I couldn’t agree more, the more we avoid our own trauma/healing the more we perpetuate collective disharmony. PS: I’m currently taking the 21 NS tune up course, absolutely loving the benefits of orienting, I really am noticing a shift in how I experience myself and the world around me 👌🏼

Damn this is like the key to how to not go back. People say let it go, don't look back, blah blah blah but they can't tell you how to do that. Thanks

I watched a video of yours that talked about how after 40, 50+years of being in a freeze state as with stored childhood trauma, it can be pushed into complete shutdown and cause chronic illnesses that occur after another serious trauma event that wakes us up by shutting our bodies almost completely down and forcing us to pay attention to our bodies finally or else it could cause a complete adrenal failure. Do you know what video this was? It explains exactly why my C-PTSD symptoms are near completely debilitating physical and that the narcissistic abuse trauma i just went through for years by my husband and I have been barely unable to function for over 3 years now. My childhood trauma was extremely severe and I'm beginning to understand how this affected my entire life in insurmountable ways. I need to watch that video again if you know which one it is. You have literally come into my life at the most critical time possible. I know that my body has shut down after 55 years of trauma, abuse, life and death events, that are what led me to the most inhumane and unspeakable trauma of my marriage over the past 12 years that I literally can't explain how I survived. But now I am concerned that after surviving all that I have been through I may not have cought my system in time to repair. I am determined to heal if at all possible. Thank you for all your work to help save lives and give a chance to live for the 1st time ever. You made a way for me to be free from the prison of trauma that I never was supposed to survive

Great video. I'm now finally in a place in which I can better understand some of the more elusive stuff Peter is trying to convey in Awaking the Tiger.

I can't tell you how but it seems like I'm going along on my merry way... all of a sudden I'm caught in a vortex. A whirlpool of tremendous force. I'm experiencing the world just like I am a two year old. Or a five or seven or twelve year old. I am scared. The people I once trusted, can't be trusted. The God I grew up believing. Not true. The police, teachers, Priest's and others who I was told were good. Define good. So, I'm 62. Yes, spent most of my life living in survival stress. Oh, no. I don't go through life thinking about things this way, the way I'm thinking while caught in the vortex. I'm usually Functional, Freeze. Which means that no matter how successful I may become... trigger! Vortex! There's a way out. No not Jesus, though beliefs in a door knob if it's comforting during such a morbid experience is not frowned upon. Remember, we're 3 or 5 or 12 emotionally. Nurturing is what we give to this child. If any of this made sense. I had to write something. This could be anybody.

There seems to be different versions. The one I'm choosing is 'a guide for you'. There is one for medical, military, education & psychology

I need help. I am really conflicted about taking SSRI's. I have been practicing Irene's 21days, oritenting etc. for 1 year and never been on medication, however I have some kind of PTSD from childhood trauma and last year there has been outside stressors that made anxiety peak to a point where I have difficulty to function. I have experienced the "organic" bubbling-up of anger emotion, or sometimes some kind of shaking that feels good. It seems when I can finally feel the emotion, that I feel a bit safer. Like the feeling of danger, the hypervigilance, and anxiety is the emotion that can't be felt. However maybe I have to accept for now I can´t do this work alone and I need a "lever" like my therapist said and accept to use medication until I can change my environment and find a new stable and safe envrionment. So I'm wondering should I just put all this work aside, or is it not so black and white and you can still build some nervous system capacity, and also have this "bubbling up" of anger that was repressed for so long - can you still do some progress while on SSRI's or benzos? Is it a matter of dosage? Or should I accept to put this work aside while I use medication ?

SSRI'S don't work study after study to confirm this. All those drugs do is numb you to reality. The real nightmare begins when you have to try and come off them, they are a road to hell a dead end.

I take benzos and still work on myself. I don't think I could control my anxiety without them when it gets bad enough.

QUESTION So say with the various worldly atrocities - do I turn off the news (my go to) - is that denying it? I’m a bit confused as to how Irene suggests you handle world issues. I’m doing SBSM and she suggested at the start of that to not watch the news too much but now she’s saying something different? Can you please clarify with a practical example?

It's not denying, it's setting boundaries as you know how you'll feel and you protect yourself.

I think protecting yourself atm to support your healing is perfectly ok. But if you never watched the news again and ignored the issues humanity is facing, that would be blocking off and taking the easy way out. Finding a healthy way to be connected to our world and contribute to its healing in our own individual way is the way to go 🌍💙🌿

I think there's no need not to watch the news if you are sufficiently embodied and have the capacity to deal what you see there. If the news causes the trauma vortex to totally overtake you you're not doing yourself a favor IMO, nor the world. But if you have the capacity, and you are able to have both compassion for yourself and the suffering of the human condition, then there's of course nothing against it I think.

I think one important point is that watching the news/obsessing over current conflicts and getting riled up about it is not going to help anybody anyway. Esp when supporting one side of a conflict it’s easy to get angry and self-righteous, but we can be so much more effective by perhaps 1) donating what we can to the cause we support and 2) reduce our news consumption and instead work on ourselves. Objectively helpful to what’s happening in the world and the people around us.

Could you please record a video on controlling (expressed e.g. as perfectionism, dieting, cutting, helicopter parenting)? Can a person actually have chronic belly aches (any pains, for that matter), so that she can CONTROL it with a very restrictive diet?
