Hi guys I'm 60 and broke my hip on March 16th 2023. Surgery on the 17th. I am without medical insurance and had to forego the PT. Sent home on the 20th sound enough, that through the PT in the hospital, she taught me how to climb the stairs, good foot up, bad foot down. I was able to do so first night home. Sent home with exercises to do. I was always searching for more exercises. I came across Your KZbin yesterday, May 2nd! I'm so happy to have found you! The routines are wonderful but I'm still not walking without the walker or cane. I felt more positive yesterday after the exercises that I was able to walk through my apartment. I still have a way to go. I just wanted to say thank you!😊

I went back to work at 6 weeks to a physical job of 10+ hours a day on my feet. Daily swelling as expected. Not so wise in hindsight. Developed a DVT....so now I'm being told to be quiet for a week while the bloodthinners do their job. I was back in the gym...really feeling great. This setback has really done me in.

Thanks guys. I am into week 10 this week. I have been walking with a cane since week 2 of my hip replacement(my surgery was same day discharge and I walked out of the hospital) and was walking about 4 kilometres a day broken up into two session up until about week 7. Gave up cane at week 6. I have been doing almost all of these exercises since week 4-5. Then at week 9 I started to experience knee pain (my knee is also in need of replacement with little to not acl, mcl, miniscus and cartilage). This pain started as I was doing the stretching my quad exercise (laying on stomach with band tied to my ankle, pulling ankle forward) and the balancing on my surgery leg on a piece of foam. I stopped those two exercises but my knee is still hurting quite a bit. So I am back walking with a cane. Not happy. My surgeon suggests 12 weeks on hip precautions but honestly, if it wasn't for the knee pain, I would be back to full on walking with no cane. I don't know if this knee pain will ever subside. :(

I still have severe arthritis on my left side but am pleased with the new hip. Arthritis pain gone but still have muscle pain despite doing exercises given for the first 6 weeks and walking daily but will have to use a walking aid due to y left hip. I'm on a list for my second op but it could be months away. Makes mecfeel really low

@@heathermbambeni529 I was pretty fit except for my hip when I had my hip replaced by the Anterior method. And I had zero rehab and zero physical therapy. So I am a PT however very new. One question I have is if the orders dont have any precautions for anterior approach, should you still follow restrictions for anterior approach. This really isnt something from a textbook but all DOs have their own precautions and some different from what we learn in school.

Every video I have watched about hip replacement assumes that patients have a "good leg". I am 12 weeks into hip replacement and am waiting for my right hip to be replaced as both hips were as bad, should of been replaced June and December 2020. [covid stopped operations] I am walking 4 to 5 miles daily [over 3 walks] but still need crutches/walking sticks as my "good leg" does not work very well and is very painful [exercises make it worse]both hips had collapsed and the criteria for collapsed hips I don't have

@@guitarzan2626 As you say the first 4 to 5 weeks are not good, my first week [April 7th 2021] was in hospital, wasn't allowed out of the house for the 2nd week, so had to walk around the house, my 3rd week I was walking about 200yds along the road, then walked an extra lamp post every day sometimes over did and had to go back a lamp post for a few days[I did this 3 times daily], by week 5 I was walking about 1 mile 3 times a day, tried driving up the lane at 6 weeks, felt a bit stiff, by week 8 I was walking about 1.1/4 miles 3 times a day, once I was allowed to drive at week 8 I was walking my dog on the shore, by 12 weeks I was walking 2 miles twice a day on the shore plus 1 mile at tea time, which I still do, but as my right hip doesn't really work I still have to use 2 crutches. and now it's got worse over the past week , I may have to cut the tea time walk out I do know of someone local who had his hip replaced a few months before me, say the start of 2021, I think it was around August he went on a bike ride to another part of the country and in December he went skiing in Austria . Now you are at 5 weeks every thing should start to fall into place very soon, just go at your own pace and keep doing the exercises, I have to admit I am not so good at that at the moment

These two young dudes are a piece of work, they say whatever it comes to their minds and immediately look at each other thinking, “what d’you think of that, pretty cool right, you agree?” You know they just made that s***up😂🤣 Like the taller one when he said, “this is the glut-mid muscle that stabilizes your hip so you don’t waddle”??? I’ve never seen anyone one walk like that😂, like he demonstrated, maybe only models on the runway

These are the exercises my Physio gave me, but helpful to see them performed. I've had two done in past ten months, the last one four months ago and I do have that waddle, so know what they are talking about. It's awkward, but not everyone is the same. My second one has proven to be much trickier in terms of recovery, but these guys make it feel like more fun doing the essential exercises
