This is what caused all the vibration? Could it be that easy? Check out how easy it is to change the transmission mount on Dominic's S500 Mercedes.
When driving we noticed some vibration, sometimes more, sometimes less, but usually at or around 2000-2500rpm. With the tires balanced and the problem not resolved it had to be a problem with the drive train. Let's start at the cheapest point, the transmission mount.
These products are what I used.

Don’t really remember. It’s an old video. But it was solid compared to the old worn out one. If in doubt, always go OEM. This cheap one just worked for us.

Unfortunately only original MB or aftermarket Boge/Lemforder (both are the OM suppliers) will get you near the mileage as the factory installed did. This cheap aftermarket will be toast in a few couple thousand miles. Boge engine/trans mount are factory installed parts for like 30+ years.
@Turbo_Snail

I gotta say, you are right. Mercedes parts are superior to aftermarket parts. However, you gotta weigh your options to how long you want it to last. In our case the car isn’t worth going Original. If the car was in better shape, probably. We need this one the last 5-6 more years, that’s it.

Hey guys. This was very clear and concise. We were just told our transmission mount was going bad ... at 48k miles. They wanted about $350, which I declined and jumped right onto KZbin and found this. Very helpful. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

@@Turbo_Snail its a 2014 C250 Coupe in my favorite color, Lunar Blue. It just turned 48k... and I think they are doing the usually dealer ploy by trying to find things wrong. They said it was "showing signs" of wear.. Yeah right. They also wanted $150 to change the engine air filter and $375 for spark plugs. They are the biggest MB dealer in the US and I assume most times people just pay...but NOT me. I will wrench things myself. Thank you for this video. If I get any vibration, I will do this.

@@chazsch Its great to see the list of things to do from the dealer. For the most part, you should be able to do everything yourself. I'm trying to remember but my dealer quoted over $1500 replacing all 16 spark plugs and close to $2000 for the brakes. I already did the plugs (no video unfortunately), but the brakes are definitely coming up soon.

Thanks for sharing, I have noticed when I accelerate in 1st and 2nd then let off gas the gear stick moves (as if it is straining under torque load then moves when acceleration is eased off) just curious if this is a mount issue?
@Turbo_Snail
@Turbo_Snail 2 жыл бұрын
Hm, The stick should not move. I would say that transmission mount is probably the cheapest option to start with. Then move over to check/replace the flex disks on the drive shaft. Ours wasn't that bad so I didn't see anything moving. But we did feel a difference with the trans mount.

No I did not. I checked the flex disks and they will be next but I didn’t have the typical flex disk signs. Like when you put the car in drive it feels like it slams into gear. You shouldn’t feel it when going from P to D. If you do I’d start at the disks.

Due to a battery acid issue, I had to replace my transmission at 20k miles. The new transmission (same year used with 14k miles) has been working great, except recently at 25k miles I hear a pop the first time I reverse. The van is still under factory powertrain warranty. A tire shop is saying my issue is transmission mounts. How is this possible at 25k miles? Is it possible to damage transmission mounts from off-roading?
@Turbo_Snail
@Turbo_Snail 2 жыл бұрын
I think so. Off-roaring puts a lot of stress on all your part. That being said, 25k? You must be doing some heavy duty off roading. Are you sure you’re not towing a Boeing through the Sahara desert?

@@Turbo_Snail Thank You!. I don't think it's the transmission mount. I heard the exact popping noise for the first time while stuck in deep sand last month. (note it's FWD 4 cylinder van). I drove 300 miles after that and never heard it. It now only happens when I pull out after being parked for a while. Never while driving and it's a single pop with a change in direction. Some have told me it must be a u-joint or an axle. It tends to happen when turning left. How can I diagnose where the problem is?

When the rubber deteriorates the trans/motor can move when accelerating suddenly creating an unpleasant drive. Trans mount is very easy as you can see on the video. Engine mount is a bit harder because of how little space it is to get to. How much were you quotes for each?
