I had a therapist that I was seeing a long time ago and after the therapy session, he wanted a hug and even asked if I wanted to come and watch a movie with him. That was 25 years ago. Which I thought was very odd and not normal. I also felt violated because he took advantage of my vulnerability. Ever since then, I only see female therapists. So far so good and have not been hit on. I too went to Northcentral University. But it is now National University. I am having problems finding a practicum/internship placement site. So, I have not completed my Postgraduate MFT certification because of this. I am sure you probably know that NCU has been changed to NU. Thank you for your informational videos. It is greatly appreciated :)

I just did a discussion post last week about ethical boundaries. I am wrapping up my first quarter of internship. I also got my eval back from my site supervisor and it went well!

I thought if a MFT is having feelings for a client, we are to seek supervision first. As we don’t abandon our clients. A process of them potentiality referring them.

Hello, I love your KZbin page! I have been using it to study for the MFT exam. I was wondering if you could do a video on feminist theory or object relation theory? Thank you. I really appreciate your videos!

If your husband simply wanted you to write them a "Nexus" letter to connect anxiety that they have suffered from since you were married...to the medical evidence in their military medical records, would you think that this is an ethics violation? My VA advocate advised me that my wife, who is a licensed therapist in TX, could write my nexus letter so that I can seek treatement from the VA. The type of letter I am talking about simply states something to the effect of, "after reviewing my husbands military service records, and after being in an intimate relationship with my husband for 23 years, it is in my professional opionion that "It is as likely as not" that the anxiety that he suffers from on a daily basis is connected to his medical conditions and exposures that occured during his military service.

How do you handle confidentiality of clients with your own spouse/partner. My wife and I always spend some time talking about work when we get home.

Hello Steph!!! I just began my ethics class and your video was very informative. How do you deal with confidentiality involving minors. Are you required to share the information with the parents? And just so that I am clear on the code of ethics, I printed them out, but I want to make sure that they begin starting with 1.1 Non Discrimination. I found it a little amusing that you did this video around the holidays and here I am watching it now as we approach Christmas 🙂

Hello my mame is Sunny. I have a very serious question that I really need answered. I came across your channel 2 days ago and I really do love it I did subscribe. I'm hoping you see this message and answer me if not can someone please answer this question. Okay so I am 34 years old my father raised me very strict he never sent me to school long story short I would like to become a therapist but I don't have a high school diploma or a GED what positive suggestions can someone give me? I am terrified because I know that I've never been to school and I'm thinking to myself would it take forever to try and get my diploma I did some research it said that I can become a therapist with the minimum of a high school diploma if that is true I'm wondering to myself could I even do it because I know there is a lot that I probably don't know so that means I would have to start from scratch I could really use some recommendations and some positive feedback

Sunny get your GED at a community college then get your general education or AA after that, a AA can take 2 years, then transfer to a 4 year university take course work in psychology after you get done then you will have a bachelors. Now you can look at a master program. Weather a social worker, clinical mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapy as you grow, learn and set down the foundations in the mental heath field you will discover what path is right for you. The process is a long one, so please understand it may take 8-10 years to get you to the point of becoming a licensed therapist. I started in 2014 and am in the last 9 credit in my masters the internship and practicing is 600 to 700 hours which will be 40 hours full time clinical work and most of us do these 600 hours with out being paid it’s the largest part that is a unavoidable cost to your self and family, but required to graduate. Then you will need to take a few exams a counseling exam then a national exam, which is required by the state. Read up on your sates licensing requirements before you pick a Master program as the university will need the correct accreditation. Good luck and please get your GED. I did and college and university was the best thing to ever happen to me.
