How Damned Lucky we have been, to have lived & listened to all this incredible music! I remember it all! From the early 50s, Elvis, Jerry Lee, Buddy Holly, throughout the 60s & 70s. The years rolled by, more good music and it is still going on.

As far as I can remember, on the album it said for each song "written by The Traveling Wilburys". I don't think there was any individual credit, apart from Jeff Lynne and George Harrison as producers (under their Wilbury pseudonyms). My guess though is the lead vocalist on each song was probably the lyricist, and the lyrics in Tweeter And The Monkey Man are very Dylan-like, so I'd feel pretty strongly that he wrote it. It's only my guess though, and I stand corrected.
@boogar2960

Both Tom Petty and Bob Dylan wrote the song. Bob Dylan got credit for writing most of it though.

Bob dylan sang most of the song. I can't imagine what it would be to have Jeff lynn and george harrisson and all the rest in the same room playing. I loved the Travelling Woolbury's. It's all right. Even if the sun don't shine. We're going to the end of the line. You don't have to be ashamed of the car you drive at the end of the line. I'm just happy to be alive.

Just in case there are no Springsteen fans watching this, the lyrics "name drop" the tittles of 8 Bruce Springsteen songs and the story takes place in New Jersey. That is not an accident or a coincidence, but more of an inside joke.

I wonder why Dylan would so viciously attack Springsteen. Maybe he thought Bruce was a phony. Bruce talked a lot in his Broadway show about how he wrote about racing in the street and couldn't drive. Or that he never really had a job aside from performing. Bob would have been seeing Bruce living in LA hanging at Frank Sinatra as house.
@alexshkoditch4593
@alexshkoditch4593 5 ай бұрын
@@karenbarker3470 It wasn't so much an attack as it was a joke. The lyrics were written by Dylan and Petty very quickly in a single sit-down session after which it was immediately recorded. There is a documentary on the making of this album that shows Bob and Tom off in a side room scribbling down the lyrics, and Harrison saying they were giggling as they wrote them. Note that some of the references are song titles from Springsteen's Nebraska album (Mansion on the Hill, State Trooper), an all acoustic album that was widely praised but didn't sell much and 1 was an unreleased (at that time) out take song Lions Den. Since many of references were not obvious to the casual listener that only knew Born in the USA or Born to Run, the joke flew over many people's heads. Note that Dylan appeared on stage with Bruce at a Shea stadium concert in the early 2000's, I doubt there was any annimosity.

God this song man, my dad is a huge Dylan fan and we grew up with his music playing everywhere. This album though, this is on the soundtrack of my life and this song in particular just feels like childhood, like home. I can picture it like a movie in my head. The best group to ever be assembled hands down. I love to imagine that producing this record was so much fun for them all. It will forever be playing in my life, I can’t wait for my kids to be old enough to enjoy listening to this music together, a lifelong gift, thank you Bob, Tom, Roy, George and Jeff.

My personal favorite ❤️ The End of the Line. My husband and 3 kids lived in Muleshoe Texas from 1965 until 1989. My husband had commissary privileges at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis New Mexico so we went over to Clovis at least once or twice every month. Norman Petty had his recording studio there and recorded numerous other artists songs including Roy Orbison and his band and Buddy Knox and The Rhythm Orchids. When my kids and I moved to Fritch Texas from Muleshoe Buddy Knox’s sister was my son’s fourth grade teacher 👩‍🏫, Verdy Brown. 😊😊😊😊
