To me he just came across not supportive to Topanga many times when she needed space, the hurt she felt when Cory cheated/ lied to her about Lauren. Mattie from Awkward comes to mind. He got better, but early seasons Mattie was so horrible, I still get heartbroken when I think about how he would screw Jenna in secret, but pretend he didn't know her in public because he was popular and she wasn't. Then she finally gets a chance to be with someone who likes her for her, and he sabotages it. Maybe it's just because it felt so real. It's unfortunately extremely common for a guy to be like "I don't want us to be anything but F-buddies, but I don't want anyone else to have you."

Sheldon is not the worst boyfriend in Big Bang Threoy. Sure, he can be selfish and says the wrong things to Amy sometimes, but he does care and love for Amy. His heart was broken when they broke up. He also flew all the way to New Jereay to propose to (sure, he kissed another woman, but that wasn't his fault either. The other kissed him, not the other way around). Sheldon also made sure that Amy name was on the noble prize or he didn't want it, something he wanted all his life. I don't about you but that good boyfriend/husbamd to me. Barney was still a better boyfriend for Robin than Ted was. Barney and Robin both had commitment issues which made them better for each other so they could work them out together, especially since they were friends for a few years before developing feelings. Ted was just obsessed with Robin, and not the actual Robin, but the Robin he wanted her to be. Ted is anti-gun and Robin is a gun enthusiast. Ted made Robin get rid of her dogs because of his own selfish insecurities. Obviously Ted wanting kids was the big one. But my fave example was in the episode "Baby Talk" when Ted was complaining to Robin that she never "made him feel needed" but Robin asks Barney if she ever made HIM feel needed and he said not but that that was a GOOD thing. He loved her for who she was. Plus, they had more similar interests. Ted and Robin would NEVER work. Forever hate the writers for that terrible ending.
