A communist-era fortified island off the coast of Albania may now become a luxury resort under plans by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former U.S. President Donald Trump. A team of RFE/RL journalists explored the abandoned bunkers and tunnels of Sazan.

That is what capitalism is. He has presented a business deal to the owner, and if they’re interested they’ll accept. If someone else has a better deal they win.

Sadly, in Albania, (as in the rest of the Balkans) the best offer is the one offering the most kickbacks to those in power, not the best deal for the location or community. Source: I am Albanian.

I’d say it’s a great idea. It brings more tourism and higher profits to a struggling country like Albania. On top of that the amount of jobs that would be offered is likely quite hight and quite well paying

Albanian has been a big European (some Americans ) vacation spot for years - good food, nice hotels white sand beaches clean water and not very expensive.

If this was a military training area, the hoped for tourist boom may end up with tourists literally going boom. Jared's daddy served time in prison, while his father-in-law is trying to stay out of prison despite having been indicted on many felonies. Jared's play money comes from the Saudis, who are quite happy to saw enemies into pieces and stuff them in suitcases. Ask yourselves whether you can survive an encounter with Jared and his clan without getting soiled to the max.
