England in the finals now
@Caipiranha893 жыл бұрын
As a mostly neutral spectator of the euro cup, I sincerely hope England loses the final against Italy, simply due to the fact that they have the most toxic "fans" of all the participating nations. Booing the national anthem of the opponent is an absolute no-go and it happened twice already. Trying to distract/blind the opposing keeper with a laser pointer? Another red flag. Restricting access to the game for Danish fans due to Corona yet packing the stadium to the brim with English fans also seemed unfair and fishy, not to mention that they've had the home advantage in all key games and will do again in the final despite being a hotspot for the delta virus. I'm not saying the English team wouldn't deserve a title, but I'd simply hate to see these hooligans satisfied.

yo did anyone else catch Pyrion talking about French players of African descent being "qualifying as French citizens" or the teams having shaky ground to call them French? not tryna be that guy but that's super racist to suggest that a person born in France whose mother is Algerian is somehow less French than any of the other players. he was low key making it sound like he thinks they have some kinda technical advantage because they've recruited "outside France" from Algeria? as a fan i heard that and was like wut

English football fans are, sorry to say, the worst. I love football and follow Bundesliga, CL, EL and a bit of Premier and other international leagues, but the big tournaments are my favourite moments by far. I have wanted to like the english teams several times over, played as them in video games and well, they often get some really cool players. So as long as my own team isnt playing, at the start of a tournament, I *want* to like them... Enter the fans. Look at last Euro, for crying out loud. England got massively favoured by luck for having many matches at Wembley, big ones too. What do their fans do? Boo other nations' anthems. You dont see that elsewhere, or when you do, it's a scandal. Then during the match, again, way too much negativity on opponent plays. I get supporting your own team, but the degree of it was really off-putting and you dont see that, again, in other arenas across Europe - at least not as much. Compounding all this (and some behaviour from outside the stadiums) is all the stuff of before/after the matches. "It's coming home" was an amazing song, quite fun and wholesome lyrics at first, became obnoxious with fan attitude and expectation - as if theyd already won, despite quite honestly performing barely adequately and getting farther in the tourny than some other teams with much better performances. Add to that some unsavoury gloating upon winning. As a Germany fan, I couldnt be happy with how we performed. The win for England was acceptable in that Germany wasnt good in that match ; though if we're honest here, England wasnt much better. They deserve the win simply by virtue of actually finishing that one attack that got them a goal. But that's neither here nor there, the problem isnt so much in how much it was deserved - it was, not contesting it - but more in how oh so many english fans behaved right after: gloating as if they'd just beaten us with a famous performance. I had the best football night of my life watching Germany - Brazil in 2014 and neither I nor any german fan I talked with later operated on that degree of assholery after winning 7-1. So bottom line is, it's hard to love England as a footballing nation. Ive wanted to before, I may try again, but the fans make it hard. As a direct comparison, Ireland also got some really loud, active fans. And they're amazing. Go Ireland :)
