In 1948, the government renamed the Tango no Sekku (端午の節句) to Kodomo no Hi (こどもの日), children's day, to respect children's personalities and to celebrate their happiness. But Tango no Sekku event is held on the same day because it is a traditional festival to pray for the health and courage of boys.

I'm in the States, but being Hispanic, my family celebrates the Battle of Puebla on May 5th.

On May 5th nothing in Italy.. but on May 1st we are the "Labour Day". This day remember the workers' battles, in particular for conquering a specific right: only eight hours for working. It's a very important day here in Italy. But i love your children's day ❤️

aww good question. it was more for boys than girls back then than now, so my parents didn't do anything special. maybe we ate Kashiwamochi since my dad has a sweet tooth 😂
