This motor comes ALIVE with E85, it's depressing when I have to run pump gas. I've been running E85 in my other track car for years and you absolutely need to change the oil more frequently. @TheDriversPerspective6 жыл бұрын
Tires depend on intended use, I actually think the factory Michelin tires are a blast. When those wear out on my TRD wheels I'll probably replace them with the Continental Extreme Contract Sport tire in the same. My track wheels use 245/40/17 Bridgestone RE-71r tires, they are horrible on the road - lots of noise. As far as the header, it'll need to get removed at a certain time of year but I keep the exhaust quiet and retain the factory front pipe. :-)

wait.... why in the world would you dyno the car with both the stock header and aftermarket catless header on the same tune? The tunes for stock and catless headers are totally different.
@Andy.Jensen3 жыл бұрын
OFT comes with a few tunes, but only 1 is E85 (the one he used). So stock header, running E85 with OFT, you use Stage 2+. Then this vid is on the header, not the tune. By changing header and tune, we wouldn't know what just the header is worth. Keeping tune the same both times shows us what one change is worth.

I'm looking for the best header under a grand, strictly to remove that dip, possibly without adding a new exhaust, still an option or will it be pointless without the cat-back? When a preformance shop does a stage 1 tune on the car what is a reasonable price for the tune?
@TheDriversPerspective6 жыл бұрын
Stage tunes are just a naming scheme aftermarket companies came up with. For a BRZ or 86 a Stage 1 from OpenFlash is just a slight retune on the stock map with a factory header. If you are in the market for that, spend $499 on an OpenFlash tablet and you can install that map in about 5 minutes yourself in your driveway.
@krismckinney74256 жыл бұрын
The Driver's Perspective so most people just purchase the tablet and do it on their own? I'm looking at 725 for a stage 1 tune and a cold air intake installed. I'm assuming if a shop does the tune, that will not include the open flash tablet? What if I wanted it back to stock? Thanks for the info👍
@TheDriversPerspective6 жыл бұрын
Skip the cold air intake, it is worthless on this car. Factory air box design is so complicated that the aftermarket is really going to struggle to make it better. I went back to a stock air box after having issues with Perrin intake. Just buy an OpenFlash tablet and do it yourself, you can reflash to stock at any time with the tablet as it holds your stock tuning file. I have a few videos on how to flash the car, it is super easy to do!
@krismckinney74256 жыл бұрын
The Driver's Perspective already bought the intake so I guess it's going on. What kinds of problems did you have with yours and is it wise to buy a used tablet, unmarried v1? It is through PayPal? Just paranoid about doing things on my own. Don't want to screw it up.
@TheDriversPerspective6 жыл бұрын
Kris McKinney sell the intake or return it. The fuel trims will be out of spec with off the shelf tunes, may cause knock and poor throttle response. Used tablet is a good value if you know it’s legit. My car knocked and had funky fuel trims. Not worth it.
