Hi Luke, I just bought the RC14 model, but the screen is not as bright when using the front and back cameras. I have set the brightness to maximum and turn off auto dim. I have other older CarPlay unit with much brighter screen, Which of brand in this video has a brighter screen than RC14 model? Perhaps you can do an update video on screen brightness while using in a sunny condition (using light meter). I can barely see anything on the RC14 screen during sunny daytime. Thanks

Great video, but IMHO is missing one critical thing - most of cheap Carplay devices have junky screens with low nit brightness. Wish screens were tested against glare in s sunny day. I've got $40 Carplay that is great connecting to the car and iPhone, but screen is total crap during summer, can barely see anything at noon

that's absolutly important.

Do any of these screen support being installed upside down and having the screen rotate 180 degrees? (I want to mount one of these in my 1970s classic car and the best place would actually be UNDER the top edge of the dash).

Nice video Luke - detailed and very thorough test - I was considering a Podofo unit, but not now. One comment I have regarding the FM range. I had a Bluetooth / FM transmitter to connect my iphone. What I noticed when in busy towns is radio interference. This may have been that the channel 87.5Mhz was being used by a local radio station but I also cnsidered that if other people have these units in close proximity then it is possible their FM transmitters are causing the interference I experienced. This is was not a one off as it frequently occured when travelling through busy traffic areas. I actually removed the external aerial to help reduce the interference.

The Carpuride didn't have to load up software for a front camera, so it makes sense that it would be faster, but no camera could be a deal breaker.

Also, a big deciding factor for me was whether the units had 'dual bluetooth' so that my phone's audio can still be linked to the vehicle for calls and music, so the unit is effectively a screen only. Looking forward to further updates 😊
@Too-Odd7 ай бұрын
It looks to me like you have the wrong settings on the Podofo. BT projection just uses the head as a display for the phone. The sound goes through the vehicle's BT audio.
@jollino4 ай бұрын
Love this video, however I have a very specific question that nobody seems to answer: do ANY of these handle iOS's audio streams properly? Let me explain: on the iPhone, if you change the volume while in a call, you change the volume only for calls; if you change it while Siri speaks, you change Siri's volume; the same goes for navigation prompts and music, all separately. With a "dumb" BT car stereo, you can still change those settings separately on the phone, and then you generally have a "main volume" knob. I am asking this because I have bought a Carpuride YT09 which isn't an add-on device like these, rather it goes into the DIN slot and replaces whatever car stereo you had before. The problem is that once CarPlay is engaged, the volume settings are locked on the iPhone because it expects that the CarPlay receiver handles those volume levels... and the Carpuride, or at least that model, does not handle them. It does have a slider for the general volume (and, after an update, one for the navigation prompts), but Siri and calls remain very soft because I simply have no way of changing those volumes and bringing them to the same level as the music. It's like watching a show and the commercial breaks is very loud, only in reverse. Do any of these other models address this properly, i.e. are of any of them "aware" of what (e.g. calls, or music) you're changing the volume of?

How do you connect to the speakers in the car.
@artramirez3506Ай бұрын
These units usually have several ways of sending their audio to your car speakers. You can use the aux output to an aux input in your car stereo, you can use Bluetooth from the unit to the cars radio, you can use an FM modulator to get the audio from the screens to the car radio. Just depends on what inputs your car stereo accepts and offers.

Actually, they all came from a Chinese manufacturer, so we only need to focus on the product code, not the brand. I bought a K720; the stand is very low, so I cannot set the camera high enough to watch the lane. One very important function is split screen between the cam recorder and map guidance, but it's funny that the expensive machine doesn't have this feature, while the cheap one does.
