How about that team having multiple riders miss their slot and multiple crashes on the first turn? Fellas party too much on the rest day?

Bad course layout that was then corrected by the ASO and perhaps some tires that were on the slick side.

Our danish commentators also mentioned that that team was testing new crafted carbon wheels, which supposedly is more stiff, which combined with the tire being slick and the route literally being over the line, cause the crashes.

Vingegaard spent his rest day (re-)learning the corners on the TT. See him descend again and note how perfect it was. And he rode it in April already. Even out of the the first corner Vingegaard had already gained more than a second.

@@jaybobd I agree that's a potential downside, but some of that could be minimized by making it a little longer than a Prologue, or possibly incorporating some climbing. Do we really think big budget, super-athletic teams are NOT gaining an advantage having 7 strong horses out in front over _the other 20 days?_ The teams that go Top 5, even Top 10 in the TdF are almost always "Big Budget," and you'd be surprised how the top team in the TTT changes amongst them.

Well not really. Team time trials are a simple fix dump the tt bike out of it. Hell dumping the tt bike all together would be a good move. That would even things up. If you dump the the tt bike and not design the tt for climbers like this years crap it would do wonders keeping the standings close. The real problem is it is bad TV. It is great for the fans on the ground but boring at home

I just watched the Southwick Pro motocross. 93° on a sand track. The best part, guys pulling their helmets off with drool pouring out of their mouths, as they desperately reach for water. The best part of the TT today? Dudes rolling in, maximum effort, drool pouring out of their mouths, reaching for water, stat. It's the ALL OUT effort that's so great to watch.

Now we all know why Vingo did not bother to attack Pogy 2 days ago. Also, Pogy made a mistake changing bikes, that cost him some time,.. Pogy was saying it was not over yet, and that tomorrow, he expects some spectacle, especially when it rains. I hope he does a backflip on his bike, that would be fun. Anyway, spoiler... IT IS OVER.

The commentators also said that Pogacar suffers a good bit more in hot and humid weather than Vingegaard, which also played a fairly big part. I was dumbfounded by Jonas' performance. Made me think of the days of doping, with that kind of performance, but on the other hand, even though Pogacar and Vingegaard were extremely fast over all, they weren't the fastest on the last climb, which shows some "humanity".

I really think that equipment can account for a lot of the margin today. It would be another thing if he was dominating Pogi on the climbs as well. In general I need a little more than a good win to be suspicious. If he wins the sprint on the Champs Elysees for example...then I call bullshit
@onhi1

Equipment yes, but in terms of aerodynamics Jonas just seemed to maintain a far better body position including staying seated the entire race, while Pogi after swapping bikes was facing much more air. I think JV with Jonas invested more effort optimising the position and having Jonas train in it.

They should all do it, but they should declare whether they’re going for it or not, group them that way and only broadcast the fast guys and the GC (in those case one and the same).
