TSN’s TOP 50 NHL PLAYERS: OVECHKIN DROPS OFF THE LIST

Monday marks the start of the rollout of TSN’s annual list of Top 50 NHL players. And for the first time in the 15-year history of the list, Alex Ovechkin will not be a part of it. Bryan Hayes and Frankie Corrado join Gino Reda to discuss whether TSN voters overreacted, or got it right.

Does anyone else think he could make people eat crow and score 42 this season? He did it in 22-23 at the age of 37 and his first half last season was abysmal, let’s say he comes into camp fresh and motivated and gets a bit more puck luck, if all things break even he could break or tie the record this year. Unless his decline is very steep it’s not out of the question.

I wouldnt say he's just stat padding. The caps did make the playoffs last year, and him turning on the burners in the second half is a huge reason why. He's got a better chance at making the playoffs this year than crosby does.

Exactly! I watched about twenty Caps games last year and he was by far the worst player on ice! Just floating around with zero defensive effort. He is only on ice because his name is Ovechkin. It was actually pathetic...
