Steps used to enable Traffic sign recognition. You will need OBDEleven or VCDS to make the changes.

You will need an A5 camera fitted already used for e.g. lane assist.

Hello, great video! I just finished the coding on a Canadian market 2017 Mk.7 Golf Alltrack. The coding went well, with no glitches. I can see the Dynamic Road Sign Recognition option in the central console in the Car-> Assistance systems menu. I can also see that the compass has moved from top centre of the dashboard to the bottom left and that the temperature display moved from bottom centre to bottom right of the dashboard. However, when I scroll through the Driving Data screen on the dashboard, when I reach the Road Signs sub-menu, I have a message that reads "No road signs available". Hence, when I drive, no road signs pop up on the dashboard. I suppose I do not have the right camera? Thanks again.

The difference between the instructions on this video from other videos on YTB is that on module 5F (Multimedia), on Adaptations (channel: Car Function List BAP Gen2), you should have selected: - traffic_sign_recognition_0x21_msg_bus - Databus extended On channel: Car Function Adaptations Gen2: - menu display road sign identification over threshold high - active On the same module 5F (Multimedia), on Long Coding, you should also check (enable) Byte 01 - Bit 0. If you want a combined show on the dashboard between the maps on your GPS database signs (speed limits) mixed with the ones the traffic sign recognition is catching, you should go to module A5 (Driver Assist), on Adaptation, you should select: - Road Sign Detection Fusion Mode → Road sign fusion You could always select to "Active" on module 5F (Multimedia), on long Coding: byte 24 - bit 6. In this video it´s not recommended, unlike 2 other videos on YTB. As a final recommendation I would say you should have the windshield in front of the camera always perfectly clean. I would say if it's a leased car then some eagle eyed ones may have an issue and say you modified the car. Never heard of an issue like that though.

If you have the kit, follow the instructions. If your camera requires parameterization, it just won't work. Revert to original

Unfortunately, tsr data needs to be loaded into the camera. For many countries this wasn't done. Unfortunately, you will not be able to get this functionality. However, if you drive through a country where it exists it will turn on

Yes the last option of VZE / VZA I explain in the video which option to select. Ideally you want a hybrid where it shows maps signs and then it overwrites it with what it's picked up from the camera

If you don't have blind spot from factory then you're missing the mirrors and the 2 rear sensors that go into the bumper. You won't have be able to just code them in.

You need at least vcds hex-v2. Some countries don't have tsr. If it works in Germany there is nothing wrong with the setup. Maybe try trying the vze option in long coding (see video)

Would love to, but lane assist is slightly more complicated as you need to have the right hardware installed and enabled. Unless you're talking about the "drunk" version of lane assist

'Traffic sign recognition 0x21' (no underscores) is found under 'Vehicle function list BAP' 'Menu display road sign identification' is found under 'Vehicle menu operation' When long coding, none of the bits are labelled. On updating controller 17, byte 5, bit 2, I get the same 'Dynamic Road Sign Display Error' in the dash, so same coding seems to apply Finally, on locating controller 5F, byte 24, bit 6, it was already unchecked, despite the fact that I have the display of Nav traffic signs activated. This makes me wonder if the coding should be different on this model? The end result is that no traffic signs are displayed and I when I select the Road Signs in the dash, I get the 'Road Sign Display Error' message. Any thoughts or advice you can offer?

@@garynicholson360 The slight renaming of things is poor admin from obd11 however the byte/bit may not have descriptions for your vehicle but if it's mqb platform you should be fine. As always it's advised to do a backup so you can revert to it. However similar names under a different adaption, I don't think would work. However this is the beauty, you can try it and revert if it doesn't.

Seems unlikely they'd install a camera if you have nothing that uses it. The camera is pretty big from the front of the windscreen you should see two notches, one is camera and the other is rain sensor. Sounds like you probably just have the rain sensor

@@laymandiy I did take a closer look and there is a camera there above the rain sensor. I did also look at my dads s5 which has drivers assistance and they look the same. It does make some sense from a manufacturing perspective to just make one assembly for all q7s so that maybe why it’s there. I do also have pre sense so that’s why it could be there. I’m not 100% sure if it is the right a5 camera I’ve seen mentioned and if it is will it require tweaking and coding I’m not willing todo to get the rest of the drivers assistance besides acc

There isn't enough information here to determine. Front assist and acc doesn't mean you'll have TSR. The main thing is the camera given that you don't have lane assist or TSR already makes me think you don't have the right camera.

Don't think there is a third party part you can even use. Part should be easy to find, just find the parts catalogue online and look for the part number for a spec of vehicle that has it. Most likely will start with 5q0 ...

It's not the version, it's the car. It dependant on obdeleven company putting descriptions for your car in the database.

You can try, but I think the bolero struggles with the fusion mode where as Columbus works out of the box and Amundsen has a better chance.

The device is the same. If You want to do the 'aplications' You can buy credits, but if You want to do coding/adaptations or long coding, you may buy pro plan or ultimate plan.

