Welcome to another trip report! In this video we are traveling from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, in Germany 🇩🇪 to Fredericia, in Denmark 🇩🇰 with the medium/long distance IC3 train, also known as class MF. Hope you enjoy!

The trains were built in the late 80's/start 90's so with that in mind, i think they are in good condition

Yes, but it's still a diesel train, which are not as comfortable to ride, i prefer IR4 (class ER) and/or class ET, all 3 trains are basically the same, the other two are just electric. And everything else compared to electric trains is inferior, sorry, that's just facts, but at least we're finally getting all electric trains now, about time :)

It was designed with standard parts in mind. Even the engines are standard truck engines from Deutz. With close to 35 years in service, it has done well.

Done this train many times on way to Sweden. Comfort is good, but shame it is diesel when whole route is electrified! Should be much better from 2023 when the Talgo sets take over, hauled by Vectron locos. Eventually, when the tunnel is operational trains to Copenhagen will travel the shorter route in about 3 hours. However the work for this has not even started!

DSB has made a very good purchase with the Talgo sets and the Vectron locomotives. I'm sure that the route from Hamburg to Copenhagen will win many more travelers if the travel time is reduced. In my opinion, it is a bit uncomfortable the fact that there are few direct connections or having to change trains in Kolding or Fredericia. 😄 I hope you enjoyed the video! 👋 Greetings from Spain, Marcos.

The travel time between Hamburg and Copenhagen when the tunnel is finished will be 2 hours and 30 minutes directly, and about 3 hours with stops at some of the big stations in denmark and germany :), you can read more about this on the official website :)

This mean IC3 will be retired by then? Since i'd like to be driven in IC3 and im going to Denmark next year after Easter

@@saabrailfan310 The IC3 still has _at least_ another few years left until the main routes in Denmark are eventually electrified and new electric trains start replacing them. I'm not completely sure what the plan is.

The seat are not broke :-) We used it in case of emergency exit trough the windows, then the seats can cover for broken glass ect. ;-)

And many drop their phone nowadays. So that's also an easy way to get it back while remove the seat :-) .... Or someone pie on the seat it's easy to replace

Nice video. DSB definitely has areas where it needs to improve for sure. I mean imagine being stuck in such a train for close to 5 hours and then you have the experience of travelling the entire way from Copenhagen to either Hamburg or Aalborg. Something like a way to buy a cinnamon roll or a sandwich would defintiely be nice. However DSB are soon getting new trains including Talgo wagons for the routes to Hamburg and a new EMU type for domestic regional, intercity and Lyntog traffic. Also is it supposed to only be 360p or is that just an error?

I traveled with DSB in 2017 from København to Horsens in 2nd Class and I think that the train guard was selling some hot drinks. 🧃 It would be great if the trains had a bistro area, moreover on these long journeys. 🎒 I'm looking forward to seeing the new Talgo coaches and the Vectron locomotives soon! DSB introduced a thing called "Kaffeexpressen" onboard certain trains earlier this year. It's basically a staff member from a DSB 7-eleven shop walking through the train selling stuff. They have a backpack with coffee and a basket with snacks. The snacks on sale depends on the time of day. In the morning there's breakfast and in the afternoon/evening there's sandwiches. They also sell candy etc although it's a very limited selection.

This is NOT a regional train ! As the name already indicates IC3, you cannot use it in Germany with “ regional” tickets but only with long haul tickets (intercity)

Yes, but it's being used for both intercity and regional in Denmark :)

You did a huge mistake! DSB 1 is just a waste of money and it barely has any benefits other than you get a carriage to yourself!
