After driving all 3 of these vehicles I bought a 2016.5 MAZDA CX5. More fun to drive than the others, and the interior looks like a BMW. Handling is better than the other 2 also. Transmission is VERY smooth, shifts great!

No matter how many reviews you see on cars, they always talk about the way the car FEELS and never talk about any mechanical improvements that would make the car last longer with lower maintenance cost. You never know just how much planned obsolence was put into these cars, respectively. And much as I love cars, I'll never buy a new one, especially after watching the show _Adam ruins everything_ about car dealerships. If Had my way, I'd retrofit a car into electric and get rid of all those fancy electronics because it's just another device that will go bad hence needs costly servicing. All this technology is a distraction to what matters most: a reliable car.

Take those things in count and the specs will change a lot I love the CX-5 But if you want a car with affordable prices for pieces, less amount of motor/transmission problems, buy the Rav4

A lot of good points here, but everyone forgot one very important thing. Which is, that the CRV is a HONDA. Which means the best fit and finish, reliability, and of course excellent resale value. While the others might offer one or even two of these important features, none of them can offer all three. Especially the resale value. If you're planning on keeping your vehicle for five years or more, then there really is only one choice.

Overall there is not anything that can match the elegant look of the CRV and how it handles , Seats are real Leather , controls correctly placed , and such a quiet ride . Mazda CX5 by far is the driver's car for someone who cares about driving. Toyota and Honda may feel comfortable but very sloppy with steering and suspension. CRV is best selling car mostly because people who shop in this segment don't really care too much about handling and suspension etc.. they are not buying BMW or Mercedes. Out of 3 I will take CX5 any day just because it drives very nicely and handles precisely.
@DanielSparten
@DanielSparten 9 жыл бұрын
At the end of the day people put reliability and looks, value and dimensions in interior. Not comfortability and ride. Usually people put those on the bottom of the list. People really don't care if the suspension is soft or stiff or the steering is sharp or numb. Like for goodness sakes, small cars and suv, cuv aka non sports car are not meant to be sporty. People keep complaining about how a car is so soft when the car aims for comfortable and soft ride and not a sharp handling low gravity steering gt3 road car. Mazda excels at the level where they tend to put their cars sporty and sharp. But at the end people don't care about its handling and ride because they want a car with great value and features and a vehicle that last forever.

I think its the price point. The mid-level trim is $31k. I think with the 3 that was compared, they're top trim comparisons, and they were around $30k. I also thought that also the VW Tiguan should compared here, but also the Ford Escape (I've been seeing a ton of those on the road) and the GM twin crossovers (Chevy Equinox & GMC Terrain); however, Edmonds may view it as a midsize 2 row SUV.

I was down to the RAV4 and CX-5. I liked them both. They were both comfortable, handled well, but there were 2 negative things about the Rav4 I didn't like. The bucket seat's wings, where you sit and the sides, were too sharply angled inwards. It's like they were made for small people. When I sat I felt squeezed in, kind of like an airline seat. Plus the video screen was not user friendly, one had to go thru too many screens to get where you wanted. And the passenger couldn't use the Nav.

CRV I think is the best without the navi screen. Transmission is a proven reliable 5 speed and shifts are fast and responsive. We have the 2012 LX AWD model and it's safe, reliable, practical, and built tough. Our CRV weighs in at only 3500 pounds. My friend got one of those new Chevy Sonic LT sedans and in tips the scales at 4200 pounds!?. Easy peasy driving in snow/ice situations. Spaceous and practical interior won us over. The Mazda is a close second if I needed a sportier and stylisher ride.

The CX-5 is by far better than the Forester. I've owned two Foresters, a 2002 and a 2010. Over the years, Subaru has cheapened up the Forester. The 2010 has a very cheap tinning feel. Although you can't beat the all wheel drive of Subaru, the 2011-2014 have been having trouble with excessive oil usage. Also 2010 has a really bad problem with mice getting into the interior of the car. My wife found dropping, so we set a mouse trap.... caught 11 mice!! I've found out that if you leave the air source set at outside air, they will find a away in. That a huge design flaw. I've just purchased a 2015 CX-5 and are LOVING it compared to the forester.

@stevenmcfarlane6569 9 жыл бұрын
Carlos Pereira Jeez Carlos, seems like your the one talking out of your a$$, just Google "mice in forester" and your see plenty of complaints. The other issues I mentioned are also correct. Subaru "fix" for the high oil usage is the following: bring in your Forester for a free oil change, they will document quantity of oil used, mileage, and then they want you to return when you get another 1200 miles on the car. Then they will drop the oil, measure it for usage and if the car used 8/10th of a quart or less, they consider it to be "normal", that all engines some oil. Come on now, that is no way normal... that is bull crap. At that rate you would have to add 4 1/2 - 5 quarts of oil during the recommended oil change interval. The biggest issue I have with a Forester is that I highly recommended the Forester to my neighbor, a retired school teacher, and she has the oil problem with her 2012. I feel terrible that she doesn't feel secure with the car. She also thinks the car is Tinny.

