Crucifixion was also done very commonly on X's as well. People kinda over look that one

Couple things, people were regularly crucified head down. It was a quicker death, they flipped jesus so it would take longer. Second the upside down cross being recognized as satanic comes from the norse wearing hammers around their necks. Eventually persecution led to the hammers being made more cross like, so they could flip them in Christian territories to blend in. Thus the upside down cross becoming demonized. It was more political than anything else.
