Martin Sheen was awesome in this...love the music when he's cutting his finger off. Also, when he first appears in the scene with the other bosses and they ask what to call him and he says "SIR...you may call me SIR" and the bosses all get real quiet real quick ha ha

I remember when Siskel & Ebert in the 70's, said Sheen had a knack for wasting someone w/ out a thought. after 'Badlands' and 'Apocalypse Now' I didn't see this 'til after seeing 'West Wing', which makes it more cold blooded. Rod Steiger ,tho a flat out racist (in character)is great also( just saw it on demand). Sutherland directing, has many tributes to 'Bonnie & Clyde', and 'the Wild Bunch', etc.does a great job overall, but he can't direct/control himself. more editing. but he gets some great shots. the one where he shows us that the gang is under surveillance before it's revealed outright, is outstanding. does it w/ his own camera before we see any equipment .needed more of those shots..

Cool mean character.. cuts the fingers off, but then doesn’t watch or do the killing. Like main bad guy mr Rudd in lethal weapon 2… looks down as his food as other bad guy shoots bad guy who lost their $ onto the plastic drop cloth.
