I realized Connie is really his only human friend friend. Lars, Sadie, and the others are all older than him, and they are friends with him, but their maturity levels have always been different. He was like the cute kid who everyone loved. Now everyone is once again on a different stage of their life. It has become obvious Steven’s entire support system in terms of human things has been Connie, but now Connie is growing into her own, and Steven realizes how little of a human life he actually had. I think this is the most important time for Greg to be present. Love your reactions

Well, on top of that, Connie was also the first human in his life that was somewhat actively *_involved_* in the same activities he was, and subsequently was one of the few people that actually somewhat understood his perspective on his role in the Crystal Gems and what was actually going on in the grander scheme. Sure he had Greg, but Greg had prior attachments and made a point to not join in on the fight if it wasn't necessary. The other Boardies knew even less, and Sadie and Lars were the two that got most involved just through random chance. Lars only truly got involved when he got swept away to Homeworld and Sadie knew bare minimum. So that pretty much meant that he was nigh constantly having a social separation between his human half and his Gem half because, when he was with the Gems, they were usually focused on fighting or learning Gem history, while when he was with humans, discussion on Gem stuff wouldn't really arise. Connie bridged that gap for him. She's been his grounding force for most of the series because she's the closest he's got to actually having someone to relate to.

Episode 14 is both very sad and very frightening, because, for all intents and purposes, Steven was a child soldier for the early years of his adolescence. The show did a good job of sugar-coating it for the most part up until this point, but Steven spent much of his pre/early pubescent period as a warrior for a ragtag group of freedom fighters fighting against an interstellar empire(type 1 on the Kardashev scale, due to their ability to make complete utilization of a planet’s resources-something we humans are not yet capable of)with an unlimited army equipped with inhuman abilities and advanced technology and ruled by a trio of beings with power on par with deities. Add that to the fact that he wasn’t entirely human, gifted with similar abilities to his enemies, and never knowing his mother, who was responsible for starting the whole war in the first place. Also, I just really want to point out-during Change Your Mind, you remember how Steven got separated from his Gem and looked like he was dying? Yeah. Not only does he not have his Gem powers to hold his body together anymore as his past injuries flared up again, he also dropped from like a _hundred_ feet in the air after White Diamond *dropped* him, which probably broke like half of his bones. He had no Gem healing at that moment. The relief must have been so powerful when he reunited with his other half and stopped hurting. Can you even imagine?

It's also the fact that being a children/young teen's cartoon, there's no show of gore. So we can only imagine just how bloody and broken he was during the separation. Bleeding heavily from where the gem was torn out, cracked skull and broken bones (could have even been compound fractures). I mean unless those injuries on the x-ray happened during the time skip, I'd say it had to have been from then.

I have seen a number of child protagonists in a number of mediums who should probably have therapy. Some of them seem to be able to let their problems slide off their backs like water off of a duck, but others while managing their problems well would definitely benefit from talking to someone about their problems. At the very least that would let their get any grievances out in the open where they can figure out how to face them. Still I agree, Steven need therapy. Just an observation not an insult. He has been dealing with more then what one person should have to deal with and these things take their toll on people.

I, actually, really love the concept of Steven's powers, more specifically his "diamond aura", been related to "mind", and that he has helped other people deal with their mental state. But, he can't fully grasp his own mental needs. And that's one issue for emphathetic people (Steven included) so they put themselves as seconds, in order to make others feel better.

Having a type two personality is a blessing and/or a curse, depending on where one falls on that line. In Steven's case, it's both; it's let him solve a lot of issues the universe was facing and gave him a lot of new friends, but at the cost of pretty much actively disassociating from himself.

Yellow: Physical state; Blue: Emotional State; Pink: Mental state; White, in reality her powers, haven't been that developed, in comparison to the other Diamonds, but putting in consideration that she can, control what other gems do, as "shining my light in them", I think her abilities involve controlling the willpower of the gems. So, the fusion between those four, without a doubt, will resolve in some overpowered being, but I just can't say how much.

You know what I love about this? That it’s not just the stuff we all already KNEW was traumatizing for Steven, the “big stuff”. It’s *everything.* It’s Frybo, it’s Cat Fingers, it’s the Watermelons, it’s Steven Floating for the first time- it’s alllllll these things that we look back on as small potatoes, or even cute, the kinds of things all kid protagonists in shows how through, where Steven is *still* objectively a child having their life endangered. Any ONE of those goofy, funny, “B-plot” episodes is still too much for a child to experience, and Steven took it ALL in stride for so long. Rewatching this show after these episodes is gonna be fascinating.

