His composure is mind-boggling. Nothing makes him veer off of his game plan and goals. His mental capacity is only matched by those of Nadal and Djokovic. Not mention in this video (good points though) is the mental part of SInner. He is ICE COLD during pressure points. Cool as cucumber always.

I believe Jannik also has the best eye-hand coordination on the tour right now. His body is not muscular, but his shots are incredibly huge and averagely faster than Carlos Alcaraz. This can only be achieved by optimizing the contact point of his swings and he does that with such consistency that is far above the remaining ATP players.

Good breakdown. I would almost put point 3 as perhaps the main reason. If you look at the ATP stats on serve and return of serve there are only a point or 2 separating the top. If you look at the “under pressure rating” Sinner has big lead. On hardcourt Sinner is 273.3 and the next player Dimitrov is 245 or something. Huge gap. I followed Sinners whole year and I would get nervous when he was break points down - the more I watched as the year progressed the more I saw he just kept cool and didnt loose those games where now (with his serve) if he is 0-40 or 15-40 down I rarely stress. He himself said he love those moments. So I am wondering if that is perhaps where he won so many matches. In those moments. Last thing I will say - I watched last years ATP finals again and I noticed how much more emotion he showed on courts - especially negative or disappointment. He somehow managed this year to change that and become the most stable thinker on court. Pretty amazing. I became a huge fan seeing how much effort he put into his game and technique over the last 18 months. He improved a lot since Oct/Nov last year and that is almost unheard of at that level.
@SC_Jolly3 күн бұрын
Jannik's focus and lack of emotion when he loses a point is the main reason he's #1. ALL the other players wear their emotions on the court. Plus, Jannik is one of the very few players who conserve their oxygen by NOT groaning after every shot.

100% at the moment. The two big questions for 2025: 1. Can Carlos improve his serve enough to give himself the edge again? 2. Will Novak find a way to hurt Sinner, as right now Sinner serves better, moves slightly quicker and has more reach. Not to mention he’s young, and Nole is getting on now

Until early 2022 Sinner was coached by Riccardo Piatti, who raised him from age 14 to 20. Then from February 2022, Vagnozzi and Cahill came in and they saw right away that you could not distort Sinner's type of game, which is built on a backcourt game, and you could NOT then force Sinner to go more to the net or do serve and volley or dropshots for which he did not yet have the sufficient feel for. Sinner is not like Edberg. The coaches told him that net play and volleys would be introduced slowly only after Sinner's main game was consolidated, because they did not want to depower him by making him play like an ugly Edberg. But in the last few months the time has come, now Sinner is starting to make descents at net with more confidence and control than 2 years ago, and they will try more and more to introduce new elements of the game but without distorting Sinner's technical essence, which is a 'Djokovic-like' game with some Edberg/Federer elements. Sinner has a HUGE hunger to improve and will be at his peak in 2 years. And he will be even scarier for opponents.

He's become great at handling pressure, he's said in a recent interview with italian famous sports journalist Federico Buffa: "pressure is a nice thing, for everybody it's different, in family or at work. My pressure is a privilege: to play in front of a huge crowd, to be able to prove new emotions in important moments. I live it with calm, when I enter the court I always feel it like a big opportunity, the worst that can happen is that you loose. If you're a doctor, then maybe better that you don't do mistakes, tennis is much easier".

I was following the Davis Cup on X today and they posted zero moments of videos about Griekspoor where he won a point. Every post was just about Alcaraz - even when the doubles started. I thought thats rather bias coming from the official Davis Cup feed who should show respect to the Netherlands. Out of the 30 posts today only 1 was in favor of the Netherlands. You do a Alc vs Sinner match and the majority of the crowd is for Alcaraz. So my point is - Sinner deserves the attention at this point.
