Sometimes all you need is a upgrade to your flux capacitor. It usually increases your 0-88 mph run.

You can achieve both performance and fuel economy too with the ECU remap. I’ve got a 2019 SEAT Ibiza with a 1.6 TDI 80hp and 230Nm (it’s a “downgraded” version of a 115hp identical engine with VGT). Stock it was very sluggish and it won’t perform very well past 3000 rpm, and fuel economy was around 18-19 km/l. The problem is that this engine is filled with filters, like DPF, SCR and so on... My tuner remapped the ECU and he pointed to actually increase torque and fuel efficiency. After that my Ibiza now has around 120hp and 318nm of torque (the hp increase is a consequence of increasing torque). The 1.6 TDI can easily reach 155hp, but my tuner preferred not doing it in order to make the engine last as it’s stock. The engine now is super responsive, it can pull very hard and at 4500rpm the pulling is constant (turbodiesel won’t pull at higher rpm) the fuel economy increased to 23-24km/l. All this without removing any filter!

I upgraded my muffler fluid to a thicker grade. Its tuned to that fluid.

You should also considering upgrading your piston springs for longer ones. It would add more torque to the engine.

Don't forget the winter blend blinker fluid. Oh yeah the ceramic coated titanium muffler bearings are a must for thicker viscosity muffler fluid.

I would recommend reading more info on ECU tuning from nefmoto since it is mostly specialized in ME7.X ECU's. Then you could customize the whole software yourself.

As a fellow 2.7t owner: I would have gone onto eBay and searched username: starkeengineered for an ecu, then popped over to Nefarious Motorsport's website for anything else. et voila. Oh AudiSRS, s4wiki and oemepc are very useful websites too. Great vids, as always. An aftermarket ecu is difficult/expensive in our situation: 2 EGTs + DBW = $$$$$ If you find anything on Tiptronic tuning please make a vid. I'm thinking of switching out the 5HP19FLA , as AJK ecus can interchange transmissions with coding.

That's maintenance to prevent wear and maintain efficiencies. Improving efficiencies or performance beyond what it was designed to have from the manufacturer is tuning.

Just say it's like your phone or computer. You use software to make it do what you want. Go faster usually. Then when the upgrade fails because you have old hardware - won't run as fast, then go back to original software that came with your car, phone, computer. Need more physical ram, need better intakes...
