I remember when I visited Pirate Bay to download Hobo with a Shotgun (it was 15 bucks on XBOX Live, had no money to see it), and I saw a comment by Jason Eisener himself. @@Barloq133IC2S He certainly is, and we need more guys like that in the business. I remember listening to the DVD commentary for Hobo, Rutger is sitting there PRAISING Jason to the moon. Jason clearly felt that he didn't deserve the praise, but Rutger wouldn't hear it. Rutger then goes on to motivate future filmmakers by basically telling them to NEVER give up, to just MAKE things...and I never forgot that.

I live about an hour away from Halifax, in a small town called Truro. I've met Jonathan Torrens a few times and have pictures with him. He is hands down one of the nicest people I've met. I still feel sympathy for the tree charavters (at least in the beginning), but the human bad guys are so cartoonish and over-the-top that makes this so enjoyable to watch. Also, HECK YEAH!!! Love the video! Probably my favorite short film. I think the golden chainsaw kill in Treevenge is a reference to Zombie (1979) and City of the living dead (1980). They are both directed by Lucio Fulci, he is known for his gory horror movies. City of the living dead is apart of the gates of hell trilogy which I would love to see get covered on the podcast or the kill count. Keep up the awesome videos.

Oregonian here, because we have lots of Christmas tree farms and thus cheaper trees than other states. This film triggered some empathy for trees and made me wonder how well do people care for their trees? My family goes to a U-cut farm, meaning we pick a tree to cut down ourselves and workers will package the tree along with strapping it to the roof of your car for you. Packaging a tree has the tree shaken by a machine to shake out dead branches/needles along with any hitchhiking wildlife, the fed through a different machine that wraps the tree in rope so they’re more compact and don’t scratch up your car as much (you can see the trees like this in the film when they’re being transported on the semi). Then you pay for your tree and then they’ll tie down the tree throughly on your car roof, they’ll open up every car door to tie it down so there’s no chance it’ll fall off during the drive home. When we bring the tree home, we obviously free the tree from its bonds and after decoration we start to water it regularly with watered down sprite (trees like sugar). Do feel bad for the trees when we toss them after the holidays.
