Demetrios K Rush 2112 tells a story. I have no idea what story is told by the Elder other than there is a boy. The fact that the scrambled the songs for the record company is embarrassing and only makes it more of a farce in my opinion. I feel bad for Eric Carr to have gotten his big break and this is what they came up with? There are a couple of good songs on the Elder but for me this album is mostly regrettable.

I love Ace, It sucked that it came up against "Under the Rose" which by the way has an amazing guitar solo. I like, "Into the Void" although it seems they were trying to recapture, "Rocket Ride" So I fully agree with your assessment.

I like both Albums BUT I feel The Elder they tried to do something new, at the time not received well over time It's becoming a favorite, Psycho Circus, much like Sonic Boom and Monster felt they wanted to recapture the 70s instead of Revenge that was KISS but had it's own identity, It felt like what a 90s KISS should sound like. I think carnival of souls is on the same level as The Elder they we're trying something new.. at the time was received but now It has it's following. KISS, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Ozzy's solo work is bands I was influenced by at age 7 thanks to my Mom who is blind raised me on Rock/Metal so.. yeah lol. Keep up the Killer Work Brother.

Not sure I see the point of this particular comparison. Sure you can compare two subsequent albums from the Kiss canon like "Creatures..." and "Lick It Up" - similar era, similar lineup (yeah, Vinnie had huge input on "Creatures"), similar songwriting style etc. and certainly comparable. "Psycho Circus" and "The Elder" however are black and white, chalk and cheese, oceans (not to mention years) apart. "The Elder" isn't really comparable with any other Kiss album (except maybe "Destroyer" in that Bob Ezrin was at the helm of both and really steered the band into unchartered territory and consequently shifted Kiss up a gear with both albums) but the former is a stand alone album. Interesting also, that you'd do "The Elder" in that running order as I think in many countries (including Australia where I bought it) they rearranged it. Correct in that "Odyssey" does suck arse though, and lets down an otherwise thoroughly excellent album (so suck on that you Elder haters). "Psycho Circus" on the other hand... meh.

I am a metalhead, but I also have some eclectic tastes I love everything about the Elder and I love Finally Found My Way, IMO its a very seventies type of ballad. so I guess it reminds me of something I would of heard growing up. On the other hand I cant stand We Are One or You Wanted the Best, both IMO insincere crap about how united the band is LMAO.....Cheesy as it is I always loved Pledge Allegiance, Journey of a 1000 years is frigging awesome but other than that mid section never cared for the song Psycho Circus either LOL

Under the Rose vs Into the Void - I love the intro on Under the Rose, but the chorus.. meh.. I pick Into the Void. 5. Dark Light vs We Are One - We Are One is terrible, it's sooooo cheesy hehe. Dark Light is underrated! 6. A World Without Heroes vs You Wanted the Best - You Wanted the Best is meh.. A World Without Heroes is my favorite on the Elder album. 7. The Oath vs Raise Your Glasses - I don't like the falsetto singing on The Oath.. so I pick Raise Your Glasses, I think it's alright. 8. Mr. Blackwell vs I Finally Found My Way - Mr. Blackwell is a whatever song to me, I think it's boring. I Finally Found My Way.. I always liked it! It totally beats We Are One, sue me. ;) ;) 9. Escape from the Island vs Dreamin' - Have to say Escape from the Island here., it's cool. I like the sirens, chaotic! 10. I vs Journey of 1,000 Years - This was interesting, I pick....... The comparison format for this is weird to me...track 1 vs track 1 and so on. I don't think it necessarily reflects which is a better album. You could come out in a tie based on how the songs line up, but think one album is much better than the other as a whole...maybe it's even possible to score the worse album as the victor with this format, I dunno. I think you also lost count. You said you had it scored 5 to 4...if both albums have 10 songs, the total should be 10, not 9...unless maybe there was a tie, but I dont recall hearing that. Sorry, too lazy to watch it again.

I love KISS in the 70s before Dynasty. Will get that album "another day in court". But,the Elder was during the Dark Times that even the producer went Yikes cause his drug issues. Psycho Circus I never bought but I heard some songs on the Farewell 2000 tour. 19 yrs later we're still talking about the End of the Road. Now,the Hereafter Tour I might do. Not a hologram tour. But Zombie KISS Alive eating PEOPLE brains. I at least would buy the DVD of that.
