Garlic, Olive oil, and Onions are the Holy Trinity of cooking. My Grandparents on both sides lived till their late 80s and early 90s and these were in their food most of the time. Joey, What you observed is only a small part of what is going on in their daily life activities since childhood. You KNEW a little of their life. And the spiritual side of their life ? If they are quite religious persons in practical term, their KARMIC forces also play a major role. Eastern belief system teaches that if one helps prolonging other lives... their own life is lengthened. You do not know what your grandparent did in their previous life or many lifetimes ago, good deeds always beget good deeds. Looking at a person's longevity through health point of view is just incomplete. Spirituality, Emotionality, Physicality, Financiality, Paradigm, all blend together will make a person whole. _sorry, creating some new words along the way here_ You inherit good genes from them. If you have a discipline lifestyle plus good vibes for humanity... you will live well n content in many lifetimes including current ones. GBU.

It was my now retired neurologist who recommended I eat garlic and consider nutrition to prevent a second stroke. And my regular doctor said that while he was not sure L-Arginine would help it certainly couldn't do me any harm. I take 3 to 4 500mg L-Arginine each day only because I misread the label on the latest bottles of it I purchased and I have meant to take 1000mg pills instead. So I take them every 3 or 4 hours but never seem to take as much as I had been from the larger bottles. My stroke was not due to arterial sclerosis, but was a side effect of chemotherapy after t-cell Hodgkin's lymphoma when I was in my thirties. Now that I am in my fifties these things certainly will help.

And meanwhile you can continue suffering the consequences of defective physiology. But stick to it ! In the end your immune system will respond to being properly treated, you will develop healthier arteries, and your mind will become clearer and more efficient. Great stuff here. The thing is making it as accessible as possible to your diet & sticking with it. The other simple thing to do really is walking after you eat. It is was every centegenerian has in common. Preferably in the park, creeks or away from the asphalt jungle. You get more oxygen from the tree's, fresher air & generally meet others who cherish it & are in no hurry.

Cholesterol is what your body uses to repair veins and arteries. If your cholesterol is high you should be seeking out the source of harm to your veins and arteries and doing something about that. Otherwise, stop eating animal products.

Besides, unless I suddenly start suffering from Familial Hypercholesterolaemia, I'm happy leaving my cholesterol to its own devices. Check out Dave Feldman and the "cholesterol code". Vast majority of the cholesterol in our bodies is made, internally by our bodies, simply because every cell in our bodies needs cholesterol and you lot are out here trying to be more intelligent than evolution. Don't forget ginger folks! I absolutely love it in my food and make my own tea. Not flavored fake ginger tea bags but easily made tea always fresh. 1. clean 4-5 gingers, slice them & put them in a mixer. 2. mix a couple of minutes until very small pieces. 3. place them on a steel plate (nicely flattened) and put it in the freezer. 4. once frozen it's one solid piece. Loosen it from the plate and loosen it even more by hitting it with hammer or so and store it in a bag in the freezer. 5. for tea you take out 1 tablespoon for 1 cup. Hot water and let it sit for 1-2 hours. I put mines on a candle tea stove. The "ginger pulp" will eventually sink down and drinkable right away. You'll get an amazing taste of fresh ginger tea. Full of nutritions. Try it you'll love it ;)

@leecowell81652 жыл бұрын
yeah that's high but... LDL doesn't matter IF these 2 other guys in the lipid panel are in line. total and CHOL/HDLC ratio. you really want total < 200 mg/dl (< 180 is better but if its < 150 nothing else much matters) & CHOL/HDLC < 5.0. I have absolutely NO atherosclerosis anywhere. I'm 79yo. btw stay away from carbs. keep them under 50/day. I'm fortunate my cholesterol has always been in the toilet... sometimes its actually been too low.

Note: kimchi, just like sauerkraut, only provides the probiotic effect if it's NOT pasteurized, which it almost always is. You must buy "raw" or "unpasteurized". Or make sure it actually says "probiotic" on the label. Hard to find this in stores.

Americans have the highest level of heart disease in the world. We eat fast foods, live a stressful life (worse as the days go by) and take poly-pharmaceuticals the doctor hands out. As a nurse in the cath lab for 15 years, everyone of us has some level of coronary blockage by the age of 20 something. Heart disease is also genetically acquired and you have no control over that but should at least try. One cardiologist I worked with would say "flip a coin" guessing who would have bad disease and who wouldn't prior to going in the lab. My advice is to skirt the outside of the grocery store and eat fresh organic vegetables and lean protein as much as possible. Exercise and get fresh air and try something to lower your stress level. The cath lab will become a "hamster wheel" you don't want to get on. Our grandparents did not take all these suggested foods and although they are most likely very good for you, many of them lived up into their 80's & 90's. They worked hard dawn to dusk and lived the simple life.
