I absolutely love my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, all-wheel-drive SEL hybrid! It was the best choice especially for the price! I couldn’t touch even a two year old Highlander hybrid for the price I paid for my brand new Santa Fe hybrid. I have had many Toyotas and they are just so boring. When I test drove this Hyundai it was like wow Hyundai has hit a home run out of the park. Yes I understand that the 2.5 L turbo for the 2024 Santa Fe has had a plague of problems with the automatic transmission. I have not even had one problem not a squeak, not a rattle nothing In over 4000 miles. My lifelong average so far is 37.4 miles per gallon. Highly recommend this vehicle to anyone!

Honestly speaking, japanesse vehicles have been going down in reliability aswell. My aunt has a 2019 or 2020 highlander limited V6. And its has been dumb ngl. Let me clarify that its not necessarily bad in terms of mechanical components. The overall Body build quality is bad. Roof started leaking like a year later, and the dealer just can't fix it. Also the tire wear is absolutely trash. The inner edges are wearing out WAY more. Oh and for some reason, the V6 is is slooooow. Like, abnormally slow. I still think toyota is king of reliability compared to others, but nowadays, you buy a car cuz it looks better, has better techs/features at the price point. And hyundai tech is leagues better than toyota tech. My mom has a 2023 Hyundai N-Line she got for around 37k. Compare this to my cousin fully loaded, limited 2024 Rav4 for around 40k. And they don't even come close in the tech department. Also, with how toyota is going with their engines now, you might aswell start exploring other brands. Now that doesn't mean go and buy a Mitsubishi cuz they still shit 😂

Hyundai offers the best warranty in the industry, 5 years, 60,000 miles basic, 10 years, 100,000 miles powertrain. This should alleviate any quality concerns. Indeed, in the 2024 JD Powers initial quality study Hyundai and Kia ranked right at the top, #3 and #4.

I wouldn’t buy the Santa Fe even it were dramatically cheaper than the Highlander. I know two Hyundai owners whose vehicles have been at the dealer for weeks waiting on parts. Then we have the proven resale issue. Toyota’s aren’t in decline check out Consumer Reports preferred used vehicle evaluations as well as owner satisfaction ratings. I would rather buy a Japanese made Highlander but that isn’t possible in a new model. And there may not be a significant difference, I simply think the Japanese auto worker takes more pride in his work than the American worker. You can’t overlook Mazda anymore, now that they are using Toyota hybrid engines. They are making great cars adding sales incentives and it’s easier to buy a car without being on a wait list. Their interiors are a step above all other comers in the class.

Japan’s largest carmaker Toyota has been in the spotlight recently, but for all the wrong reasons. Goods and services from the land of the rising sun are known for their high standards and quality, as well as reliability. However, Japanese automakers have recently been under fire for falsifying test certification applications. In 2023, two of the top three largest global auto brands were from Japan, according to Statista. Toyota took the crown with 10.7% market share, while Germany’s Volkswagen came in second with a 6% market share. Japan’s Honda Motor was the third largest brand, commanding 4.6%. But for Toyota, the top automaker by market share in the world, the latest safety scandal is not the first time it’s being investigated for false test data. What happened? “Kaizen” is a Japanese philosophy - broadly translated as “continuous improvement”- that’s been adopted by Toyota and touted as one of the company’s core values. However, its reputation has taken a hit, after a wide ranging investigation into Japanese auto firms by the country’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism revealed that five major Japanese carmakers - including Toyota - had used false data to apply for certification for their cars. Irregularities in certification applications were discovered from Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Suzuki Motor and Yamaha Motor , the transport ministry said on June 3. All five companies had submitted false test data, or in the case of Toyota and Mazda, falsified the vehicles used in crash tests. Stocks of all five Japanese automakers plunged in the week following the revelations, with Toyota most notably losing 2.45 trillion yen ($15.62 billion) in market value last week alone. How did Toyota respond? In response to the scandals, Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda apologized to stakeholders and customers, and the company halted shipments and sales of three models currently manufactured in Japan, namely the Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio and Yaris Cross. Toyoda said that seven of the company’s models were “tested using methods that differ from the standards defined by the national authorities.” Other scandals While the latest revelations were only made public two weeks ago, the transport ministry’s investigation were initially triggered by another safety scandal at a Toyota subsidiary, Daihatsu. In December, Daihatsu halted shipments of all its vehicles after an investigation found safety issues with its cars, including cases where airbag control units used in tests for some models were different from the ones sold to the public. In April last year, Daihatsu said it had rigged side-collision safety tests carried out for 88,000 small cars, most of those sold as Toyotas. The investigation by an independent third party panel also revealed that the certification irregularities extended all the way back to 1989. Daihatsu apologized for “betraying the trust of our customers and other stakeholders and for causing great inconvenience and concern.” Some of Daihatsu’s cars have resumed shipment in April this year after revised testing. In 2022, Hino - Toyota’s truck-making subsidiary - falsified emissions data on some engines as far back as 2003, which affected over 640,000 vehicles. What next? Given the recent scandals, will investors flee the stock, preferring to sink money in other scandal-free Japanese automakers instead? As of June 13, shares of Toyota were at their lowest level since Feb. 6. Since the scandal broke on June 3, Toyota’s shares have plunged 8%. However, a note by Citi on June 3 said the impact on share prices on the sector will be “minimal.” They add that “there are no issues anywhere on the performance front and the improprieties do not look as if they will lead to recalls.”

In 2024, Toyota Motor Corp. was involved in a number of scandals related to vehicle testing and safety: Testing fraud In June 2024, Toyota admitted to a range of testing fraud, including using outdated data in crash tests, incorrect airbag inflation tests, and engine power checks. The company also used modified test vehicles in collision-safety tests for some past models, and submitted faulty data during pedestrian-safety tests for three current models. Toyota's chairman, Akio Toyoda, apologized for the issues and promised to improve vehicle testing. Safety recalls In June 2024, Toyota also recalled certain 2024 Lexus RX and 2024-2025 Lexus NX vehicles due to a noncompliance safety issue. The head restraints in the front seats may be removable without pressing the release button, which could increase the risk of injury in a rear-end crash. Toyota also recalled certain 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander vehicles because the curtain shield airbags may not deploy properly if the driver's or passenger's side windows are rolled down

@uday143kiran Every car company has their issues: Toyota and Lexus are no exception. But they have built a reputation for reliability that no other car company can touch. Toyota could string together 4 tires, slap their logo on it, and STILL far outsell Hyundai. Even HONDA is no match for Toyota, so you acting like Hyundai is even in the same league with Toyota is laughable. 2023 Hyundai sold 4.2M vehicles, Toyota sold 11.1M. Not even close, but nice try. 🤭
