This brings back fond teenage memories for me. Even the center pin on the charging port coming loose and the UMD disc cover always annoyingly sticking out like that, but it was worth it. I remember getting my first PSP used with Firmware 2.71, fixing the analog stick issue, "updating" it to Firmware 1.5 using Liberty City stories, then came the legendary m33 firmwares... I remember making big bucks at school with my Pandora battery. Opera mini was the primary browser on my PSP, none of that Netfront rubbish, although I also had an iPaq and Netfront was the best browser on that... And in its final days I even tried to use it as a second display when the analog stick connector broke beyond repair. PSP is still the best portable console to me. Great video, keep them coming!
@Dutch3DMaster6 жыл бұрын
iPaq's! I bought a H3630 from a used-products computer-shop at a computer fair thing and had tons of fun with, especially recording sounds from all kinds of vehicles while on my way to school and back home. I've never actually known someone or heard someone who also owned one (next to my dad having one at home for work sometimes :P).

I can't believe he made the video interesting enough for me to sit through it for 30 minutes. That's an amazing feat in itself. Maybe I'm odd, but there was something relaxing about the clicking of the buttons, plastic, etc. That said, I cringed when he used the super glue to hold the charging port. That specific part is easily replaceable, though I understand the desire to repair, instead of replace. If it now goes bad in the future he's screwed, since he permanently attached it to the system. I have a real problem with that "fix", but other than that, it was a great video.

Robbit Bobbit i believe its called asmr. Its basically a weird but nice feeling you get after experiencing certain sounds. Like chapstick lipsmacking, buttons clicking, bob ross when he smacks his paintbrush. My mate vince probably does this unintentionally, however, some youtube channels will purposefully make ASMR videos. Edit: Make sure to use safe search before looking it up because it occasionally dips into NSFW territory.

@DjStiv36 жыл бұрын
Gluesponge (James Taylor) yes however analog stick is garbage, one tiny dust particle and it wont work right, not tightening screws just right will throw it outnof wack too and sometimes it just gets fucked up and not fixable. You have to plop it down from top to bottom to touch this rectabgle see through rubber block. Psp2k and 2k you can replace the shit easy with a new one. Just swap out. Also its weight works against it too. When it breaks it shatters and chips the front glass 2k and 3k models its a hit kire durable and if you happen to break actual lcd, its easy to replace. On a 1k youre back to the analog issue if you dont set it back down just right This also means replacement of front housing/cover is not suggested since you have to put joystick in the new cover and set it down hoping joystick wont wander.

Now that I think about it, I have an old PSP "Fat" 1000 aswell, I believe it was either a pre-production unit or one of those sent to retailers to be used for those demo cabinets where you can try new consoles (with built-in monitors, fixed joypads and the like), as when I bought it 'behind close doors' (I knew the owner of the shop) it was late 2004 and the PSP didn't officially launch until 2005, it had a very low Japanese serial number and everything was in Japanese aswell, including the box, the instructions, and the menus themselves. A couple of years later, I started messing around with it and got CFs running on it. Eventually, the battery door became loose and I couldn't really use it much because unless I held it with a really tight grip, it would open itself and the battery would fall on the floor (or on my face as I often played laying in bed) so the only solution was to just play with the charging cable plugged in at all times. It has been sitting in my old bedroom since I believe 2009 or so and although it's under a huge pile of dust, I believe it still works. I don't think it has any real monetary value, but it might be worth fixing for an enthusiast as it shouldn't be expensive to change the battery door (and perhaps the battery itself), I believe it has a few dead pixels and a tiny scratch on the screen glass itself, but I haven't been back home in almost half a decade and I can't remember for the life of me. Anyway, thanks for bringing back these memories for me, although for the "wrong" reasons.

It still has some sentimental value going for it and if I were to sell it or give it away, I wouldn't be able to brag about owning a pre-production PSP unit anymore. Those units were not meant to ever be sold to the public but you can still buy used ones for around $70 on average.

I think a simpler fix to this problem, now that we know what causes it, is to just shove some needle nose plyers in and pull the center rod back into place.
