I agree with your last statement on people being obsessed with the "oh, so-and-so flopped, their music is 'mid' now", like it's pretty disappointing how chart obsessed music enjoyers are now 😅 what happened to just enjoying the music for what it is, or disliking it simply because it isn't what they expected or preferred? Luckily, this doesn't apply to EVERYONE, but it's relevant enough nowadays (mainly on social media, it seems) to the point where it's impossible not to notice..

I understand now why she was getting so freaking mad because their last two albums I would consider mid as a way to describe them as easy to market to the public... Now that this album has dropped and I gave it a listen, I'm like ok Ms Doja lmao 😂 I get exactly why she was getting so freaking mad at her fans. She is an ARTIST. This album is soooo her. She's not trying to make herself super sexualized either, she dressed up as these demons and whatnot 😂 💪 I could totally see people having a problem with this dark imagery. I know what you mean. The thing is, I enjoyed her past 3 albums as I love many music genres (including pop), but I also understand how plenty listeners weren't even on board with her then. I think she expressed that she had more freedom to write the type of lyrics she wanted and sound she envisioned through her team/producers this time around, as opposed to when she had to perform songs like Say So over and over again 💀 So far, with Scarlet, I don't have any tracks I strongly dislike or would skip. Even would say, I've got my top 7 sorted out! She definitely didn't disappoint in experimenting with this@@halroxdynasty8683

Lol “she spent almost nothing on this.” dude she recreated scenes from iconic horror movies throughout the years. The bathtub scene from The Shining, multiple scenes from Poltergeist, and Paranormal Activity. I don't even think I recognized all of them. She also hired Christina Ricci. That couldn't have been cheap. I'm almost certain the lighting was solely an artistic choice in order to get her body makeup and prosthetics to look as convincing as possible. Not to mention-horror films employ this kind of lighting.

Surprisingly I’ve noticed most people haven’t mentioned how most of the video is based off of popular horror films and real haunted places. Like the bathroom which I think was the shining, and shots of poltergeist with the kids and the static. And the kitchen looked like a house that had things being thrown around. Obviously I may be incorrect about some of this but I appreciate the effort to represent theses things in the music video

Honestly this whole album is very dark and experimental, it honestly reminds me a lot of Britney Spears’ Blackout Album, in the sense that it was incredibly great sounds, lyrics and it was so experimental. Blackout paved the way for the current pop girls and Scarlet will do the same for Rap girlies