The most thing I relate to Steven is never meeting my mom, unhealthy management of stress, and being too paranoid or clingy, this is why I loved the show in the first place, he knows what it feels like to be incomplete and feels like him being born was a mistake, and always fulfilling everyones expectations

I love SUF and this episode was very well made, but i also hate episode 13 because it reminded me WAY too much of my own mistakes. And it went very similarly to what was shown here. from the semi-awkward hug, to telling her that "I'm fine don't worry" only for the mask to break as soon as she left, where i would fall face first onto my bed and cry into a pillow. Not a ton of things make me cry these days. This did. I was HEAVILY considering just not watching anymore because i didn't want to see what would happen, but eventually i realized that's dumb and continued watching

Something I felt since we saw how heavy SU Future was that: In Steven Universe we dealt with societal problems, relationships and how to develop your moral compass to treat situations outside and around you, this including people. While in SU Future we are dealing with more individual problems, with self-love, how to notice what is going with us, what could go wrong and what their effects are in those around us... How we should never overlook what situation is going on inside ourselves.

I mean, he's always had a problem addressing his issues. "I'd rather not think about it" when they were learning to fight as stevonnie, steven kept thinking about his issues with jasper and his mom, but trying to block it out and ignore it like it wasn't a big deal. It just made things worse. This is the repercussion of him always downplaying/avoiding talking about those things. I have high functioning depression/anxiety so I understand how steven feels, not wanting to be a bother. It comes from him really not fitting in anywhere, and not having a normal childhood[that's to say the least]. He's said that his dad and connie are the only humans he talks to, so he doesn't have a network of humans who could help him deal with human feelings. Jasper showed what happened when you lose sight of yourself as a gem, corruption. I think if steven has a panic attack, he's gonna become that horned worm thing from the intro

So, something I noticed... Steven knows exactly down to the T when Connie has her breaks from studying, even without having the exact time on him. She even calls it out, stating that he's "Spot on". So the depressing thought came to me - does Steven just wait around all day for her study breaks to end, up to the point that he knows the exact time of day each break is? Cause if so, my guy, that is not healthy. At all. At least Steven finally got some help in ep 14...

She reminds me of my sister in a lot of ways, which probably means she has an excel spreadsheet or google calendar or something with color coded blocks, and follows the same study time schedule (with color coded breaks blocked in) every day or every week. Knowing she's free every evening at 6:45 or whatever doesn't require him to be a stalker, just for her to be overy scheduled and precise and him to be aware of it.

I don’t think that’s true though at least on the gems being to blame of why Steven is like this yes they are his guardians and maternal figures in his life but they are thousands of years old aliens who have lived in a society that doesn’t have a need for schools or doctors like on earth and have really only started to interact to more people because of Steven more over they have never had to raise something like Steven before so to blame them for not taking him to school and to go see a doctor is like blaming a child for the death of their goldfish when it was just given to them with no instruction on how to take care of it plus like Connie’s mom says it’s Greg who should be looked at for why Steven never did these things even at the start of Steven universe the gems and Greg had always had the understanding that if a problem arose and it had something to do with his gem they would handle it and if it were human vice versa so if he told them hey I need to sign Steven up for school or I think Steven should go to the doctor they would have let him because they would have thought it was just something humans had to do or go through

Episode 14 really hit me harder than I thought it would. Steven, who thought his purpose from a young age was to help others, now sees that after all the conflict, no one needs help. Or rather, to Steven, no one needs *him.* And without any conflict, he feels like he no longer has a purpose...and with no purpose, he believes his life has little to no meaning now. I went through a similar phase a couple years ago after I graduated from college, but couldn't find a job in my field. I had to quit from one for mental health reasons, and afterwards, it's been hard finding more work. However, I got out of that dark place of thinking I was useless thanks to my best friend who accepted me into her small family with open arms. I don't believe that I *need* a purpose anymore, but I do believe that my life (wherever it leads) will always have meaning.

This is some PTSD type of stuff here, and I don't know if I'm prepared for what might be coming next. In one of the commercials for (what I assume is) next week's episodes, it looked like Steven might punch that big black "fallen star" that Greg fixed with duct tape way, way back in S1. I am no longer certain whether this will end like a rom-com, like Romeo & Juliet, in tragedy, joyously... all I know, is I'm probably gonna be crying by the time this whole mess is over.

First episode: Aw they're so cute, I love them! But also, Steven, sweetie, no.. "Lets get married" No Steven! "and live as Stevonnie!" Steven, NO!!!" But glad one of his "moms" is finally sitting down and talking with him. Second episode: Oh god its happening.. ITS HAPPENING!! Wormie Boi! Also. "Finally a fucking professional!!!" (I literally started screeching while yelling this. I totally didn't expect my voice to go that high lol). Seeing all those fractures in his skull made me very... uncomfortable. I mean, he healed quickly, but baby boy still got his head cracked open several times. I've started calling Wormie Boy, Caterpillar Boi (though that isn't as catchy) after a theory I saw last week. The season is about growth and change right? What's one of the biggest symbols for change? A butterfly. Remember what Steven's sleeping bag used to be? A caterpillar.

We thought Connie was gonna flat out try to stay away from Steven and completely wreck him emotionally, and while yeah he obviously didn’t walk away emotionally unharmed, it could’ve been a lot worse. Meanwhile with Growing Pains, we thought it was gonna be the start of his corruption, but that wasn’t what happened. We should stop expecting the worse honestly.
