some of them would never work in practice, but I'd love to see something similar. Edit: Oh and for the love of god, stop trying to make a serious war drama and add a fucking dinosaur mode. We've been wanting it for like 3 games now (because i'm almost certain there won't be one in Hardline) come on Dice, its for the betterment of everyone.

Remember first getting BC1 on 360, First read a article in OXM and saw how gorgeous it looked and how 80% of the world was destructible, that spurred me to buy on release and LOVED every minute of it, FANTASTIC multiplayer and a story mode which gripped me throughout! Finding all the gold bars was real fun (still haven't got them all due to a weird glitch :( ) and BC2 just built on that further creating a near perfect FPS which beats it's competitors in every aspect!

One of my favorite things about destruction in BC2 was how for example White Pass in Conquest mode changed completely during the match. At first all the houses were intact and you could hide in them etc., then towards the end everything was competely leveled resulting in total mayhem :D The way the maps changed naturally like that was just awesome and unique.

Battlefield died in Battlefield 2142, what we have today is clearly not battlefield. Bad Company is a different game and i really loved it, still, battlefield 3/4 feeels way more as a Bad Company game than a Battlefield game, but it fails. If DICE wants money, just reskin Battlefield 2, give it proper destruction and graphics and you have the game of the year. Back in the day it was the shit, it was perfect and still is amazing today. There is a good community supported by the best MODS in gaming, you know what i mean... PROJECT REALITY! That mod makes battlefield 2 the best shit in the world.

No. Games have to evolve with the intustry and generation. Amazing games like GoldenEye, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, etc wouldn't survive in the present. BF2 was great for it's time, but it would be one of the worst FPS games to release if it released in this "new" gaming industry. Many people say that Battlefield 2 was the best because, when it came out, it was amazingly innovative and beautiful and there's also the "nostalgia effect", which makes you feel amazing playing that game, eventhough the game might not be so great. (A great example that I have is a game called 'The Getaway: Black Monday', I loved the shit out of that game when I was a kid. Well, last week I decided to download a PS2 emulator and play the same exact game. I saw SOO MANY FLAWS, but I still enjoyed playing it. I had an amazing time playing it, and that's what nostalgia does.)

honestly i feel like lessening the amount of vehicles brings their importance up. in bf3 a great tank driver can carry a team that sucks whereas in bf4 (i admittedly never played anything before bfbc1) you have huge open maps and the tanks and especially air vehicles go down way faster. and i think tactics play a bigger role in smaller maps because larger maps are usually open and theres not really any great way to flank or gain any sort of advantage by using movement to your advantage, also theres typically more class diversity bc on large maps if youre not using engineer youre sniping from a kilo away not doing shit to help anyone. i hate large maps personally because they feel so random, i cant tell you the amount of times i get shot in the back in bf4, whereas in bf3 there was usually a somewhat defined front line with a few flank routes to use that could be deadly if used at the right time. sure, everyone runs medic but they could easily fix that if they would just separate the best guns from the best gadgets in the game. anyway thats my little summary of why i really like smaller maps. and dont get me wrong i like maps around the size of kharg island, more of a middle ground. but then again im a rush guy and bf3's rush maps are perfect (compared to bf4) so that might be why

The maps and flow of battle and the sound is what made this game amazing to me. Not being able to lay down made sniping risky but still powerful and forced ppl to move more. And the actual movement is slower and felt heavy makeing movements around the map more tactical. Not having 3 guys run at you like 3 deer on crack jumping and diving in a blur on my screen from bf3 onword is refreashing. And the sound of the bad company games will never be toped... the most emersive none sim millitary shooter ever. If there is one game i would pay 80 bucks for a "remaster" it would be bc2. The sniping in this game was so perfect, no glitchy hitboxes, no ultra lag from a distance, you could always tell that if you missed, it was because of you. Also all of the sniper rifles were just as good as eachother, no op last one. I still use the beginning scout to this day.

Bringing buildings down with people inside also made my days and then the adrenaline rush when a building was coming down on top of you.

iscrewy That's not the games fault is your teammates. I had fun being able to fight at the players at spawns specially when one team parachuted into the field. And your aren't going to tell me your hated that more than the camp lines that Battlefield 3 had on it's maps. Like every single map had a place to be camped at spawn either by players or vehicles. Bad Company 2 Maps let you had actual cover both from line of sight and fire while getting from base to base. And if there wasn't a way to get out, you made one. New battlefied maps are either kill lines or fields of death you need vehicles or full team to get through. Not to mention I still prefer crouched ghillies camping me, to proned impossible to hit teams, with auto lock on weapons that hit the vehicles right out of spawn anyday.

I played this game a lot in the years before I joined the Army. The single player campaign was just as if not more rewarding than multiplayer, but now that I've been through the service I appreciate the characters even more, because they actually act and talk like we would. It wasn't this super gritty drama we have these days. It felt like my squad dicking around somewhere we weren't supposed to be and I love this game for it. I think that's why it hit so close to home.

Yea that what I loved about BC2 I felt that it really set the great players apart from the rest. I could easily have a 10 KD ratio rushing around dropping everyone in sight with zero camping at all. I know its a small thing, but I really think sound was much much better. When you turn up the volume, it was so immersive like you were there. From the bombs being dropped, guns in the distance, to the vehicles in the area. I loved that you could actually HEAR an enemy nearby by voice, and FOOTSTEPS when they where running.

