I had a customer that wanted me to build atv roads and the path he wanted me to take was on the neighbors property. I bought a app on my phone so I could prove to him where his property line was. It's onX I use it a lot and it's not too expensive. When you were checking things out at the beginning of the video brought it to mind. Even used it last week. Have a great weekend.

Thanks Jeramy. I have used onX and Huntstand is another good one too. Had trial membership on them and have just been to stingy to pay for the service 😁. Thanks for the info and have a blessed week as well...

What a terrific job. You don`t realise (aussie spelling) how big that area was, until seen from the air. The way you dragged all of that brush out with that machine was amazing. It`s like a giant fist. Now I see where all that brush came from. Loving these videos, except all the mechanical talk, but that is what the fast forward is for.!! Best regards.
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Margaret. There is a lot of brush that adds up fast. Took around 9 days to clear all the property and burn it. The drone video gives a good perspective of the work, for sure. Right, ust hit the fast forward when I'm blabbing about mechanical talk 🤪.

Neighbors didn't seem to mind the cleanup but the smoke was a different story. I was fussed at a little bit but what do you do, has to be burned. Guess I'm a little strange because I like burning and smelling the smoke.

@@tristardiggin I guess you will have to get a battery powered fan for smoke control. 🤣🤣

Sam, I have those same straps. They’ve never let me down. Must be in the name. Haha. Good work on the brush fix and being able to keep working to get the job finished. The before and after drone shots were amazing. Tim

Thanks Tim. I agree, it must be the CAT on them 😁. You are right, the before and after showed the transformation. Probably increased the value of the property by a good bit.

Hi Sam.. Looking good. Kinda a little bit of everything on that job. Beautiful country you have there. Nice camera work. 🙂 Living in a suburb of chicago, it's hard to find undeveloped land of any kind, unless it's part of the forest preserve district. My wife and me were working towards a goal of moving to Tennessee when I retired. Would have been sweet. We did manage to spend our last vacation in sevierville Tennessee back in 2020. Rrented a nice cabin. 2 of our 3 boys made it with us. Any way take care. Ed from Chicago 🙂

Thanks Ed. You nailed what I try to do in the videos and that is have variety. I don't want to make boring videos so I hope to mix up the camera shots and ad things that are related to the job as well. So, I appreciate the feedback on that. I have no experience with big cities or suburbs so, I suppose, that would be culture shock for me 😳. Sevierville is a great place to visit. Neighboring cities like Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are getting so crowded you can't get around. However, more recently, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville have grown together basically not able to tell any difference. Sounds like yall had a great time with your sons being able to make it. God Bless, Sam

@@tristardiggin Yes, we stayed I'm guessing about 5-6 mile away from pigeon forge. A cabin in the hills. We stayed at pigeon forge for our 1yr anniversary back in 2002. What a big difference. Talk about nailing it. Very commercial now. Yikes. We would have found a place in the country. Ok, looking forward to your next project. Ed from Chicago 🙂

Got it looking good! About the time I was thinking that you hadn’t crashed this drone we crashed 🤷

The place turned out nice. Mayday! We sure did crash. And that was the new one that replaced the one I previously destroyed at the same jobsite. 😫 Fortunately it didn't break it this time.

How many days did you have in this job? Seems like it went fast from the videos!! Great one!
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
Very observant! That is pretty cool that you noticed that. It was a total of 9.5 days. I just created a playlist with 2 other videos from this site. This particular video is kind of a Frankenstein video because it combined bits of several days. I lost a good bit of video so I only ended up with 3 videos instead of probably 5. I had another brush fire video that would have been a good one. But its gone, video just gone!!!😫

@@tristardiggin I did a video of my buddy and I cutting a steep 641 acre place in the middle of nowhere. We had a leak and a code on one of the new tractors so I called my Deere dealer from the top of the mountain where I got reception. Left my phone in the cup holder of my open station tractor and I lost it while raking. I drove around to lots of bales and hollered hey Siri to see if she would answer but ima guess the baler ate it. They usually don’t pick up hard objects like rocks and phones but the hay was thick. It was first cutting and beautiful. But I lost a weeks worth of footage.
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
Yup that is a bad feeling. Several monthd ago I buried a gopro in a pond dam and it had a couple days of video on it. It happens but we sure don't like it when it does...

That's funny you were hollering at siri! Would have been even funnier if she answered and you started ripping the bale apart to save her. 😁

I live in SC and I have one of those sirens across the road from my house. It is for the Oconee Nuclear Station . They test those things so much I wouldn't leave if they had an emergency, I would just think it was another test. My dog and I have to go in the house. They run for 3 minutes each time. I hate the thing. I just had the thumb cylinder on my Bobcat E80 thumb rebuilt this week. It was $130.
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
Hopefully the cost of mine will be around that much too. I bet you enjoyed hearing that siren then 🤪. A neighbor of this property said they had a glitch in the system and the siren went off and it sure worried some folks. That would be tough to get use to, for sure.
@blackdogEarthworxLLC2 жыл бұрын
I hate you had the issue with the thumb. It happens unfortunately but, at least it's not terribly expensive. I just had to reseal the main boom cylinder on my excavator and I went ahead and bought the seal kits for the stick cylinder and the bucket curl cylinder. I'm glad I did because I noticed Thursday that my stick cylinder is weeping now. There's always something to work on it seems.
@tristardiggin2 жыл бұрын
Yes Sir, there is always something to spend money on. That was a good idea to go ahead and get the other seals too. Haven't gotten the cylinder back yet so hoping it won't be to expensive. Thanks, Sam

If you could only have one excavator to work in residential settings and clear land and haul around to various job sites and could ony choose between a 306 and 308, which would you choose?
@tristardiggin8 ай бұрын
If I was doing mostly residential work I would go with the 306. It’s a great size to get some good work done and much easier to haul around. For land clearing that would depend on the size of the material you are removing and the scale of the job. For sure the 308 if its larger trees and a descent size area to clear. The 306 can get it done but would take considerably longer and wouldn’t handle larger trees as well.
@franksfamily8 ай бұрын
@@tristardiggin So if I was doing like 80% residential and 20% clearing then a 306 would be good. I really don't have much to clear. Probably 2 acres of some alder and some spruce. And maybe 2 acres at most a year from customers. The rest is all residential. So you figure a 306 would fit me better?
@tristardiggin8 ай бұрын
Yes, I think a 306 would work great for you like that…
