I'm scent-sensitive, so there have been many times where I love a brand's lipstick color but their added scent gives me headaches. I'd be interested in trying Finding Ferdinand to recreate or mimic an existing lip color but unscented!

Bobbi Brown Crushed Lipcolor is my favorite lipstick formula (discovered because of your description of Babe years ago!) and I’m thrilled to know I have the option to get a custom lipstick color in a similar formula. I just started a year-long no-buy and for a moment though of caving in and getting a lipstick! But nah. Omigawsh Hannah I just ordered what I hope is the perfect cobalt blue, which I named...Pure Cobalt! My favorite lipsticks are Coloured Raine liquid in Royal, Menagerie liquid in Mako, Glam Vice liquid in Grapeness, Milani Ludicrous Matte Crayon in Front Row, and Urban Decay Cream in Control. I have this same issue with paint swatches. We painted our kitchen and bathroom a while back and I brought home all these paper swatches and picked the color I decided would look best. But the color of paper or...on a screen, just didn't translate to what the physical color would look like on the wall. I can see why it would be similar with lipstick. 2D color and 3d color aren't the same. What a fun experiment! And I love that you showcased such a cool brand for us!

I am amazed at how well their formula was able to bring across your vision! So many times a light color looks horrible on the lips not because of the shade itself, but because of the zinc-paste look it gets when a chalky formula grips onto weird spots on your lips (from my experience in the early 2000s). This was sooo cool to see, I'm especially intrigued to dupe the vibes of redwood construction because I know that is what most of my collection leans towards in terms of color

I'm so happy to learn about these custom lipsticks! I have a tiny nubbin left of Clinique Tenderheart in the sheer formula. I got another and the color is not the same 😖 it's a touch more orange based so it gives spagetti vibes on me instead of being a lovely rosey brown. The one I used up was my absolutely perfect lipstick. I'd love it if I could manage to replicate the color.

This is so cool, I’m really obsessed with baby Bella. I did the virtual bite lip lab for my birthday and it was an awesome experience. I also made a light brown chocolate milk type shade, and then I tried to recreate a discontinued vampy Chanel lipstick. I really recommend it if you’re going to make custom lipsticks again, they make it in front of you so there’s room to change something if you’re not happy

This is a great way to get the same shade without buying a super old, icky one from eBay that is 10 years old. My favorite shade is Tootsie from Colourpop but it is discontinued. It’s a more mauve , weird version of Gone a Greige.

I was so confused because from the thumbnail, I couldn’t understand why you bought concealers and bronzer/contour sticks to use as lipstick! But after explaining why certain nude colors were too dark on you, it totally made sense and 3/4 colors looked great! It really got me thinking I am constantly in search of a red that leans very brown brick color. I have a kind of peachy neutral skin tone so the bright orange or blue based reds look terrible on me and I’m constantly having to mix brown into the reds I purchase for them to be wearable enough to use. I would love to find my perfect brown red shade!

I'm SCREAMING. haha. I'm someone who barely owns lipstick (mostly just a few glosses), because I literally have the same issues you described. Granted, I'm not as pale as you are on the foundation spectrum - I can definitely find my shade 85% of the time - but for whatever reason, I have the same affliction when it comes to lip color. And it's sort of a combo of relative paleness mixed with a pinky-cool-neutral skin undertone which makes every lipstick pull either orange or gray, no matter what. This feels like such an attempt worth making, and I so appreciate your walking us through how you built your colors, because it gave me real food for thought on how I'd approach the same. THANK you for doing this review! I'm so excited to have an avenue, and also so excited that you now have these lip colors you love! Ahhhh!! hahaha.
