Guys thanks for this excellent review! You answered exactly what I wanted to know about this vehicle. I currently own a 2017 RAV4 hybrid. I’m 6’5”. When I first bought that car getting into and out of it wasn’t a problem. My joints have stiffened as I am turning 65. I wanted to trade in for something easier to get in and out of. You perfectly addressed that, and the ride height! I was thinking about going with a Camry XLE, but I think that Crown Signia will be a better fit. I truly appreciate you both. I’m glad I subscribed! 🫡

As a RAV4 Prime owner, hoping this comes with Toyota's PHEV drivetrain at some point in the future, 300+ HP and plug ability would be a great option for this vehicle.

Thank you for calling it a wagon! As a big fan of wagons and hatchbacks, I will never understand the aversion to the term since they are so practical and way more fun to drive than SUVs. I would seriously consider it if it weren't a CVT . Reliability concerns aside, I just don't like the way they feel/drive.
@StopWhatYerDoing5 ай бұрын
This has an eCVT, not a regular CVT. They're completely different, and eCVTs are actually one of the most robust and reliable transmissions you can get today. I've not driven one, but I have heard that they feel smoother and less rubber-bandy than CVTs.

Our family had a 1995 Toyota Camry Wagon V6 LE. The Camry Wagon had a rear facing 3rd row which as a kid growing up in one was like luxury. Always a wagon fan ever since (currently driving a 2002 IS300 SportCross).

My first 4 vehicles were a Volvo wagon, a 300zx, a VW Golf, and a 1985 RX7. all were hatchbacks. Now I have an RX8, an is300, an E28 533i, and I'm shopping for a z3. So I went from all hatchbacks to all trunks. One thing I've noticed, I used to be MUCH better about not leaving things in my trunk indefinitely. Out of sight, out of earshot when I take the corner, out of mind.

Hi, from Japan!! I’m glad that it seems you two were not involved in other dangerous drivers again in San Diego. The name of the car is Crown Estate here in Japan. It’s funny it happens often car names are different in each countries. Well, 4 types of Crown exist here in Japan. One of these named Crown Sports is like more sports styled SUV so there is possibility that the car would be adopted in U.S. instead of GR Crown Signia.

well “Estate” here in the States would sound like real estate to some people so thats why they didnt use it
@harrygatto5 ай бұрын
@@tinhinnh A "Wagon" in the UK is an "Estate car". Also in the UK, a large area of enclosed private land with a large house in the middle of it is also called an "estate". A deceased person's assets and belongings are called their "estate". These terms are rarely confused or misused. Here in Japan I have a Toyota Crown Athlete Estate, all these English words are written on the tailgate and to the best of my knowledge have not confused anyone despite not being written in the local native language.

Had 7 Subarus including 4 Outbacks, one Crosstrek(least favorite), one Forester, and my original one the 1993 Impreza front wheel drive which I used studded snow tires on and it was great. I am considering this Crown Signia due to size, wagonlike bearing, awd, hybrid, and the fact that the closest Subaru dealer is 2 plus hours in every direction, but there is a Toyota dealer within 50 miles. I am like the grandparents from Calgary... but it is a little too rich for my blood and not sure about tires. I run all terrrain tires on my 2020 Outback with 75,000 miles. Bring on the Outback hybrid soon Subaru or I will have to seek alternatives as we are a one vehicle family living in the middle of nowhere and do not want to break down. Original cars in the 80's were Hondas but their CRV did not have a good enough AWD system and slipped in snow and got stuck in mud that the Subaru would have had no trouble with. Also had Civics and a Honda Wagon using studded snow tires in Vermont but now in altitude of New Mexico. A little concerned about ground clearance as well. We do not always plow or shovel our road in every snowstorm and it can have quite a bit of snow that we plow our Outback through just barely...

I also like the newest CR-V Hybrid for them, but knowing my parents, they'll probably end up in their third consecutive Forester without so much as a test drive.

Audi, Mercedes, and Volvo are the only brands I know that still sell true wagons… not jacked up in ride height ones, but just normal everyday wagons. The Outback has turned into an SUV, they even market it as one on their website. This is probably the closest thing to a wagon from a mainstream brand.

I know people want to hate on EV’s particularly Tesla but 45-50k for a Toyota wagon that is slow as well? People seem like they’re willing to pay anything just to not have an EV. You can get Model Y, Ioniq 5, EV6 for cheaper, maybe Mach E as well (at least lease). The pricing of daily driving ICE/hybrid/PHEV cars are largely not justifiable anymore over comparable EV’s especially with tax credits or offers simulating tax credit. Unless you really love a vehicle. It’s the market taking advantage of charging fears and build quality in some cases. How many more thousand $$ does that justify? The car companies are laughing their way to the bank.
@ViciousFirearms2 ай бұрын
This has double the range of every EV in existence with the added advantage of being able to fill up the tank in 2 minutes max. Not to mention much better build quality and materials than any of the EVs you just mentioned.

Paul, I’m surprised at you. Why would a Lexus buyer choose a Lexus version of this car? Because the Lexus buyer has never set foot in a Toyota dealership once in their life. Or if they have, they never intend to again. Toyota could take that car exactly as it is, change the badge, and sell it for $3000 more at the Lexus dealership. People will pay that much just for the badge. Lexus buyers are not typically as vain as Audi or Mercedes or BMW buyers but they often care about escaping the utilitarian image of Toyota. They want to show off that they are not only pragmatic but also will pay more money for finer things.
