We didn't get a fair shot in Ellijay. We have some of the best property in the Mountains, for sure. Our downtown is great.The best food is not where you ate. Since Cantaberry moved, to their new building, not great anymore. The River Street Tavern is the best!! And, you would have loved the Ellijay Coffeehouse! Oh. my. Coffee has never been so good. This is a small mountain town with a big heart. Not boring and empty, if you know where and when to be there. In the Fall and winter, around Christmas time, there is much going on and much to see and do. Give us another chance. You'll be glad you did.

@TheI82much I was born in Atlanta and raised in the Lithonia area...moved away in 1974, and I do so miss it. I live in Washington State now, since 1985, and the last time I went to Ga I actually was allowed by the new owners of my old homeplace to walk thru...not much had been changed, and I just cried like a baby for all the memories in that house...I always visit my Mom's grave site when I go down there...

Too bad you didn't go into Faith Chapel at 15:13. There is an original Tiffany stained glass window signed by Tiffany himself, one of the few left in the world. The window can be seen at the front if the church to the left of the front door. It is huge and absolutely beautiful.

Actually, in addition to your observance, those trees are the majestic River Oaks, you love covered with Spanish moss, are plagued with shallow root systems. Wind, nor’easters, tropical storms just wreak havoc with those once beautiful oaks.
@dcolemanbigbee69754 жыл бұрын
Faith Chapel is a must see. It has two Tiffany stained glass windows; one reflects sunrise, the other sunset. I don’t believe they charge anymore but ask for a donation by a discreet box. The volunteer gives you great information on the interior very much “hunting camp” carvings (boars etc). Ille would love a silk scarf of those windows sold in Museum (barn area) by Sea Turtle Rescue behind the chapel (very cool exhibits and surgery center).

24:52 I took (and passed!) 7 different chemistry courses in college, and outside of one of those I've never heard another person say *"sublimation"* (To be transformed directly from the solid to the gaseous state or from the gaseous to the solid state without becoming a liquid). I LMAO. Chevy needs to look into that and issue a recall!!! That's a serious problem. The very LAST chemistry course I took was really hard, and I thanked my lucky stars I was done. Most people taking more chemistry after that were going to be pharmacists or chemists, so the next time you talk to your pharmacist say, _"Dude, you're a fricking genius!"_ Jacksonville native. Loved seeing you in my backyard. They put in that $6 toll on Jeckyll to keep out the riff-raff, and everyone around here knows it.
@travelingwithrick6 жыл бұрын
The toll is to defray the cost of the bridge.
@Matt_from_Florida6 жыл бұрын
Really? Jekyll instituted that toll back in the 1980's when it still had the old *drawbridge* and the new causeway bridge didn't even exist. *Jekyll calls its toll a parking fee.* St. Simons Island got rid of its toll in the early 2000s but now they're talking about bringing it back. The people who live on St. Simons say St. Simon's beaches are too crowded because of Jekyll Island’s $6 toll. If the toll is reimposed, the revenue would be used for city and county infrastructure projects, the first being a new big drainage project. It used to be a common sight to see local kids hanging out on their bikes to pick up loose change that had missed the basket.
