On the topic of planets, we have to remember that we can see literally billions of stars but the more stars we find the less likely we know what's there. Because light travels at a capped rate, we usually see stars from thousands to millions of years in the past. I can't remember the exact date, but there was a supernova not too long ago maybe 50 years that could be seen. This was actually from millions of years ago. That's why it is so hard to find alien life. There could be a way to travel the speed of light as there is an engine that breaks the third law of motion. It uses microwaves I believe to create force which does not make sense as the third law states that if something is to go forward it has to push something back.

Actually relativity only forbids faster than light travel within spacetime, spacetime itself could expand or contract much faster. The Alcubierre metric (or Alcubierre drive) is a solution to Einstein's field equations that make it theoretically possible. Doing it in practice is another story.

One could also just bend space time itself with worm holes or what not, they have evidence that this type of thing is possible in math. Like the example of instead of traveling across the face of a piece of paper you bend the entire paper in half and stab a pencil through it to travel from one side to the other side.

rdizzy1 Sure, the mathematical solution exists. Wormholes are a consequence of the Schwarzschild solution for the field equations. The problem is not the math around it (well it kind of is, in a real world scenario I don't think that the Schwarzschild solution would work well, things in space usually rotate and that complicates things a lot, even worse is if the described object is also electrically charged), we have no experimental way of doing such things at least not yet and I don't think that will happen in the near future.
