I like Tori ! Was listening to her in the 90's, really liked songs like "Crucify" and "Corn flake girl" for example, and I think this song is quite touching ! It's simple and plain, but that's what makes it so emotional ! Her presence and the intimacy of this performance grabs me ! Tori has that carisma I think, that to me is very sexy ! A very gifted musician indeed, but what makes her special is her carisma ! Great reaction, great recommendation, thanx !

She's got a fairy tale vibe, and she's from the DC metro area I think.. Rockville, MD? Arlington, VA? Not European. Try the song Northern Lad. Word is the Northern Lad was Trent Reznor? Or was that the song Hey Jupiter? She also remade Smells Like Teen Spirit and had a song in the movie Toys, which Robin Williams starred in.. Ok, TMI time over. Oh, my favorite is "Putting the Damage On". Do that? :)

I think it would have been more precise from me to say people who like European metal often also like Tori Amos. I also thought about why it's bulletproof kind of timeless, it's simple, it's tonal piano music and a woman at the very least competently singing, doesn't get much more timeless.

You might want to check out Kate Bush. They aren't really similar song styles, Kate Bush is more...produced? Not just piano accompaniment, but similar vocal qualities and use of poetics in lyric content, although not quite as emotionally vulnerable. Wuthering Heights or Cloudbusting, perhaps. I'm very fond of "The Big Sky", but that's a poppier song, for sure.

Kate Bush is a good choice, I really like "Wuthering Heights" and "Running up that hill". For some reasons i tend to mix in early songs of Björk in my playlists at home when listening to Tori. Or Portishead when I'm going for full emotional breakdown, that Roseland live session kills me everytime...

Much like Tori Amos she often makes moving ballads accompanied with the piano. Too bad that your Arch Enemy reaction got blocked, or at least I cannot watch it here in Finland. However, I guess you didn't like it with Angela's harsh/growling vocals. Here's one of the greatest American singer-songwriters of all time performing one of his most famous songs.