I bought the OBDeleven PRO pack, and I can access the car and all the apps etc. When I try the first step with 5F/multimedia, car_function_list_BAP_Gen2 is not in the list. I have a 2022 Scala. Any ideas what might be wrong please?

Yes, so newer models are struggling with this. There is more security. Once it's been worked out, I'll post a new video. As it stands there is a step that you cannot do without vw involvement so stuck atm.

@@laymandiy Ah, I see. I couldn't use any of the apps either - they let me select "yes" but then failed to write after I ticked save. The credits were used then refunded. Was that also caused by the additional security? Is it worth me keeping the product? I currently can't do much with it. When do you think it will be worked out? Thank you for your help so far.

I wouldn't touch the apps at all.. they are just a series of commands in a script, known to cause problems, because you don't know what exact changes it is doing. Up to you, it's a good diagnostic tool as well for all VW maybe help some locals out for a couple of quid here there and you've made your money back

Is your lane assist adaptive? I.e. you have adaptive option which centres the car between the lines?

@@laymandiy not sure but the lane assist does automatically steer the car back to the lane if I don't touch the wheel. I don't think I have an option to change that to just notify of lane change. If I don't indicate, the car will try to steer its way back into the middle of the lane

@@laymandiy hey thanks for replaying. Yes i have and its working. But when i drive past a speed limit with 60 and a line over (means the speed limit is 80) then it shows nothing. And whwn i drive it sometimes says «limited functionality» on my MFD display. What does that mean? I am living in Norway btw.

Limited functionality means it hasn't picked up a road sign either from the camera or the maps data. Laws around speed on maps vary from country so it could be multitude of things. yh it might not have what that means. In the UK a kind of black and white no entry sign means national speed and it does pick that up on mine.

Easiest would be the trim level you have. But if you look at the rear view mirror if the base it goes into isn't at least a handspan then you don't have the camera... Bear in mind there are 2 types of camera and the bigger one is the one you need

When i enter the byte and bit info and press the green tick it does not save. A red box comes up and says 31 not available. This is for byte 16 bit 04 in the video at 3.00 in the video.

There are many variables here. For example if you're in country which doesn't allow it, or it cannot recognise the traffic signs in your country

Hi there, owner of a Tiguan tsi 245hp R line with the big camera. Tried to enable traffic sign recognition through the obd eleven app which costs 100credits, and while the app is scaning i get the message "function is not available". I could try going the long coding way but from what i see on the web nobody has succeded on activating traffic sign recognition on facelifted tiguans......there must be something that vw has done there.

Tried the long coding way, and there's nothing remotely similar as option to what's shown in your tutorial video or in other pages in the web. Vw must have changed something on newer >2021 Tiguans

Yes they have.. newer ones require parametrisation on the camera to enable the bits and adaptions on the obd11. Unfortunately it's out of scope for most people as it requires using official VW equipment with a dealer code.

This is for mqb platform you have MLB where the camera needs to be parameterised first followed by these codings on obd11 or vcds

You can parameterise yourself if you know how, it's not as simple as what is shown in this video. You'll need to research and learn what's required the steps etc.. you can use VCP or ODIS plus you'll need the interface to connect to your car. Any old mechanic cannot do this you'll need to go to retrofit specialist.

Thanks for the effort LaymanDIY! I was so inspired by this, that I bought an OBDEleven PRO setup and attempted to do this on 2022 SQ5 Sportback. Could only find the first and the last step in the procedure that match. Is that something that is known?

What trim level do you have? You need at least premium plus or greater...

@@yury.k So whilst you have the hardware, these steps are for MQB you have the MLB Evo. So whilst this may not work for you, it appears you have the hardware ready. I will have to look into MLB evo I do not have a car at hand to make the assesment.

I have found that it's a 2 step process. 1st step is paramatisation of the camera which can only be done using ODIS / VCP and the second step is to use obd11 or vcds to finish the coding.

Hi there, I have an Audi Q3 F3 2019 without navigation and bought the dongle from Kufatec to enable traffic sign recognition. It is working, camera is reading traffic signs, but after 2 minutes I always get the same warning on the dashboard. "Traffic sign recognition is limited, please check your manual" or something like this. Although it doesn't cause any problems, it is very annoying every single time, 2 minutes after ignition to get the same warning. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the absence of navigation. Any recommendations to avoid this stupid warning? 🙂

Link to navigation isn't superficial. Try flicking the VZE parameter in long coding. Also silly question, is your windscreen clean.

The windscreen is crystal clear 🙂 I will try this, but as far as I have searched a lot of people have the same problem with me and noone has ever found a solution. I think the VZE parameter was unchecked

No, it is almost impossible. I'll have to change the infotainment unit, change the wiring and then verify the new infotainment in an official AUDI service. And I forgot to tell you that AUDI says that I cannot make this upgrade 😛 dead-end!
