On a serious note, the Battle of Gettysburg was a true moment of profound sadness for the United States - one of the largest of many battles that pitted Americans against Americans in a Civil War that was painfully resolved, not in the Courts or in the government so painstakingly constructed by the Founders, but on fields of battle that ultimately caused the deaths of more Americans than the total of all the wars that the US has ever been in since. You do not have to look any further than Lincoln's Gettysburg Address to see the true meaning of Gettysburg; Trump's feeble attempt to expound on the battle of Gettysburg as a talking point in one of his "rallies" is an insult to all Americans. While in school, a spoiled kid with an inheritance to burn away heard a teacher say the words "freedom of speech" while explaining reasons why America is great. That same kid wasted the inheritance on failed business ventures, and went on to assume "freedom of speech" meant freedom to break absolutely any law, and never be under the control of any legal authorities. I find that many conservative (or at least today's conservatives) tend not to understand freedom of speech. They make the mistake of thinking it's absolute. They also seem to forget that other people have that same freedom. For instance, when social media companies delete their posts or ban them, they think their first amendment rights are being violated, completely oblivious to the fact that as private companies, those companies are merely exercising their own first amendment right not to have their brand tarnished by hate speech and baseless conspiracy theories. It's really not a very complicated concept, but they find it challenging nonetheless.