Yes, the passenger could not use the Navigation while the driver was driving. That was a big negative. We drive as a couple most times and there is no reason Nav should be locked out from Passenger input while driving. But on the Toyota it is. So, no Toyota. That left the Mazda CX-5, which I ended up buying. I bought one fully loaded, Grand Touring, Tech package. It's wonderful, does everything I wanted except for one thing. No power liftgate - they forgot that. Otherwise, it's the best.

In the future you guys might want to mention AWD systems for shits and giggles. I know it isn't important to most people but they do differ and make noticeable differences in light off road situations. For snow they will all work amazing garenteed (plenty of power to spin all 4, high range = less slippage, light weight).

I got a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander. Its reliable, very roomy, good fuel mileage, lots of features, good value, quick, makes a nice sound, and the manual feature actually works when you want it to. It'll actually go into redline! I drove the Honda and Toyota and both were boring and not fun to drive. It all came down to the Tiguan, Outlander, and Forester. Tiguan=Too expensive Forester=Cant stand a CVT Outlander=Bit noisy at highways speeds but everywhere else its great.

Well I’m glad for ya,I had to rent a car a few months ago and it was that Mitsubishi and that one was the worst vehicle I’d ever driven. Maybe it was in a wreck because it handled not only poorly but like something was wrong so I just had to buy a car and I picked the 2014 RAV4 that has way too small of tank for its fuel mileage and rides like a rock with those 18in wheels. Oh I miss my real cars! 😂

This is the soft-roader market, which Toyota designed in 1989 and gave life to in 1993 (Japan), 1994 (Australia) and 1996 for the rest of the world, with it's RAV4. Back then it was a lot smaller, engine was reasonable for the size, and a 4WD system and floor pan designed and interchanged with the ST205 Celica GT4 turbo. Now however, it's gotten a lot fatter and the engine size has only increased 400cc to offset it. Also now it has a garbage 4WD system which has an auto-disengage at 40km/h. After that it's FWD only. So it's no longer the 4WD that got the market started. They made headway into getting better power with the 2GR-FE (200kw) 3.5L V6 engine option, but they've since deleted this from the options. Now it has the 2AR-FE 2.5L version but it's still as fat as it was last generation. The CR-V has always nipped at the heels of the RAV4 ever since the 90's and now the CX-5 has to play catch-up. At least the RAV4 now has a rear bumper and moved the spare wheel off the tailgate.

I looked at all 3 of these when I needed to buy one in July. I crossed off the CRV first - 2 reasons, the 1st:the lip on the floor by the driver's door was higher than the other two, and 2nd, the emergency brake was set too low to the floor ;my foot kept hitting it when I wanted to get out of the vehicle. Now I,m disabled and have problems with my hips and lower back. Lifting my left leg up high causes problems. So no CRV, not User friendly to those with leg problems.

Interesting observations. I just purchased a 2013 Honda CR-V in the Philippines. The emergency brake is a hand break on the console. I’m 6’3” and I would definitely notice the higher lip, but unlike a Jeep I have no issues getting in and out of the CR-V. While I’ve only had the CR-V a few days I love it already.

You don't need one of those when you can have a rav4 😀👍 and have it for many years without spending a small fortune on turbo or cvt.

I think they should test them at 100,000 miles and keep track of every repair and the cost of fuel. Everything runs great when it is new, especially if the manufacturer gives you millions in advertising. That way you can't be truthful. After people get to a certain age, it isn't that their priorities change, it is that their priorities do change. Hahahah. When the kids are grown and you start trying to get ready to retire or even before that, earn mortgage payments and saving for your kids' education are more important than driving a new car, you tend to take much better care of a car and keep it longer. The main priority swings towards the more practical, such as, will this do what I need? How long will it last? Is it safe. What are the long term reports on repairs and the actual cost of ownership. After spending most of my adult life in the auto industry, the biggest mistake I see people making is having brand loyalty. When we have that, we reward companies for making inferior products by purchasing them anyway.

Hmmm So, basically this was a comparison of the Rav and the Mazda. You barely even mentioned the Honda. You either buy Honda's, or Toyota's if into foreign vehicles. It's basically a personal preference, rather then which vehicle is actually better. And, some may choose the Mazda. But. lets face it, Mazda generally comes after the other 2 mentioned.

I bought a CX5 because I could not get over the unusual Toyota exterior design and CR-V looked too boring. And CX5 has best mpg. I have had three mazda's before and they were all good in reliability so it was an easy choice.