Their points on the flaws of the game do not make any bit of sense. "The tanks are too overpowered" No they aren't. Tanks are meant to be powerful and ruthless machines. The tank driving in Bad Company 2 is phenomenal, I wouldn't change a thing. "The graphics are outdated" Bad Company 2's graphics were so great for its time, they're even amazing now I don't understand how Gamespot could say that Bad Company 2 is a terrible game. Weapon and map design is what made BC2 for me the best multiplayer shooter I ever played...Every single weapon felt different with different recoil, rate of fire and damage values and they were all fun to use, QBU semi-auto sniper 12x scope countersniping bolt action recons or even better Saiga/Usas with slugs or one of the pump action shotguns with slugs and killing people from ridiculous ranges with shotguns, killing people with the AT4 by direct impact or tracer darting them and kill them from nowhere with a RPG, own people with the smoke grenade launcher or the noobtube....Am I missing something ? Best rush maps by far, and the conquest maps are also very enjoyable...The game was also balanced, the classes were well balanced, the weapons as well (apart from the m60 and an94 at the beginning), only the choppers were probably a nuisance, and there should've been more AA guns per map, also the 40mm shotgun, I forgot, was probably a bit overpowered, I remember getting killed from ridicoulous ranges by it....Btw people still play this game on the PS3 !!

I feel like all the people declaring Battlefield 2 to be the best are choosing not to remember the bad parts of BF2. Mix that in with a little console hatred, and of course you're going to believe that. But it's not true. Battlefield 2 will always hold a special place in everybody's heart, but Bad Company 2 was the ultimate balance between the good aspects of BF2 and the new / progressive aspects of the new generation. I'd probably get in a physical altercation with someone over whether or not Call of Duty 1 was better than Call of Duty 2. But even though I feel so strongly that CoD 1 is the best, I know objectively speaking, CoD 2 is the superior game. Same thing with BF2 and BC2.

Just the right amount of players for the maps left the squad able to make a difference. BF1 was close with the 40 player mode at launch which was supposedly removed - still no BC2 magic with the maps. Don't forget the little hidden easter eggs that can give you an edge over your oponents by figuring them out over time. Eg, Throw c4 further trick, hiding places on top of tall trees, power lines, railway tracks etc. Being able to run outside of the map with a time limit to flank oponents. Placing 1 stick of c4 next to a tank on the floor to destroy in one blast. And the list goes on. Best game of all time by a long shot!

This game is still well and alive on PC. Dozens of full servers. 5 years after it's release. Damn! this pretty much sums up how amazing this game was and still is. And i will add another plus. 11 - amazing sound design. You could actually tell which weapon the enemy was using/ fired across the map! each weapon has it's own and awesome unique gun sound. The enviroment also sounds fantastic. Superior sound overall compared to BF3 and 4.

Totally agree. Especially about the Vietnam DLC. My all time favorite DLC ever. Had 1000+ hours in it. It had the best multiplayer atmosphere ever. The tanks and every vehicle had it's own radio. Driving a tank or a helicopter, while listening to songs like: Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son was priceless. The soldiers during multiplayer shouted everything to each other, like their lives depends on it. It felt so real. I played it on consoles. I miss it so much :(

im a girl btw I could never really tell if that was intentional or not. DICE acted as though it was a hit-detection issue when people complained, but I mostly played sniper, and with the VSS, you HAD to shoot someone twice in the head to kill them. The first would be blocked by the helmet and the second would kill. I don't understand what was going on with other weapons, but for sniper rifles, there was a consistent and definite mechanic at play with helmets, and I can say that with 100% confidence.

Yeah, it feels like they just wanted to make a bunch of weapons that actually weren't too different from other arms. One thing I noticed is, they can have ten thousand different scopes, but we can't fucking have extended mags?

Battlefield 4: Give a game 100+ Weapons, even though people are going to use only 10 of them! "But why?" Just do so! And please make sure that one of them (cough, cough, AEK) rules all of them, so in the end we only see this weapon being used... For serious, I use all weapons in Bad Company 2 and I keep changing my loadouts just for fun, as ALL the weapons are balanced. Now BF4 you either use AEK or you are screwed... (but I use the AK12 just because... Well, I like it LOL).

CardellGaming This is very true. Most, if not all the weapons were viable and you could pick whatever you felt like using that particular day and do well with it.

CardellGaming Yes but some weapons (cough An94 M16A4 and carbines cough cough) were a bit too powerful and please never give ammo to teh granade launcher guy

CardellGaming I platinumed almost every weapon in bfbc2 and every weapon is balanced almost perfectly, whatever weapon people use is just a matter of personal opinion.

I love the AN94 for mid range "sniping" and the F2000 for closer combat, my favorite weapons!

False! I have unlocked all weapons and almost all attachments in bf4 and i use different weapons everytime. If u can only win with the powerful weapons u r bad at the game

Just mind-blowing multiplayer. The greatest presentation to any multiplayer gameplay I've ever seen. Completely immersive environments and an under rated work of art.
