I completely get what you mean about loving cables for the arms. I have a home gym and use bands, and almost every single bicep and tricep exercise feels better on my joints with the bands than dumbbells and barbells. Like, I hate doing standing dumbbell overhead extensions because it just hurts in my elbow, but with bands? No problem. And you can do mechanical drop sets by getting closer to the point where the bands are attached. Put my EZ-bar through the band and I literally have a cable machine for less than a hundred bucks
