The carbon roof is definitely a good touch. The only issue is that you almost always have to have a cage or half cage for that extra bit of safety I the event of a crash

I would think that adding a carbon roof panel without any type of cage is fine. The support and structure in the roof comes from the frame, including the pillars, not the flimsy sheet metal. A car that comes to mind is the M3 CSL which came with a carbon roof and no cage. I'm sure there's been others as well.

CF roof shouldn’t cause issues if the CF is laid well and thick enough. A lot of issues with aftermarket plugs happen because 1. Sunroof delete usually requires a reinforcement bow, which yours doesn’t because there’s no sunroof to begin with. 2. Aftermarket plugs are usually plastic/fiberglass with an aesthetic CF layer, which doesn’t have the rigidity of a real CF plug. Roof skin isn’t the main structure bearing part on most cars that I know of, doubt it is with the R32. Not sure why so many are saying it is.

Don't panel bond a roof skin. Theres a specific adhesive for roof skins with a little more flex, panel bond is too rigid and will crack

I had an (oem) carbon roof on my e92 m3. I don't think it would be creaky if it's proberly bonded in. It was exposed carbon though and the TX sun took it's toll on the gelcoat.

With my Sheetz app I pay $3.50 for 93 in Richmond, VA Also so many cars have carbon roofs from the factory without a cage. Those people definitely don't know what they're talking about. As long as it retains the factory roof cross structure support it'll be 110% fine. DO THE CARBON ROOF!!!

You will have to definately reinforce the upper structure and cage if you plan on carbon roof. But that's your call because safety is critical.

Long time viewer. I always watch your videos to the end. Enjoy the content and hope you continue making more. I want to see the gtr finished! will say that Carbon Roofs are worth it. STIs Type RAs have carbon roofs from factory and totally worth it. My friend got in a crash and rolled over on the top and the roof saved him. Didn’t crush under pressure. Also carbon is a nice touch. Also in VT 93 is $4.49 a gallon. Not fun at all :(
